I'll say this, what you noticed in terms of signal strength is due to the case being plastic and not metal or glas or a combination of both. I see a lot of people complaining of receivers not feeling "premium" but when it comes to Bluetooth protocol, we should expect plastic if we want signal stability. BT is really bad, in general, dealing with walls and obstacles.

I imported it at launch and really like it, especially since I've been worried about the glass design of the FiiO cracking on me. It was my first external DAC, so I can't really compare it to anything. On the signal strength: I think it mainly comes from the antenna having a very clever design (they show it on their site, it's basically 3 antennas, one on every axis). I get acceptable signal (no stutters) even 2 rooms away, although LDAC dynamically drops to the 330 kbit/s mode.

I have the ES100 MK2 and it does not drive my HIFIMAN HE4XX well. Do you think these will drive planars well ? You mentioned in your video not for planars but then you also said it should work on most IEMs and Headphones. I am thinking either going for the Qudelix given the auto eq database they have or go for the FiiO JadeAudio Q11(so i dont need to worry about the power). Let me know your thoughts.

When it comes to planars and hard to drive headphones, Dethonray SG1 Pegasus is the one I would recommend, everything else may have too little power to be enough. I am having good experience with Shanling UP5 and UP4 2022, but for easy to drive dynamics.

I have a question about the Q5k (and other bluetooth devices like UP2, BTR3k etc) that I can't find an answer to. Can you use them as a bluetooth mic for recording videos with your phone? Usually only calls are mentioned in reviews, I was wondering about recording videos from a distance and using either the device's mic or an inline mic on the earbuds as a bluetooth mic.

I like the design, particularly the clip. I got the impression that setting this device up is a more involved and complicated process than with similar devices like the ES100 and BTR5, what do you think? I've also seen several claims that it's range with LDAC is many times longer than the Fiio and ES100. They claimed it has a range of nearly 90 metres with LDAC. I find this very hard to believe, I think this is way beyond what Sony claim LDAC can do and it is their codec. I am not personally invested in which device is thought to have better range I don't see a great benefit from being able to listen to music while my valuable phone is 90 metres away from me. I may get one to test it, maybe that is their cunning plan. If it switches to lesser codecs to maintain connection like the BTR5 can, I can see how someone might think they're getting a long range LDAC signal. In my apartment the range is several metres using two Sony devices.
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 3 жыл бұрын
The design is really good, and sonically it is a bit better than BTR5. To enter pairing mode, you just have to put it in pairing mode and connect, that's all. As for the range, it is about 9 meters at best, there may be a typo. LDAC by itself doesn't work at more than 15 meters and that I managed to do with BTA30 from FiiO because it has a pretty large physical antenna.
@mrfrosty3
@mrfrosty3 3 жыл бұрын
@@AudiophileHeaven thanks. I've seen more than one claim that people have tested the Qudelix and got LDAC range of about 80-90 metres outdoors. They then claim that this makes other devices with a normal range inferior. This spreads online and it then becomes"fact." I think the devices probably all have similar range or maybe one is a little better but not a 90m LDAC range. Thanks for your response.

Hello :), burned iem drivers with quidelix 5K??? In xduoo 05 plus review u said that u like to use it with your iems and it has 5x more power than quidelix at 32ohms. My question is: I have the fiio fh3 and i use it also with the xduoo 05 plus, is it dangerous to them? Because 1w at 32ohm is at the max volume but i use just 1/10 of the volume with the fiio fh3 at most... so what is your opinion??? Thanks :)
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 3 жыл бұрын
Hii, it is not dangerous at all, should be more than fine The Voltage burns IEMs more than power output. I know this from a local CIEM maker who warned me about it, told me to be really careful because he burns BA drivers all the time with high voltage and high volumes. As long as you don't listen really loud, it can't cause any trouble :) XD05 will be fine, Qudelix 5K will be fine, I think anything you may use should be fine as long as the volume si low enough.
@Trripps
@Trripps 3 жыл бұрын
You can set set a maximum volume on the 5k that literally shrinks the volume bar to that level, protecting your iem's. It also adjusts the volume to the db you were listening to automatically, when you up the voltage. I'm using Tape Pro balanced, no problem. The balanced output uses two chips, each producing 1Volt for each channel, so 2Volts. There is a high gain option which doubles each chip to 4volts total, but this is only recommended for high impedance headphones, as it raises the noise floor. Single ended runs from only one chip at 1 or 2Volts, but balanced is cleaner. Set the volume cap and you're good to go. I bought it to replace my BTR5 which accidentally found it's way into the washing machine. In terms of Bluetooth the BTR5 lost connection when I turned my back to the phone and forget leaving the room. The 5k I can walk around the house, no problem. I do think the BTR5 maybe sounded a little smoother but 5k sounds great too. It's way more practical IMO. It's smaller, the fitted clip is better, the Bluetooth works past keeping it in the same pocket, battery life is better and it doesn't get covered in scratches just by looking at it. There's PDF instructions linked in the 5k app that details all the features. Oh, and the app is also much better.

@Trripps
@Trripps 3 жыл бұрын
@@hersion9155 balanced is 2V by default. They only recommend you increase to 4V for high impedance 🎧, as this increases noise floor and reduces battery life. I'm no expert by the way, just reporting what I learned from the instructions.

@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, at the moment I reviewed this one, it was pushing a bit too much in most IEMs. Most probably because it has a higher voltage, it is not about not using 2.5mm with IEMs, more like on this one, do not use 2.5mm if the IEM is burn-proone. This is something to take into account when using BA and BA-Only IEMs, Ba drivers burn easily from over voltage. You didn't share its history with EarStudio Es100. This device was not made to compete with the btr5, but with the ES100 which it branched out from due to controversy. This device has an amazing engineering/company pedigree and did not come out of no where. There is a positive history.

Hiii there Actually, nice info, I didn't know! I mainly seen it as a BTR5 competitor. Never reviewed ES100, altough I did review some products from Earstudio . You can write more about it here so people who read the comments get to know about the whole story.

@@AudiophileHeaven So the lead designer behind the Es100 (which was very successful) left the company after to make this Qudelix 5k. So in some sense the Qudelix 5k is the second generation project of his team's accumulated work. They were now setup to compete with his earlier finished project (the Es100); to make what he felt was the full potential of this form factor. It is inspiring how they worked hard to best themselves.

BTR5 is still unmatched with the USB 2.0 audio, w/ PCM 32 bit, 384khz, DSD256. I hope Fiio releases an updated BTR5 soon (with more voltage control, power, and sound quality increase) with the app expanded control, like that of the es100 and Qudelix 5K have, cuz I think if Fiio does that, they will be hard to match jmt..Q5k seems decent tho and know couple of ppl that really like it..
