This week the girls are doing a legendary podcast swap: Remi and Alisha are joining forces with Jaci and Chelsey from the What We Said Podcast. In this episode, they talk about many topics, including: friendships and how they evolve with age, marriage and motherhood; establishing your own beliefs and re-navigating your faith; Mormon-Tok (artisan sodas, Vegas, um…SOAKING?) They also tackle self-acceptance and finding your “ride-or-die” bestie.

The religion talk is something that needs to be talked about so much more! Growing up Catholic than later a Christian my whole life there is a lot I have had to unpack as I got older and had my own morals and thoughts that differ from what I’ve been taught. For me, my parents have allowed me as I grow older not being forced to go if I didn’t want to it became my choice and I believe that needs to be done more so for kids growing up. Love this honest convo!

I’m 25 and everything you guys were saying about religion resonated with me SO much. You don’t understand the anxiety I’ve had realizing I don’t have the same beliefs as my family. Realizing I was brought up one way and now that I’m older and experiencing life for myself it’s made me feel so alien. I really really hope this is something you guys can speak more on. It has literally calmed me down so much to know I’m not alone and my thoughts are shared. Thankyou, you all have beautiful souls 💕

i’m so glad how respectful they all were of the mormon religion. there is so much back lash on the church and everyone is so rude towards it as if it is the only religion with “rules” remember we all have agency and a choice to make and if you feel like the church or your religion isn’t what’s right for you then that’s okay. Anyways thanks for being respectful

i REALLY appreciate their talk on religion. as someone who is in a similar situation, i really appreciate how they didn’t bash on mormonism and rather they explained how different it is for everyone. I am the exact same with the idea of being a positive influence to the younger kids in the church but also allowing myself some leeway and defining my religious journey as my own. i feel like a lot of people view mormonism as small cultural things rather than the actual doctrine of the church. growing up with siblings who are full fledged members and other siblings who have completely left, i can see both sides, and it’s nice to know that there are people in the half and half situation like me. after all, being someone with liberal and progressive ideals, it’s almost impossible not to be half and half when it comes to things like this. thank you for this very open and nice conversation

I grew up catholic and having to go to church ever single Sunday until I moved out. None of my siblings and I go to church anymore because it was just a negative experience with our mom. She'd be full on yelling at us before church to get ready or over anything and then act like she was so holy. When we saw how she would be so mean but yet go to church we just knew that going didn't make you a better person. So my siblinga and I are all good people but find different ways to better ourselves that we know actually work. Like therapy, which my mom refuses to go to.

I love this episode! And the religion talk! And that you guys talk about your own experience. I think hearing from others experience help us to know we are not alone. For me, I’m not confused or anything about my religion, but I agree on how people in church can be so hypocritical when literally there are bible verses that talk about loving one another. And yeah whenever someone wants to leave we shouldn’t be pressuring for them to stay. Religion is a journey and a personal relationship between the person and the entity they believe in.

Girls and guys can be friends, with boundaries. Personally, I'm friends with two exes. One where he's a friend of my friends so I don't see him unless there's a gathering. And one where he's a close friend where we will hangout and talk for hours. When we are in relationships with other people, one - I make sure my partners are okay with me hanging out with him (my current and past ex are LDR), and two - I maintain a distance with him when he has a girlfriend... In situations where she is not present, I make sure there's a third party (a mutual friend) hanging out with us. Just not to stir anything up.

I think in many cases, the guy/girl best friend thing ends in one of them, or both, liking the other. However, just as siblings can have platonic bonds....non siblings can too. But I think that's more rare.
