Me 😁 The real queen seems a lot more confident and fun than Claire Foy's portrayal of her, oddly. Foy seems to be on the verge of a breakdown in every scene.

The scene where she does her famous speech in season 1 pledging to the common wealth is amazing. Claire Foy was the best QEII in the show in my opinion how she went from a young princess to a Queen with guidance of SWC is just great character development

She was the first and the last user of "Britannia", she launched it and also de-comissioned it. Damn, she was such a strong and long-living woman, but also symbolic and dedicated to her country with all her heart. Great Britain is lucky to have had such a woman as their Queen.

The yacht was the only place she had ever felt was _her_ home, decorated to her taste and not weighed down with history. People say that she owned many homes, but they were actually owned by the institution of the crown, not her. She always felt like the temporary occupant in them. Although she did not technically own Britannia, she was, as you point out, the only principal occupant and it was the only place where she felt she could properly relax.

In The Crown, they didn't have Prince Philip with the Queen in the scene depicting this ceremony, despite that he was in fact there, and then later in the show they have him with the Queen at the 1995 Royal Variety Performance, even though he wasn't at the real event that year.

Surely it was just that she was taken aback by the cheers that greeted her revelation of the ship's name and wasn't sure whether to complete the short sentence that she had to read or wait until the cheering died down?

I also found out that Britannia was the Queen's favorite yacht. I honestly don't understand how that is possible.
@kennethgarland4712
@kennethgarland4712 Жыл бұрын
@@misakarkji8605 'Favourite' is perhaps the wrong word, as it implies that she had several yachts! She and other members of the Royal Family were apparently very fond of the royal yacht Britannia, as it was one place where they could truly relax, away from crowds and photographers. And perhaps you are confused by the term 'yacht', which normally means a small sailing craft. A royal yacht is the personal transport (by sea) of a monarch, and is much bigger and powered by motors. I understand that the USA had a presidential yacht, even as late as the 1960s, though it was smaller and mainly used for cruising on the coastal waters near Washington.

It's been Saud by several people that when she did that grim look it was because she was getting emotional but had been brought up not to show it. Queen Mary, who more or less raised Elizabeth after her father became King, used to have that expression quite often.

Late 40s early 50s was the most amazing time in the history of the world for America but the events that made it possible will hopefully never happen again, its 2023, every free country should be able to provide a paradise for the people that make a government possible for the good of all, not just the criminals in office and their donors, their handlers, puppet masters. I really have the munchies but nothing looks good.
