This is such a powerful song with incredible guitar lines, strong drumming and a solid baseline. Simply put, this song is a masterpiece by Brian. The song really shows off the Sonic Volcano which is Roger and John and of course Freddie rocks the vocals with the energy we always expect from the Queen Frontman...and did I mention the guitar licks??? Freddie Mercury was most definitely one of them few people in life that looked directly into the Grim Reaper's face with absolute no fear or convictions. Freddie knew his time was up and he still kept going on to the very end. He went out like a true rock star, his death has made him immortal, as long as the world turns his music will never be forgotten.

What you have to understand is that in the '80s, people were still very critical of Queen and a lot of great bands were around that people said were better or as good as Queen. They were wrong. The passage of time has clarified who is truly great and Queen and Freddie have come out on top. Absolutely the best. Other rock bands are enjoyable, but they just aren't even in the same category. We're talking about one of the best singers in the world.

They were this good because all four of them had input. Each of them were masters at what they did, so when you get four people working on a song, each bringing their own genius to it, well you can see the results. The other thing that pulls one into their music is that each song is theatre, what happens within the scope of the song, whether it be the lighting, the way they move within the confines of the song, or the music itself - its all coming at you as if you were watching live theatre. That's what makes it so hard to look away. Of course, Freddie was the consummate performer, which was half the battle, but without the backing of the other members and the wall of sound they created, he'd be just another great singer with a powerful voice, but without that magic that seems to be what Queen is. Brian spoke of it in some interview. He said something to the effect that, individually, each is a very good singer and musician, and would do very well on their own in the music industry, but when you put those individuals into a group that is Queen, magic happens, and he is right. For some reason it was ordained that these four individuals should be together to create something that would span time. Have any of the fans told you that they still perform? Even without Freddie the music stands the test of time, the magic lingers. We who grew up with them take our children and their children to the concerts. And whole new generations of Queen fans are born. I love how you two can't take your eyes off the screen. Its the mark of a true fan. 😉

You are right. They can and have done it all. Rock, Pop, Funk, Metal, Blues, ragtime, ballads...you name it. Something for everyone. And what can you say about Freddie that hasn't been said...He was perfect, the voice, the stage presence, he is a legend and he is greatly missed. Music isn't like it used to be, so we are so blessed to have all of these performances/videos so that future generations can enjoy/love Queen as much we do.

One of my absolute favs! The lyrics, they must have been somewhat hard to sing for Freddie, hopeful lyrics while he was dying, actually make them mean even more. Freddie worked right up until he could not and the band was right there with him! What a band! ❤️

Freddie wrote it in 1970 which is he first got together with Roger and Brian, Deacy joined in 1971 and Queen was born. Their first album was released in 1973. Liar is incredible, it’s shows their hard rock roots and the live performance especially gives each band member a chance to shine. I particularly love Deacy’s solo. Live at The Rainbow 🌈, it’s fantastic

Brian May, the lead guitarist, was in college for astrophysics when the band came together. In 2007 Brian May returned to college and completed his degree to obtain his PhD in astrophysics. Smart and talented...great combination!
