Hey y'all, I'm Meagan. My husband Andy and I grew up in rural NC and as newlyweds, decided we wanted something more than the typical American lifestyle. So we started growing our own food, I learned to can and so started this passion of food preservation and knowing where our food comes from.
Even though we grew up around this lifestyle, we still had to learn for ourselves, the ways of our ancestors before us. We now grow a huge portion of our food, including our own meat.
High society and MSM want you to think you don't have time to grow, preserve and cook your own food from scratch, but I am here to help you along the way. As a working mother of 2 on a busy little farm, there is time, we just have to prioritize it.
Through my weekly videos, I'll show you how to prepare easy meals cooked from scratch, tips on preserving your garden harvest and the occasional farm video. Live life on YOUR terms

I remember reading that margarine is one molecule away from being plastic. When they first made margarine, it was to feed turkey's, but it killed the turkey's, so they doctored it up, and gave it to humans. I remember this from home economics.

A guy I knew took his grandfather for a doctor’s office visit “his grandfather was 99 years old at the time". The doctor was questioning the old gentleman and ask him if he eat well. The old gentleman replied, “well I eat bacon and eggs every morning and fried taters, soup beans, fried hog meat and or beef about every day. The doctor then ask what do you fry your food in? The Old gentleman said, “lard” as if that was the only thing there was to fry food in. The doctor said. “Mr so and so you might want hold off on the hog meat, lard and eggs somewhat”. The old gentleman replied, “doctor I have been eating those things for about 99 years what is it gong to do kill me“. I have out lived everybody in this county and may outlive you. End of conversation.

For decades, I used crisco, vegetable oils and margarine. Only until recently, 2 years ago when my husband had his open heart surgery I started doing research about the foods we eat. I was SHOCKED to discover that all those "good" oils are not only bad for you but, will make you sicker than you already are. I now only use lard, butter, whole milk products, avocado/olive oils and NO MORE fast foods in our home. But don't say those things to your doctor(s) for they will shame you and tell you how "unhealthy" you are eating. We also eat a LOT of bacon, eggs and I save ALL my bacon grease for cooking as well. Doctors have been leading us wrong for DECADES. I have gotten to where I don't even trust the majority of the "medical" community. A lot of them WON'T even do the research themselves...Instead they go totally by what the pharmaceuticals tell them. So sad! But fortunately, there are GREAT doctors out there on You-Tube, ie, Dr. Berry, Dr. Berg who has TONS of health information out there. Both of these Doctors do their OWN research too! Their advice is...eat a HUMAN diet!

I now call it the 'Medical Industrial Complex' [a play on the 'Military Industrial Complex'] It's a shame, disgrace, and every complicit medical personnel will answer to Almighty God for selling-out. The medical schools may be held more accountable for ceasing to train doctors, nurses correctly.

Girl preach!!! I'm to the point that anything the government tells me to do or stay away from, I do the opposite. I have been on a journey for several years now cutting out thing after thing trying to heal some of the intestinal issues I have been having. I've cut out the oils you mentioned, carrageenan in "dairy" products (and I use that term loosely because it isn't real dairy when they are done with it, it's why many have dairy issues because it's not real dairy as God made it), maltodextrin used for an anti caking agent, I even found it in my natural stevia sweetener. It started causing me terrible bloating every time used it. I've had a gluten sensitivity for years and they all say to stay away from bread, grains, pasta, but it's the flour used in those products that you need to stay away from. Grains and wheat berries when they are freshly milled are some of the most nutrient rich foods there is. it's why Jesus called Himself the bread of life because, if needed, you can survive on bread/grains. And guess what, since I've been making real bread with these grains, I'm not bloated anymore, no more "gluten sensitivity". I've been learning so much I have been blown away and determined to eat as much as we can from scratch. Sorry if this is long, but I get passionate about it 😂 keep sharing and doing what y'all are doing!

I think you nailed it. I started the same journey as you 1 year ago. I’ve lost 50lbs and feel fantastic. I had cancer but have been cancer free for almost 5 yrs. No one should trust the government to tell us the truth on anything. Everyone needs to do their own research and do what is right for them. I hope everyone begins to see the same light that you have and realize they must look after themselves. I know you’re a nurse so you get to see just how broad this medical scam is!! Who would have thought ? I know I didn’t.

