The thing about Queen: they were SO good that they always sounded SO much like their album recordings. Freddie was that good of a singer, and the rest of them were that good of musicians. So professional and they obviously wanted to give those who attended their concerts their money's worth!

Brian May in a recent interview stated people keep talking about what a great phenomenal frontman Freddie was but May kept talking about what a great vocalist Freddie was which is sometimes overshadowed by on stage theatrics. Queen was one of those rare bands that you could not categorise. They came out with pop classics and great rock tracks and also haunting poignant songs such as "These Are The Day's of Our Lives". All 4 members were great song writers too. One of the most original and unique bands in music history.

A collaboration with David Bowie, this is credited to "Queen with David Bowie" because the B-side of the single is Queen's "Soul Brother." It was recorded at an impromptu session in Montreaux, Switzerland in the summer of 1981. According to Queen bass player John Deacon, Freddie Mercury did most of the songwriting on this, although everyone contributed. The lyrics deal with how pressure can destroy lives, but love can be the answer. The lyrics are characteristic of Mercury's songwriting. Deacon however did come up with the iconic two-note bass riff, although it came very close to vanishing: according to Roger Taylor in the Days of our Lives documentary, Deacon came up with the riff, then the band went for pizza before coming back to continue rehearsals. Upon returning, Deacon had completely forgotten his idea! Luckily, Taylor eventually remembered how the bassline went. Brian May recalled to Mojo magazine October 2008. "It was hard, because you had four very precocious boys and David, who was precocious enough for all of us. David took over the song lyrically. Looking back, it's a great song but it should have been mixed differently. Freddie and David had a fierce battle over that." May adds to this feeling of the sessions being fairly strained in a further interview for the Days of our Lives documentary, where he notes that "suddenly you've got this other person inputting, inputting, inputting... he (David) had a vision in his head, and it's quite a difficult process and someone has to back off... and eventually I did back off, which is unusual for me." (Songfacts.com)

Freddie's never ending/soaring 'WHYYYYYYYY' on the bridge still gives me goosebumps. I remember where I was and from what radio station when I first heard this. Talent is present in all forms of music. Todays music is way different from Queens music then but remember this. When Queen created Bohemian Rhapsody, they were breaking barriers. Morphing Classic Rock with Opera. An unlikely marriage of two much different genres. And it worked so well and was performed so well it became one of the worlds most famous and recognizable songs of all time. Music is in a constant state of evolution. Todays sound is different from yesterdays and is different from tomorrows as well. There is brilliance in some of the rap songs I’m hearing. It’s not what I grew up with but in my mind all music is derivative. We all steal a little bit either consciously or subliminally. You are right that musicianship has taken a back seat to electronic drum kits, pretaped riffs, etc. but talent exists in all forms of music. Don’t get to comfortable with music the way it is because I guarantee you it will not last. It’s evolving even as we speak. Personally I love that. What lies around the corner ? I’m excited to find out

Bowie and Annie Lennox performed the song on the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Also amazing performance. By both of them. Of course also with the remaining members of Queen. Axl Rose did We will rock you on it and then together with Elton John Bohemian Rhapsody. But Under Pressure is definitely my highlight of that concert.

The wierdest thing is that the only reason David Bowie did not perform with Queen for this song at Live Aid was that David Bowie was stuck in traffic so he was late. David Bowie played right after Queen at Live Aid. Seriously, David Bowie was the act that followed Queen at that very concert.

He wasn’t warming up he was getting the crowd going! It was such an amazing event. I tried to sneak out of the house to see Queen when I was way too young and got caught. My biggest regret is never seeing them live.

OHHH YAAAAAY!!! This MADE MY DAY, Guys…. BTW, You know that on October 13, Queen released a NEW SONG (YEP, with FREDDIE’S VOCALS!!!) “FACE IT ALONE” (It was an unfinished demo from their 1988-89 recording sessions.) On the song’s first day out, it went to Number 1 on ITunes… in 22 COUNTRIES. Since it came out on the 13th, it’s been viewed on YT almost 8 MILLION times.👑

Beautiful and haunting song. I reacted to it on my channel. Wow it was hard to hear Freddie's anguish in the lyrics and voice. Judging by his voice alone, I would guess that Face It Alone was probably rather late in the Miracle sessions.

the little part he did in the beginning is whats known as "call and answer" Freddie used to like to do it just to have a bit of fun with the crowd. it's really just some vocal warm up exercises.

I'm not particularly a Queen fan, I like some of their early stuff, but I have to admit that Freddie was the greatest, most charismatic front man ever. He could play the piano and the guitar but his main instrument was the audience, he was a virtuoso at playing that.

Nope, he wasn't really sick here. He was tired, yes, and it was around this time he started to notice that something was wrong, but he didn't know and he wasn't diagnosed until a year later(1987). They stopped touring after this tour and Freddie never performed live once he started to get very sick.
