If you watch the scene closely, Question puts the drive in the opposite direction of where he pulled it out. He gave her a fake and wanted to go with her.

When I first watched Watchmen, I couldn't stop thinking about how much Rorschach was like the Question, I knew it couldn't be a coincidence, so I looked it up and of course I was right in my assumption that Rorschach was based of the Question.

In fact, the Question was one of a number of characters who originated in Charlton Comics. When DC got the rights to Charlton's characters. the plan had been to have Moore write a story in which the entire Charlton universe was destroyed, and select characters transferred to DC. He took his time, though, and most of the characters got brought into DC anyway, so he had to write expys for them all. Captain Atom became Dr. Manhattan, the Blue Beetle became Nite Owl (complete with an original Nite Owl who'd died before our story begins!), the Question became Rorschach, and so on.

The best thing Is that Question has read Watchmen, and even tried to copy him once, and he concluded that Rorschach sucks.

+Vdiffuser Batman runs on a baseline of logic. He has a suspension of disbelief that can be crossed. The Question doesn't. There's no idea too out there and he's willing to believe anything and do anything to prove he's right (which he usually is). Considering the world that they live in, The Question is obviously the better detective. Because he understands that literally ANYTHING is possible, whereas Batman limits his gaze to his world and what he believes is possible.

SirImprov909 Also despite Dr. Manhattan being there, Watchmen was supposed to be the more "realistic" side of the super-hero genre which is why primarily all the heroes there were humans; specifically with Comedian and Owl, they're gadget heroes using weapons to fight and armor to protect themselves from extreme harm the only "Meta-human" there was Dr. Manhattan, but even his power is based on something realistic even if taken to an unrealistic level by making him living nuclear energy and able to transcend time and space because of his power. but without counting Dr. Manhattan Watchmen is on a more reality based POV for "Super Heroes" where what if ordinary people like us decided to fight like our favorite crime fighters from the comics, what would it be like? and they happened to have arch-villains to match as well. so i wouldn't say fearful symmetry is based on watchmen, if anything the DC comics chapter it's based on (forgot the title specifically) is likely what inspired watchmen cuz these guys came first

Alan Moore then created what where quite nearly the same characters under different names, Captain Atom becoming Dr Manhattan, and The Question becoming Rorschach. P.S. On Question:The red hair and his casual dislike for appearance is a bit of a tip that they where making an intentional homage..

Until DC found out he intended to kill off most of the characters and wouldnt allow that to happen because they too had plans of using them. So instead a compromise happened and he ended making characters based on the Charlston characters instead. Rorschach was the Question, Night Owl was the Blue Beetle, Dr Manhattan was Captain Atom, etc.