More people need to hear this! I 🙌feel the same way! Our food can be medicine or it can be poison. “They wouldn’t allow it to sell in a store if it was harmful to us!”…one of many arguments I have heard 🙈 that is not true. Conscious choices. If we don’t slow down and take care of ourselves properly, including investigating and learning about the products we use, we will pay for it, eventually. Thanks for sharing your journey❤

Yes, yes, yes. I have experienced very simular . I agree 100% I have been going all natural over the last 2 to 3 years. And oh what a difference each change brings. As a nurse I started questioning pharmaceuticals and our food systems back in the late 1900s, but finding truth in the available sources is easy. Oh how I wish my grandparents were alive. For more reasons then ever. Thank you for speaking out on the truth even when it is controversial. Peace to you and your family.❤

Vegetable, Canola and seed oils are soooooooooo bad for the human body. We stopped using them when we discovered this. We cook with Avocado oil for our neutral oil, olive, butter and coconut oil - that's it. We'd use lard if we had animals. Thank you for spreading the word cuz I don't think that many people have woken up to the evils of processed oils in this country. Love, love, love your channel!

Pre and pro biotics are just one of the bonuses of drinking it. My blood numbers are so good my doc asks me how I eat. Organic meat raw milk no seed oils at all! Real butter. No sugar. I totally agree with you about big pharma and agribusiness and the food that most people eat. I don’t eat out at all. And isn’t it funny how so many ingredients are banned in other countries. The worst candy is Skittles. It’s banned in other countries, so are Ritz crackers. There are others that I can’t think of off hand. I agree we should eat whole real foods, fruits and vegetables. Isn’t it amazing how most store bought bread doesn’t even mold anymore? I started making easy bread and it lasts about a week and then starts to mold and I was happy about it. Real bread! You got it right! I don’t have my own farm but at least there are places around here where I can get good meat, eggs, and vegetables if I want to.

Every single thing you have said here is true and I encourage everyone to give this a try. The high sugar, carb junk food will always make you over eat, because it keeps you hungry. lack of nutrients tell syou body to keep eating. I have seen this with our animals. We all keep eating because we need the nutrients, What we don't need is the excessive calories. That is why everyone is so overweight and sick in this country. High dense and nutritious foods will satiate your body. I eat a breakfast of 3 eggs, some kind of meat (fried balogna, sausage or bacon or maybe a piece of steak or chicken) with some roasted potatoes in the oven, No bread, unless it is a slice of glutin free bread, but I seldom do that. Anyway, I will not be hungry again for the next 4 or five hours. Maybe longer if I am not doing anything highly physical that burns the calories faster. I will then eat a substantial meal, such as a good size portion of meat and some vegetables. Then I am done until the next morning. This has brought a lot of my inflammation down, making me so much more comfortable and no longer the puffiness and swelling from my body reacting to the junk that I was eating. I have also cut way down the grains. Especially corn (my favorite) because it is so starchy and sugar. I mean think of it. What do the farmers fatten their hogs and cows with before slaughter? CORN. Corn because it fattens the fast and makes them tender for eating. Corn does the same to us. Fattens us up and makes us tender. LOL So rein in your corn consumption and treat it more like a special treat, and see what happens.

Same here sister!! Render down my own lard, if I do use oil it’s only corn oil and butter of course - no canola or vegetable oil here - I will use olive oil We raise probably 80% of our own food including beef and hogs and our own milk and only sugar in the raw or cane sugar Feel so much better!! Don’t eat out often and if I do I also feel so bad! I was being treated for HTN and diagnosed with lupus - have been able to reduce medicines by clean eating !! Our diet and gut health is the key to ALL our health!! Sad thing is you won’t hear that from a traditional doctor - I’m a nurse too and it’s sad but true Keep going on this type of stuff - keep it out there!! Was in the store today - no corn oil to be found but the sugary cereal isle was stacked full!! The idea is keep us all just sick enough to be dependent on the healthcare and pharma

Decided I needed a change and went vegetarian… stupid mistake for my blood type and health issues ( O+ , Graves Disease - post thyroidectomy) threw myself all out of whack. My family has autoimmune and ever since I stopped eating any garbage foods I’ve been so much better. Also the kids will be better for it. The taste of those foods is so gross. I thought I’d get a breakfast sandwich one day waiting for a relative in a Dr appt. The hospital had a chain food restaurant in there (don’t get me started on that) and it was like poison. It was tasting like plastic. The place smelled funny as they put the food in a microwave kind of weird packaging. I thought plastic was on fire in there. Not kidding 😂 and I felt so awful. They have this in our hospital. Ok? They are absolutely getting us sick. Big pharma and usda fda all one. Sad. Glad you’re doing well. ❤

