+ SwedishHouseFifa John was, and still is, an introverted very shy person. It was Freddie who was able to break John free from that stigma during their tenure with Queen. Sad as it is, John was left very scarred after Freddie passed away to the point that he has pretty much become a recluse.
@dmer-zy3rb5 жыл бұрын
though thats barely even a special thing these days, do you know how many teenagers and young adults are like that? a huge number of them, i guess the difference is that john is an older man, but then again he didnt have what you would call a normal carreer either. so its hard to compare.

You know a band kicks ass when the live version sounds better than the album version.
@CarissaConti5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have their Live Aid live version of "Radio Gaga" downloaded and on my playlist, because it's a million times better than the album version. Not a lot of bands' live performances are better than the album, but Queen is in that category.

JD's is not the original. In music the "borrowing" never stops. ABTD was obviously inspired by Good Times, as were dozens and dozens of tracks incl. Timberlake's "Rock your body". No need to get defensive, Nile Rodgers himself has admitted to and demonstrated how he had done the exact same thing. It's much more common than people realise.

I'll never get over how perfect this performance is. I know, you'd be hard pressed to find any Queen performance where they didn't always just deliver above and beyond with a stage and an audience. This band was born to perform and Freddie Mercury is The greatest ever! to grasp a mic and strike the ivories. The greatest! But this performance, Roger so lost in the music and in the zone, Freddie right there as always, delivering beautifully AND knowing it! This is just a perfect example, one of many, of what no longer exists in these current times. Hasn't in a while. Queen were a one time deal (even though they're still rockin' and I'm seeing them with AL in Nov, even though tickets are high). Queen never needed pyros or crazy lights and theatrics, the guys could show up and reach every last person in whatever large stadium they were playing at the time.

He had a neighborhood band younger than any rock star I've yet heard of--7 years old--but it was a ukelele band, I think--The Bubbling Over Boys! Roger's mother got Queen their first gig. They had to use Roger's name at the top, at first, because he was the only well known one in the area because of all those teenage years playing drums And singing And being the good looking draw for the teenage girls--imagine never having an awkward teenage life, but only one spent as the cutest guy in the neighborhood rock band, and then on to Smile, then Queen/his solo band The Cross (with unknowns.) Brian said on the video, "Roger, I always thought you should have gotten other famous musicians for that band." Roger said, "Now, you tell me that."

@@huguesdery9563 I love synthesizers, but I find their heavy use of symphonic backing tracks *really* annoying. At least it really prevents me from hearing how well the live instruments complement each other - something that makes it very easy to hear why bands like Queen and Led Zeppelin are considered as such extraordinary live bands. It is a fine performance, but it's just a medley of songs. Queen's live performance shines, because they created these 'impromptu' live versions, so the songs are elegantly wowen together. Just listen to Dragon Attack / Now I'm Here from the same concert.

The blend of symphonic music and metal and the pure talent of their musicians and singer make Nightwish so special .
