lol - yeah, Bohemian Rhapsody film is about Freddie, and Queen. It's fun to watch, as long as you don't believe it is a documentary. Because it's not, it's a Hollywood film - so stuff is out of context, time frames moved around, characters are molded to fit the plot. It's more of a vibe. Still very entertaining and won lots of awards.

It was a fun movie, some truths and quite a few liberties taken with the truth. But a great sound track. And if there is one take away from the movie, it's how wonderful the Live Aid performance was, and how every video reactor should do it. It gives them an understanding how versatile Queen were, and how interactive they were with the audience.

one of the coolest things is that if you LIKE a Queen song (studio version), you'll probably LOVE the same Queen song (live version). And, if you love the "live' version, you can watch many of them from several concerts because each is a different experience! No cookie-cutter performances. Super talented musicians and a mesmerizing lead singer! (The best). Have fun!

Queen has such a presence! I remember watching a video of a crowd waiting for a concert to start, not even a Queen concert. They were playing music before the start just recorded music and one of the songs was Bohemian Rhapsody but it was only the instrumental. I kid you not, the entire crowd sang the whole song, not missing a single word. Queen changed the world with their music and we lost Freddy Mercury way too soon! One of the very few artists that sound better live than in a recording.

Queen never sounded exactly like their studio recording...they wanted to entertain and put on a show and always gave it their all. Fredddie wrote this song which was inspired by Arteha Franklin,, the queen of soul. Live performances show Freddie's showmanship skills. React to more live songs: NOW I'M HERE, tTIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN, IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC live at Wembley and PLAY THE GAME , live in Montreal or at Milton Keynes - all are fire because Queen is considered the best live band of all time.

If you loved that performance you, definitely, need to check out their “Live Aid” performance! It’s AMAZING! Freddie Mercury and Queen are unmatched to this day. Adam Lambert has done Freddie some justice while touring with the band, but there will NEVER be another singer/performer like Freddie Mercury. He was a one off that can be imitated, but never recreated. The mold was broken with him; and I think that’s a good thing.

This is outstanding, I am so glad you got to experience this. Another live masterpiece is Queen: White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975 absolutely mind blowing performance. To hear the opposite side of Freddie's voice to the live song you just experienced today you need to listen to You Take My Breath Away, live at Hyde Park. Both of these are masterpieces. I don't think there is a live Queen performance that I don't love, to be perfectly honest. The band was all about giving the audience the best experience they could ever imagine and Queen always delivered. Thank you for reacting to this outstanding performance. Now go and listen to it again and this time, also keep your eye and ear on Roger Taylor (drummer) because he is singing his lungs out back there throughout the entire song and still slammin' those skins. The movie Bohemian Rhapsody is about Freddie and it is a very good movie but bear in mind when you watch it that it is a movie and not a documentary. The chronology is not correct and some of the "facts" are not really factual. It is a movie so they had to jam 20 years into two hours. Do watch the movie, and do enjoy the movie but don't accept it as a correct depiction of the band or the timeline on Freddie's life. Tomorrow (Nov 24th) will be 30 years since we lost Freddie Mercury, the legend of legends. I miss him and his music every day.

I love this!! Great reaction. I'm sure you know lots of other Queen songs - We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, You're My Best Friend, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want to Break Free, Bohemian Rhapsody (obviously)... there are so so many. I'm glad you made the connection with the movie too, but before you watch it I wanna point out some things (since the movie is *really* inaccurate!) Sorry that it's so long! We Queen people are dedicated, haha. I tried to avoid outright spoilers, but if you're not sure then maybe read it after you watch? 1) Freddie didn't get diagnosed with AIDS until 2 years after their infamous 1985 Live Aid concert (the climax of the movie; you also need to watch their full 20-minute Live Aid set - it's consistently been voted the best rock performance of all time!), in 1987. The movie kind of meshed it all together and sped it up, though I get this was done for drama. It was during their huge, iconic world tour in 1986 that Freddie started to realize he wasn't feeling quite right and that he was tiring more easily, so went to get checked after everything had wrapped up. He did have a throat infection before Live Aid, as the movie shows, but it was just that. They hadn't taken a long break before this Live Aid performance either - the movie made it seem like they had almost forgotten how to perform together. They had just finished a stadium tour like two/three months prior and had some of their biggest performances ever in South America, so that seems an odd direction for the movie to take. Again, I guess it's more dramatic. 2) This is quite minor, but Freddie knew the band before joining (it wasn't a random run-in and they didn't criticize his appearance). He used to follow them around and watch them perform and make suggestions, plus he was roommates with Roger Taylor (the drummer). They all have university degrees! Brian May, the guitarist, has a PhD in astrophysics. Freddie is also a really gifted visual artist (you can still find some of his drawings online) and had a degree in graphic design. 3) Perhaps the biggest inaccuracy is that the band never broke up. They disagreed about a lot, but ALL did solo projects - except John Deacon (the bassist) - to explore other creative facets; Freddie wasn't first to do so either (Roger was; he already had two solo albums by the time Freddie recorded his). Not sure why the movie made it seem like this broke them up! Their album "Hot Space" in the early 80s didn't do well and they took a few years off touring to pursue other things, but all considered themselves part of Queen still. Roger even sang backup and dressed in drag for Freddie in his "The Great Pretender" music video within that time frame, so they clearly weren't estranged and mad at Freddie for doing an album without them. The band fought often (about creative direction, etc., not personal things), but Freddie often said that's why they were great - they all had strong personalities and got equal input. Roger and Freddie in particular were much closer than the movie showed. Jim Hutton (Freddie's eventual common law husband) even once said he saw them as platonic soulmates. Freddie was also very close to John Deacon and constantly tried to nurture his talents and bring him out of his shell. The whole band were like family, particularly closer to the end of Freddie's life when they all came together to protect him from the media. Freddie once wrote an entire song for Brian called "Soul Brother" to help him get through his divorce/depression. The band came together 6 years after Freddie's death to record a song for him called "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)" - the video is super sad. Roger also wrote a song for Freddie called "Old Friends". Brian and Roger are still around and performing, though both have occasionally still gotten emotional over Freddie; Roger has a statue of him in his garden. John never really got over Freddie's death and decided to formally retire from the band in the 90s. 4) Freddie certainly threw insane parties and had a wild lifestyle (mainly during the late 70s-mid 80s), but was never raging or out of control. Roger and Brian made this clear when they defended him against slanderous rumors about him just one week after his death, sickened by the image the media was portraying of him (obviously, especially then, very anti-gay and judgmental of those with AIDS). No members of the band have ever been arrested, gone to rehab (John did have issues with alcohol and a lot of private struggles though), or been accused of assault - not that I judge others, but so many rockstars cannot say the same. They were actually very good at staying out of trouble. There's other little things too, like how they showed "We Will Rock You / We are the Champions" being written in the 80s and how Freddie was kind of told late about what they were all thinking for both... they showed him as separating from the band by then. These are actually late-70s songs, pre-mustache Freddie, and they had decided as a unit to write anthems that would involve the whole audience. Brian wrote "We Will Rock You" and Freddie wrote "We Are the Champions". I love that the movie brought more fans to Queen, but it didn't really do any favors for Freddie's reputation - the one person no longer here to defend himself. However yes, he did love his cats and Mary Austin, haha. That's all accurate. I know this might be confusing before watching the movie, but I just wanted you to know! Freddie Mercury, as you can see, was definitely one of the most talented musicians ever, and is considered by many to be the best rock frontman and lead singer of all time. One of the best singers period, though he was far from technically perfect (he never had lessons and didn't want to sound too polished). Just insane natural skill!

