Cozy was a wicked drummer, was always so accurate with timing, had great feel and groove and what can you say about his sound? Amazing and very sadly missed! RIP Cozy. Lovely speech from Dr Brian May!

I seen Cozy live in Detroit with ELPowell in 1986. I love Carl Palmer and no disrespect. But I gotta say Cozy was killing it on the drums. He was awesome! It was great watching him blast it out between Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. It was at the Fox Theater which has great acoustics.

yeah I saw them at MSG on that tour. Imagine John Bonham with double kicks in ELP and that's what you got. He gave that band some power!

I absolutely love ELPowell, I wish they could last a bit more. No disrespect for Carl Palmer, but I think Cozy was a more passionate drummer, he added some extra hot spice to such powerful and extraordinary musicians as Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. I heard him live playing the old ELP stuff, and believe me, Cozy killed it. Shame they are all gone, and no second album. I think that trio deserved much more. In addition, I followed all his career, and had the delight to see him with Brian (another of my heroes, a fantastic guitar player and gentleman) when they came to Argentina in the 90s. I love Cozy with Brian, Whitesnake, MSG, Rainbow. He was an amazing drummer.

Bill was indeed a brilliant drummer, and he was one those who hit so hard, and with passion. When I first saw Tommy Clufetos, replacing him in the latest Sabbath's tours, I thought "What a beast" in a negative way, I actually thought weird the way he played, but after rewatching some Sabbath old stuff, I realized it wasn't so different from early Bill Ward in Sabbath. I think that alcohol and drug abuse started to affect his skills at the time they were recording Never Say Die and later Heaven N Hell with Dio. From that period onward he was playing much slower, playing almost no drum fills in the songs, and after that he just kept getting "worse". I think if he had stayed more years playing like he did in early Sabbath, he would be more recognized. He was a beast (in a positive way). It is totally possible to see Jazz and Blues influence in the first album "Black Sabbath". He played awesome drum solos live shows, the 5 first albums of Sabbath are truly drum masterpieces, he played awesome fills and was truly savage. It is sad indeed that he never got the recognition he truly deserves.
