The ingenuity in these clattering contraptions is a wonder to behold; one supposes that profit was the driver. The design and action of all those components bears witness to the brains that brought a vision into actuality.

As crew member on a steam locomotive here in California I love steam stuff and all the mechanical moving parts. I also love the fact that not only is this one still working but it's still producing product

a simple weaver's knot like that won't slip in the example simply because it's staple yarn. try that with heavy denier filament polyester or nylon and it won't hold.

Then you tie a barrel knot as in tyre cord

I think there must have been a way to move the belt drive onto an idling pulley, at the loom end. No health and safety back then!
