Rock royalty at its finest and four geniuses!! The only band ever to have all four members write number one top hits & got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and 2001 and all four members were inducted into the writers Hall of Fame in 2003. I was really surprised that John Deacon didn't show up for that because Freddie Mercury worked a lot with him to help his writing and vocals. John came in at 19 years old and he wasn't arrogant but just damn good on the bass so he became a permanent member. John retired in 1997 from music forever and I'm guessing it's because he knew the band was legendary and they had completed all of the works left by Freddie Mercury by 1995. The three remaining members wrote and performed " Only You The Good Die Young" in 1997 and they had that one last performance in Paris with Elton John in 1997 and that's when John decided to retire. John was so frustrated during the band's visit to France because they had to perform with an orchestrated dance show and they didn't have a lead singer until Elton John showed up unexpectedly. Before Elton showed up the band members had planned for Brian and Rodger to sing two of the numbers that Freddie Mercury would have otherwise performed. Brian and Rodger both said that John was extremely perturbed and upset the day is coming up to that performance and even after Elton showed up the day before the performance it didn't make John feel any better. I saw the video clip, and John looked angry, frustrated, and hurt because I think deep down he knew the band had done everything they could do as a group after Freddie Mercury died and that was it. John Deacon was even quoted as saying shortly after Fred's death, ' well, it's all over now because we've lost 1 of our members and we've gone as far as we can go". John was really super fragile & took Freddie Mercury death even harder than Brian and Roger despite the fact that Brian and Roger had known Freddy longer. I'm glad to see that Rodger and Brian are still rocking away 70 + years old and having a good old time with a young Adam Lambert and whoever is playing the bass looking back in retrospect I guess Freddie Mercury was right at their last tour in 1986 at Wembley in London by saying " the band would be together until they all f-ing died, Im sure"..

This is a bit off i think. You can watch the non overdubbed version and its still great. Just a few bits added that were obvious anyway like the dreeeeaaaam on one vision. Still sounds good without the over dub. Freddies voice, is a little hoarse but in my opinion its great. I like that he sounds "hard" for it. He went for everything hoarse and all and nailed the whole thing. This is one of his best live performances ever as far as i see it. Yes his vocals have been smoother or tighter but wembley is a proper live performance, gritty and real. Everything went right. Brian nailed soloes that werent always perfect like hammer tf and magic and freddie fucking killed it.
