I used to think home schoolers were nutters… Now that the school curriculum is not only nuts, but evil… …home schooling is wisest! My now adult son agrees!

Best thing we did for our kids was educate them at home. They no longer hear everyday from State teachers how they should say sorry to a certain minority for invading Australia, and how they must accept trans etc.

As a retired public school teacher I can say that home-schooling your child 3 hours a day is the way to go. We had to get our literacy lessons done before recess otherwise we would run out of time. There was so much waste of time and everything else, including standing on an oval for over an hour to get an anniversary picture, took precedence over being in the classroom learning. The other thing is that there is no rigor in the curriculum anymore. Every child is rewarded for being mediocre. The talented children are not catered for, so are dragged down by all the misfits. All by design of course. The common core curriculum in America dumbed everything down. The last point I want to make is that so many university graduates these days cannot get work in their field of study and are in debt for thousands of dollars. They may as well be a Ytube influencer.

I wish that I was home-schooled. I was constantly physically and mentally abused throughout high-school. Teachers didn't care. Police didn't care. I was beaten next to the cafeteria so bad once that people thought I was dead. Every time I thought that the abuse would end it just got worse.

Bullying and discipline are two key factors. Very little teaching can occur when kids are bullied and the teacher can't teach due to students out of control.

Only way kids will actually learn.

We unschool and our children learn about what interests them. How do we all learn, by following our interests. Look into the figures of how many families unschool in Queensland. You do not need to follow the curriculum to succeed.

After 30years as a science teacher I am now helping my daughter homeschool her children - we spend 1 day a week with them doing the science! Both children are ripping through the curriculum and are not spending 7-8 hours a day away from home! They have a rich learning environment and have 2 sets of grandparents helping out as well! Sadly it is expensive to homeschool as a parent has to spend some time out of the workforce - plus finding equipment and buying it is difficult too! We have learned to be very creative!

The homeschooled children I know are simply incredible. They are so confident, bright-eyed, intelligent, can converse with adults in mature ways, and are entreprenerial in amazing ways, starting their own business in their late teens and following their passions. Furthermore, they don't seen to have the same anxieties and hang-ups of schooled children, who not only have to learn in a dogmatic environment, but also have to cope with bullying, etc. If I had kids I would definitley homeschool.

The education system is substandard in Australia. The teachers ought to be subject to testing to confirm they understand and can actually teach the curriculum they are supposed to be delivering. I am now homeschooling my child as we are fed up with substandard teaching…we use Euka and are loving it and our child is now thriving! Ps, my child was not allowed bring home readers in grade 1 because her teacher said there was no point because she can’t read! I was so shocked and had to obtain my own set of readers for her and the school would not provide us with a copy of the scope and sequence of phonics learning so we could assist her home (we were fed up) she is now in grade 3 and can read well and is thriving through grade 3 at home.

My daughter is in year 8 in a selective school. The things they are learning are more appropriate for my 10 year old.

Parents are the best educators. Increased parent child time benefits passing on faith morals ethics as well and children respecting their parents

Proud NSW homeschooler. Our 15 year old son wakes up and goes to bed whenever he wants. Has hours of free time everyday. We only study Monday to Thursday for 2 hours. There is a Gold mine of online websites to choose from. We decided on an eclectic curriculum.

Yes. My then 5 year old family member was scared and crying because she thought she was going to die. I love homeschooling and did it, but some people should not do it. The reasoning should be what she said. To give a personalised learning way and focus based learning. To integrate them into a community that is of different ages.

This makes me sad, in a way. I taught in a public school in the US. I retired in 2010. I would have never done the things these teachers are doing today. My students scored extremely high in their end of year testing. I agree that each student has a different way of learning, but I know I was unable to find out each child's way. I had up to 30 students in my classroom. It have taken help in my classroom to have served every student better. 😭

Schools are a factory education. It suits some kids.. Homeschooling teaches individual acceptance while learning their way at their speed, without judgement or comparison. Big believer in changing the environment, not the child!

All my grandchildren are homeschooled 3 in Queensland and 3 in SA, never been to any school their doing great. Ages 2 to 11. I've spoken to a few homeschool children in Queensland and was impressed with their reasoning and response to questions. Very knowledgeable

Between woke teaching agendas - indoctrination regarding LGBTQ, pro Aboriginal to the disadvantage of Australia as one nation, Pro Palestinian ideology etc. That coupled with the fact 18 year olds can't read or write or do basic mathematics and they have no concept of Australia or its place in the world. I have heard too often that senior high school students come home from school saying they didn't have their Maths teacher again today so another video was watched, they didn't learn anything productive.

🇬🇧Correct. Same here, one of our teenage grandkids has suffered terribly from the p- demic through her GCSE years with self harm, eating disorder and watching Suicide Videos on YT and Tick-Tock. The family has managed to save her (hypnotherapy helped no end) and home school her to get English and Maths but the anxiety pops up still with serious anger episodes. She now has a part time job which has helped her a lot until she is 18 when she can be considered an adult. What is rarely mentioned is the mental harm to the family looking after such a child and each having to brave the evil restrictions put upon us by equally evil politicians. NB: Her school tried every which way to prevent us from home schooling her. Only being placed under Psychiatric care shut them up.

Kids at home doing the state curriculum are in state Distance Education schools and are not reflected in these stats. These stats are for kids enrolled in the home education unit where parents put together a plan sourcing curriculum themselves to provide a “high quality education” in QLD we don’t have to follow the national curriculum.

I was home schooled until Secondary, when my parents enrolled me in Highschool, and I had to dumb myself down to try to fit in at all. I have never fit in and as I'm almost 70 I never will. So I suppose it's a question of whether you want intelligent, progressive thinkers or production line stereotypes. Just know that a lot of us don't believe in your biased ideas of what indoctrination is.

Could it have anything to do with the ineffective public schooling system promoting woke agendas and not promoting academics and those academics that they do provide they undervalue and use systems promoted by state of the art academics, but they don’t work. Use the good old fashioned teaching methods used by us once upon a time and now used by 3rd world who now rank ahead of us.

Not all are suited to the mainstream classrooms and no matter your opinion, it is not the govts job to tell a parent what is best for their child. That is a decision parents make, along with their children, based on the compelling evidence they have of their own personal experiences. Personally, removing my sui/ **ci dal son from a toxic environment, was the best decision we ever made. Doesn't help for anxiety because its still a classroom at home unless yr up to a full curriculum teach urself I sure hope the cost has gone down, we need way more half schools, the wait is 3 years although improving the current schools so we didn't have to leave and throw away any education would be preferable
