This is an early Queen masterpiece! So many people have never heard it. It is a must in my opinion. Freddie's vocals are pristine. His piano skills are unbelievable, and Brian's guitar is breathtaking. To think, Freddie said he couldn't play the piano very well....ah....Freddie you were spectacular. Brian wrote this song about a girl he had a crush on and didn't have the nerve to approach her. So they took this very simple concept and turned it into a masterpiece. One of my favorites. No, all their songs are my favorite ❤❤❤. My Defense is another one to watch. Thanks much Kaye

You are right, Brian left his fingerprints on every songs he wrote. This beautiful ballad is so well built up, all the instruments supports each other. They loved to be uncategorizable and that made them so uniqe. Freddie was wearing here his "Mercury costume", with small wings at the wrists and ankles, because Mercury was the messangers of the Gods in the Roman mithology and he was depicted in the fine art that way.

This is one of the best songs ever. Thanks for the reaction, Phil. Three early Queen favorites I would suggest are Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll, Live at the Rainbow March 1974. It's a banger by Roger. There is an instrumental section that is as locked in as the guys could be. The other is Liar, Live at the Rainbow November 1974. Freddie wrote this when he was with IBEX, I believe it was. Then there is In The Lap of the Gods, Revisited, A night at the Odeon -Hammersmith1975!

Thank you, Phil - this is an astounding live performance - the interplay between guitar and keys.. AND drums/bass... then add Fred's incredible vocals... it's pretty much perfection!

Yes it was written by Brian May. And Freddy had a persona in public and on stage - but actually he was shy and humble in private - very generous .

Hey Philip... so glad to see you enjoy this performance so much, it is one of my favorites too... thank you very much for sharing your Queen experiences with us... Digging down deeper into the rabbit hole, there is "Ogre Battle", good vs. evil, or "My Fairy King" or "Liar", all excellent songs with typical Queen falsettos and transitions... blessings.

Good call yes Brian wrote the song come on and you have to be pretty musical in order to intuit that. IMO, this is the best Queen live instrmental performance, certainly from a piano and the guitar perspective. Pure Magic

Such a masterpiece! And Freddie found a young Zandra Rhodes, a bridal designer, to make them those iconic (bridal) satin winged costumes. Queen was 4 star crossed geniuses, who played beyond humanly. ❤
