Yes, they actually have floor to ceiling windows, the bottom of them is a kick plate that go out to a small porch usually on a upper floor. Check out some of the old plantation houses you will see them and how they were used. You got a pretty great haul too. Have a great day

Score! You got some great finds. I love the bed with the dollhouse headboard. That is adorable. I can’t wait to see you make little furniture for it. I have never seen window frames go all the way to floor. I love it though. I couldn’t really tell about the tin ceiling tiles, which side was better. Whichever side you pick will work for me, since you are seeing it in real life. Much love to you!

After finishing the farmhouse, I didn't think I'd be making 1:144 scale furniture again for a little while but that headboard NEEDS furniture 😆 Maybe I'll make a poll and ask my viewers what they think about the tile. The "right" side has the pattern raised and sticking out. The wrong side has an embossed pattern.

Super haul! I'm actually a little envious! We don't even have dollhouse stores in Vermont. No club for dollhouse miniaturists, either...😥

For stained glass, there used to be a product called Gallery Glass, it was for life size decorations but the bottles of color were around the same size as a bottle of acrylic paint, an ounce or two. You used the "leading" stuff to follow a design, let it dry, and then fill in with the colors. If it was a solid design, you could just peel the whole thing off the window when done, or put in another window. I used it to make ornaments one year, using the glass balls you get at the craft store. For a mini scale you might need to put it into a bottle with a finer tip. There are probably other brands. You could lay down flat color, or put texture in it like make little swirls and stuff, the clear color with texture would be good for privacy in a bathroom, that sort of thing. I think you could probably mimic that with hot glue though

I completely forgot but I bought a tube of Pebeo Cerneo Relief liner. It's very similar to gallery glass. It's quite thick so it's hard to make fine lines with it. I bought it make details on furniture and frames to look like carved wood. It may work for leaded glass but I really like the metallic stuff. Maybe aluminum tape would work.
@recoveringsoul755
@recoveringsoul755 2 жыл бұрын
@@queencityminis ooohhhhhh, or when you said metallic it made me think of the gold leaf stuff, where you put down sticky stuff and put gold leaf on it. Maybe there are other colors of leaf? Or, embossing powder where you get a raised result with a heat gun and a massive array of colors . You can use clear embossing ink, or colored ink. you could use a rubber stamp for a pattern. You know, I saw a video where someone made a stained glass lamp shade with clear plastic, and they got little bit of lace, painted it black, and put that on the shade. Then used tiny dots of nail polish for the color. They had used the in between part of a lace pattern, where it was sort of uniform bubbles, not a flower or butterfly or heart pattern. They made it look like flowers, with a yellow center, surrounded by red cells, occasional green for leaves. You'd never know it was lace

Im blown away by all the absolute bargains you scored! Well done Shyra! You mentioned plans to build a castle, as well as an English style pub room box one day, are they still part of your future plans?
@queencityminis
@queencityminis Жыл бұрын
Building a cardboard castle is a Patreon project for Patrons of Bentley House Minis. Some of the Patrons are working on theirs and then Ara posts updates. Ara has her own cardboard castle she works on during live streams. I wanted to get in on the fun, but I've been too busy. Maybe someday. I would love to make an English pub someday. Maybe that's what I should do with my Tudor dollhouse. I could make a bar downstairs and living quarters upstairs!

Such a great haul. I like the embossed paper on the right side for a personal reason- my father had a restaurant in an 1869 building with that type of tin ceiling. It had white gloss paint.

I live in an home from 1849. There is window trim that goes from the window top to the floor. The area under the window has nice moulding and is painted the same as the frame.

Though I can’t be a hundred percent sure I think it has to do with the construction of the house. Once the house framing was done, the exterior was covered in clapboard. The interior was lathe and plaster. Now, as the house heats up, condensation forms on the windows and trickles down the panes. If there was lathe and plaster under the windows it would soon be ruined. By putting wood underneath and painting it, the base of the window holds up better over the years. Lathe and plaster was also often wallpapered over and the paper would also have been ruined. I hope this all makes sense.

Plaid makes a paint called "Gallery Glass" and it comes in all colors. I am testing it out for my dollhouse I'm building and I am determined to do stained glass windows. the "leading" is fairly easy to work. I transferred the leading into a smaller bottle that uses a luer lock syringe tip and can easily control the flow so it looks to scale.
@queencityminis
@queencityminis 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds great! I remember seeing Bentley House Minis use that product but she had a really old bottle. The tip was quite big. A smaller bottle sounds brilliant.
