In this video I use a hori hori knife to collect a little Quercus seedling that is growing nearby. It was carefully bagged up and taken home to be potted in a soil mix containing sphagnum moss.
The sphagnum moss was added to help the tree survive the upheaval and repotting process even though I tried not to disturb the roots any more than needed.
Once potted that young oak seedling was well watered. To add some interest and movement to the tree, thin wire was also added to put some bends into the otherwise straight trunk.
