Almost feel my face crack from smiling through this song and who can sit still ? It’s just supreme 😊✌🏼 Believe it or not the guys were tired from touring but they were still great. When Freddie was not totally up for it Roger would always be there for him. The two of them were BFF’s and had been room mates before Queen. Hope you do Milton Keynes next. 🙏🏼😊

I love this live version! According to a new study conducted by the University of Missouri, Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now is the happiest song on earth. 🌍 Certain songs just have that effect on people. 😊

In the Queen biography, 'As It Began', Brian talks about how he had to make a conscious effort to be more active on stage as it didn't come naturally to him. He's got the hang of it by the eighties, pulling power stances and all.

I actually saw a picture of a handwritten letter from Freddie (I don’t know who he had written it to) where he mentioned that he’d been telling Brian and John both that they needed to move around on stage more, and that they both were doing better/getting the hang of it!

Yes.. Brian used to step back more than forward.. but he did get a little more aggressive with his positions after a while.. nevertheless.. I've always been in love with Sr. Dr. Brian May,... since a teenager.. lol

Both Brian and John were introverts and seem super focused on their instruments rather than their bodies/movement. They got there slowly. There's a BIG difference in them at the two sell out shows at Wembley in 1986, which have been widely acknowledged as two of the most incredible rock events ever staged. Have you noticed Brian using the old British currency “six pence” as a pick?. He found the plastic picks too flexible and has made his own sound by the way he uses it, holding it lightly, sometimes using the serrated edge to make different sounds.

If Queen were a boyband, where every member has a certain personality to appeal to the female audience, John Deacon would be the quiet, nice & steady, non threatening schoolboy type. 😁😁 Roger would be the wild bad boy type, Freddie the artsy, over-the-top, flamboyant one, and Brian of course the science nerd. 😂🤣

I agree, this song is the best and it really amps up the audience, Great concert so far and I am sure it will continue to be. Back around this time, you could buy a concert ticket for around $10.00 because concerts were to promote albums and the money from the albums paid for the concerts. Concerts were a whole lot of entertainment for the money back then. I miss those times. I met a man who had a ticket to a Queen concert in Baltimore or somewhere near there. The price marked on the ticket was $4.50.

Back in the old days, before in ear monitoring, mic-ing live concerts was a real problem... esp for the acoustic piano. There weren't really many options and that was why pianos like the Yamaha CP70/80 were such a boon. I used to see them all the time when I was playing out (80s into 90s) but never played one on a gig as I was more a Rhodes guy and when I needed a realistic piano the Roland RD range of digital pianos was available (much loved by Elton John in the 80s too) .... but AFAIK Freddie never liked any electric pianos of any kind (even though the backup keyboard player in the 1980s was using CP80) ... He used to have his grand piano shipped around I believe...

I think Brian said Freddie used that piano through the 1981 Montreal concert and then got a new one and gave the old one to the support band

It’s easy to see why this was performed live only in 1979 tours. The striking pace was hard to replicate amid an, already, energetic concert. Queen+ performs it at a noticeably slower pace.

What’s AWESOME about this particular video you used, Justin, is that the audio balance has been remixed so you can HEAR the audience sing that first part! (In the original, you can’t hear the audience, so it just seems like Freddie just forgot the words 😆)

Def couldn't do all the multilayers in concert. But they re-arranged songs to perform live and did it so well. Freddie and Roger own this one, that's true. John will move more when his cocktail bar gets set up behind the amps. Brian is subdued here too. Not sure why.

Freddie wanted Don't Stop Me Now to be piano based, not guitar based. Brian managed to get his short solo, but he was not very happy about it.

A vocal mic close to mics placed over the piano, close to some kind of monitor no doubt -- a recipe for feedback.

Yes, the studio version is nuanced, one that builds to driving joy and energy. Never saw this live before - agree with your point on difficulty capturing the playful layered, intertwined vocals. But the choice to go full sustained throttle was frantic, trampling that joy, almost beating it senseless for me. People say if you have to make a choice, go bold. This was too bold, all on one note...Until that lovely last moment as the song winds down. Whew.

I wonder if that was the night when Freddie threw an iron at a mirror after the concert because his mic kept popping, Freddie was really pissed, Freddie was a perfectionist and this would have sent him over the top. Anyways this song is so fun. Great reaction

I just can’t hear this song and NOT think of Paul Rudd. If you don’t know what I mean, then you MUST look it up. I recently watched I’m the theater “Queen Rocks Montreal” in IMax. It was amazing and Brian’s guitar work totally stood out more than this concert. It was shot 2 years later than this concert and 9 months before I got to see them live in New Haven.

I think that Brian might have been a bit drunk at this gig, so he conciously pulled of a bit. He also makes some mistakes that are not typical. This is my least favourite of all their live concerts. Everything sounds a bit messy, although Freddie is great.

I’m loving the show, but I agree that there might be some lingering holiday spirit. A few songs back I noticed that Brian’s playing was nowhere near as precise as I’m used to seeing in other live shows. That said, this gig has an amped-up energy and spontaneity that more than makes up for any diminished virtuosity.

I don't know who told you Live Killers was a trainwreck. I've been listening to it since it came out on 8 track. Some snooty douche tells you not to listen and you go with that. Dude it has it's minor, incomprehensible issues, but it's as good as the '79 concert you've been watching. It has almost zero feedback and the edits are not glaring. You can hear the huge crowd singing and the band sounds tremendous. Stop listening to trolls.

Nah, it's not even close to the level of Hammersmith 1979, it has many, many overdubs and it's not even a concert as such, it's a compilation of several concerts from the European tour. Even so, it has good presentations like Dreamer's Ball, Brighton Rock, Now I'm Here, You re My Best Friend, Love Of My Life, etc.

@@normanmartinez1177 I have been listening to Queen since the mid '70s. I'm not saying that Live Killers is the best live Queen album, but in 1979...it was what was available. However, compared to most of bootlegs I've heard over the last 40 years, it better than something someone recorded on a mono cassette recorder, stuffed in their pants amongst a noisy crowd, 40 rows from the stage.
