Күн бұрынBefore we get too busy diving deep into almond pollination and queen breeding seasons, we decided to go clean up all of our bee yards. Follow along Jose Uribe, a Northern California Commercial Queen Breeder and Beekeeper, as he heads to our old mating yard located in beautiful Butte County, California where he and Max meet up with fellow Queen Breeder- Oke of Oke's Busy Bees. Jose briefly shares what a 2-way nuc, 6-way and a transfer is just before loading up the equipment onto Oke's truck.

My husbands farm has quite a large pasture and he always complains of the 200 acres full of cow poop!😂😂but he always wants to go help feed up anyway! Jose you rock! @@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper Mine are 6 and 7... And an 11 yo daughter. They both want to be involved but it's hard with my cranky stock. Will give it another try this season. Looking to post videos with them beekeeping this year so I'll likely reach out for some advice on cameras, etc. Praying you guys have an awesome season ✌️

Jose, I don’t know how I missed this video 2 weeks ago when you posted it but at least I found it now. I have to say that Max is sooo cool and sharp as a tack! I hope that you bring him to Sevierville next January, I want to meet him! He will take the conference away from Kamon! In the video you said that y’all were trying to figure out how to stay legal in CA, the best way that I know is to stay out of CA. lol I’m a gun enthusiast so that’s how I came to that decision, strictly because of the gun laws. Keep up the videos with Max!

God willing, we are making a family trip that way. There isn’t kids allowed at the conference but I’ll have to talk to Kamon about it. Here in Northern California it’s a bit different than most of the state. I think you’d like it.

@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper Jose, as far as kids allowed at the conference my understanding at the one in 2021 was they had to have a ticket but no babies I could be wrong. They are planning on giving a limited number of scholarships for kids next year that’s involved with beekeeping but he may have an age range. I nominate Max for a scholarship! lol It’s always great to see your videos and hear from you. I hope my comments doesn’t get on your nerves.

Ha I think when he did a 360 from being a teacher he really did a 180. Just guessing that’s what he meant. Love helping out the next guy that’s great. I get my son out in the yard a lot also. We truly love helping our friends and our community however we can. Oke is a solid guy and the equipment is going to be coming in handy as he grows. Once I get these bees into the almonds I will shot a small video of what they look like. Thanks for watching my man🤙🏼

Hey hey Jose, Max looked so excited. How many mating yards do you run? I was showing my wife clips of Max, should have seen her smile. So awesome. . And trying to figure out how to be California legal, I didn’t think there was a thing. 😂 Max at the end, lol. . Kinda like me when I find a colony is Queen right after splits. . Lol

Brian, that is so cool! Thanks for sharing with your wife how Max pours his energy and happiness through the screen. We run 5 different mating yards. On the ranch we are in we have the potential to running 30,000 nucs if we wanted to, it’s a extremely large ranch. We’ll be fine with 5k nucs though 👌🏼 Kelly was editing lastnight and I heard her cracking up, she called me in to show me that clip🤦🏻♂️😂😂 such a boy💛

Hi Doug, it depends on what you are looking for because companies sell different variations at different prices, so it just depends on which you like the best and how much you are willing to spend on them per piece. We don't promote a single company but you can find them using Google and check out the options! The ones with the green inserts are the newest model. Thank you for the compliment about parenting! It’s pretty chill here when we complete the nuc installs. They stay around 40 degrees before going out to the mating yards

It will be great to watch him grow into the business :) Should be grafting next year? It amazes me how many mating nucs you place with hardly any forage in site. I noticed many of the CA queen breeders are using HFCS for feed. I don't remember seeing a vid from you on which product you use? The latest paper released, if you "follow the science", MAN I hate that term! Is from Dr. Lewis Bartlett (U of GA) interview with Bob Binnie kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMuahK-HsbqdeZc.html . Thoughts?

@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper one thing about beekeeping is that you should be concerned about what equipment you use, specially when you are making queens for other people. There could be viruses and lots of stuff, dont mind me I just see things should be this way. Please boil your equipment or burn them a bit.