Freddie was also a smoker like most if not all were in the early '80's. I was and I was 11 in 1981!!! I'm always reminded of the sad thought that Brian May (guitarist) has repeated often in interviews that had Freddie had been diagnosed only one year later than he was, he likely would have lived because of the advancements in medications and therapies to fight HIV/AIDS.

If you thought this performance was amazing you should react to their 1985 Live Aid concert.. It really shows how well his stage presence was and how much control he had.. It will really blow your mind.. Great reaction as always keep up the amazing work .

Freddie is the best , I love so much about him. The other members of the band are shockingly talented too. They all have genius level IQs. it shows in performances, doesn't it? Everything is above the rest. They rehearsed a lot, too.

Yep!! Bohemian Rhapsody is about Queen as a band, but has a heavy focus on Freddie Mercury!! I’ve mentioned it in a comment before, but my all time favorite Queen performance - and arguably their best ever - is their 1985 concert for Live Aid. Every. Single. Performance. Was. Iconic. Freddie Mercury sang and interacted with the crowd so well, there was a point where he was singing notes for the crowd to mimic - one of those was nicknamed ‘The Note Heard ‘Round the World’ (Aaaaaaay-O!!) There will never be a day when I don’t yell about it, and you should definitely react to the live aid concert soon!!!

Some of the guys may drink beer during the set, but Freddie drank tea with honey. Not only did he need to keep his throat lubricated during a long concert, he was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal cords in 1975 so he was careful not to let his throat dry out. Plus he once said that he would never drink beer during a performance and risk burping in the mic, it would be rude to his fans.

I have the DVD of this concert. Freddie drank that Heineken beer on the piano you see in this video immediately after he gives the right hook at the end of "Somebody To Love" (at minute 19:12) and right before he tells the crowd it's ok to move around and even take their clothes off if they want to.

With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila. - Peter Hince (aka Ratty), Fred’s and John’s roadie and head of Queen’s crew.

Listen to Save Me live Montreal 1981. Brian the guitarist plays piano then Freddie takes over and Brian switches to his guitar. Four talented musicians the best ever live. Saw them twice. This tour The Game 1980 and Hot Space 1982.

Hey bro. That time was very ok to smoke and drink in public and we didn't need nannies for to stay home alone, no helmets for to ride bikes, no plastic problems etc and I LOVE there wasn't internet (stupid phone zombies etc). It was the REAL life.

Great reaction! I discovered Queen during the 70’s, the first song I heard on the radio was “Killer Queen” in 1974, I was hooked! So blessed to have seen them Live, front row, near Freddie and his piano in a smaller venue. Sis and I were awestruck teenagers, we will never forget it for as long as we live. I kept waving my camera at Freddie, finally, he noticed, he grabbed a drink and saluted us fans long enough for me to take a picture. I digitally transferred the photo! Freddie Mercury was the FIRST celebrity I took a picture of. Not many can say that. Keep listening to more Queen, you won’t be disappointed!! 🙂🙂🙂

The Milton Keynes performance is also amazing, but I think I prefer Freddie’s insane opening in the Montreal version and the end plus Milton Keynes is missing Roger’s falsetto at the very end. But that’s just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just like Love of My Life in Montreal, at Wembley and Rock in Rio. All three performances are amazing but they are all different

Aww I wish you could see their Live Aid performance before seeing the movie. But I'm SO glad you are going to watch the movie. It's good. The movie does a great job reenacting that performance. But it will still be fun to react to the Live Aid video. It's long, but worth it.
