JOHN RICHARD DEACON!!!!!!! AKA Deaky. You seldom see him interviewed, avoiding the camera or hogging attention because he was very shy. Deacon was the one who did not come from a posh background although he did study engineering at Chelsea College in London. His dad was an insurance agent who died when John was only 11. One of the reasons he stopped performing when Freddie died was his time away from his children (plus he said Freddie, his friend, was irreplaceable). He wanted to be the father his own dad never had the chance to be plus originally he just played to enjoy his hobby and make some extra money, not expecting to be a star. They picked John because he was the best and also thought because he was quiet that he wouldn't steal the show from the three other attention seeking DIVAS, which they were! They were wrong. John seldom spoke but when he did they listened. Brian also said he could cut them to shreds with a single sentence if he wanted to. He was an electrical engineer at the early age of 19 and invented the special amp Brian used to create his unique sound, making it out of parts he found in the trash. He was also great with numbers and handled their finances which helped prevent them from going broke and splitting up. He also wrote several of their biggest hits. "Another one bites the dust", "You're my best friend", "I want to break free". There you go Eddy...Don't EVER forget his name again!!!! LOL. 😜 Saw them live and his bass blew your socks off! Loved the David Attenborough comparison!!!! @2:39 maybe the girls thought it was Isaac Newton, LOL! Top of the Pops wasn't a talent show. It featured different artists sort of like American Bandstand or Hullabaloo in the US that gave artists public exposure. "Mott the Hoople" was another UK band ("All the way to Memphis", "All the young dudes") that toured as headliners with Queen as the warm up act. Derek "Blue" Weaver was their keyboard whizz who the Bee Gees lured away from that band to be THEIR keyboard whizz!

HEYYY EDDY! I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM THAT YOU'RE REACTING TO THIS DOCUMENTARY😃 (I always laugh when Roger & Brian talk about the "same thing"... but Roger's all kind-of negative like "that was rubbish!" and Brian's always positive, saying something like "it was a great experience!"😂 (There's a whole commentary SERIES that Roger & Brian did for the 1981 Montreal concert... every single song performance has their audio conversation overdubbed with it, sharing their reminiscences... and there's often the same "difference of opinion".) ...IDK if you've heard of Dick Clark and his long-running show American Bandstand? Anyway... Top Of The Pops is like the British version of American Bandstand here in the U.S. It's not a talent contest - which is what you were asking... It's sort-of like a television version of teenagers being at a dance club, dancing to the current popular music, and then there's a live guest band/performer every episode as well that the teenagers watch perform while dancing around.😉

I've already seen it several times, but I'm ready to watch it again, again and again. 😆 Top Of The Pops was a very popular British musical television show between the 60s and the early 2000s. Hardly waiting for the next part.

@@Eddycheeee so check it out. David Bowie wrote this song and gave it away to them. He also sang it with Mott The Hoople at Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in April 1992

Top of the pops wasn't like America's got talent because it was not competition it was popular bands but they did not play live they had to mime their music which pissed-off Freddie he did not like that idea but they had to do it. Mott the hoople was a popular band in the 70s I don't remember if they were American or British. Queen came to America and opened for them but pretty soon Queen became more popular than Mott.🖤