❤Meagan, I really enjoyed this video. You know your body!! I stopped eating margarine several years ago. I became ill abt 5 years ago and the thought of anything from any fast food place turned my stomach. I am diabetic, have heart disease (low/no sodium) , am not supposed to eat fat….its like I’m on a diet for everything and that is rough. If I had home grown food and were able to prepare my own meals it would be so much easier. I have heard, though not researched, that sugar is like a poison and we all know it is highly addictive. I agree with you on the Government control we are under. It is also scary that our medical field is political! Managed and dictated by non medical people. It is difficult to see a real Dr but end up with a nurse practitioner. It is a year later and I’m wondering if you have made anymore changes that you can share? Thank you, Meg! You are a wealth of information! ❤🙏🏻

I would rather support our local farmers market before I support any fast food places The food is expensive and the quality pure sucks ..I think I can say that🤣🤣🤣🤣it's true. Attitudes from the employees suck as well. A few good ones can't cover up all the bad apples❤

Just found this older video and I wanted to jump up and down and say yes, yes, yes! I am 74 and it took me this long time to figure out processed foods is what is killing us. Then they want us to pop those pills that make us even worse! I have been doing research on gut microbiome and started making kefir and eating more fermented foods to help my reflux issues. Meds were making me worse! You are so, so right! People really need to do their research on processed fast foods and how they hurt us! So many of the chemicals in our processed foods are banned in other countries. We need to ask ourselves why! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and I hope others will realize fast and quick processed foods do not fuel our bodies nor help our health. I am slowly transitioning my way of thinking about food and what I put in my body. No,I don’t do 100% made from scratch and I still purchase some processed foods but I am working toward fueling my body in a healthy manner and thinking about what I just stuff in my mouth!

I had the same experiences when I ate food from the restaurants and prepared foods again. I wasn't sure why and couldn't believe that it would make such a noticeable difference but I did suspect that this food made me sick, little by little.

Sugar is a inflammatory. When I switched from regular coke to zero sugar coke my joints got inflamed. I finally realized it was the sweetener substitute they use. It is in a lot of product s. I quit drinking soda altogether. As someone with a sweet tooth it was hard. I have cut my sugar intake alot. My doctor has been after me for years to cut sugar because my triglycerides are high.

Thanks! I make my own washing powders, but you would do that at your own risk, I have heard it will void the warranty on a new washer. Its 1 cup of borax, 1 cup washing soda, 1 grated bar of Fels-Naptha. Saves a lot of money too!

Good video, Megan! I’ve been on that bandwagon for years. I can’t say I grow all of our food - no homestead, just a little garden. But when I do buy food, II go for the best quality IU can purchase. We don’t have livestock I but I have a side of beef in my freezer . I’m going to be looking to buy a whole heritage hog for the freezer,m and will be raising chickens for eggs before long if all goes well. We might even raised some meat chickens. Interesting, isn’t it, about all the chicken facilities burning down or having to kill millions of birds because they find a handful with bird flu symptoms! There are just 2 of us and I believe 25 meat chickens would do us for a year. I’m not a “spring chicken” myself so this might be a lot to take on but I’m “only” 72 and plan on being around for a lot more years. My husband has health issues but I can’t keep him off sugar and junk food but I keep trying. He does eat what I put in front of him so I try to make meals as nutritious as possible.

I totally agree with you. We are trying to switch our foods to but definitely a slow process especially in our area. We also live in Southwest Louisiana and the big industry in our area is oil refineries so more chemicals we are exposed too.

Thank you for this video. We do a lot of what you do with our meat and vegetables, but after listening to you, I am going to switch my oils. We haven't done pigs yet, but I am reading a book on Guinea hogs and I believe that is the way we will go (for the meat and the lard). Congrats on the blue ribbons. God bless.

I wish I could eat everything I grew but I made it thanks to your produce boxes. I buy local pork but I cannot find a local beef. Everyone wants you to buy at least 1/4 cow and I can't buy that much just for me. Now I'm still trying to get off the pop tarts lol lol...I am addicted too lol

I just found y'all's channel last week while looking for a canning recipe. Me and my husband (who is Simi retired till June 13 then fully retired) have binged watched y'all's channel since we found it. 5 years ago I had to quit work and start using a wheelchair that first year was really rough on me... I gained weight and could care less. One day I prayed and asked God to help me.. well I started doing again what I've always enjoyed canning. Now being in a wheelchair changed things but I made it work but hubby insisted I waited till he was here to can because of safety. I started doing mostly home grown foods and using lard and butter. The change I dropped 40 lbs and feel so much better. I'm now conscience of the food we eat and cleaners we use. It has made a big difference. This year we will be canning much more since hubby's going to be here everyday. Please know even us old folks are learning from y'all younger ones. God bless y'all!
