"I could use his help right now" he never meant it as in helping him with the separatists...Dooku wanted his former padawan to help him save himself, it was always clear, especially in Tales of the Jedi that Qui Gon was Dooku's conscience and that his death was what pushed Dooku to the dark side.

I like that Dooku had already left the Jedi, but he was still allowed to visit the temple and was basically treated with so much respect whenever he did so. It just shows how trusted he was by the order, especially Yoda. It just makes it all the more devastating that he would join the Sith and become such a villain.

@@MrBell-iq3smI think it’s a bit more nuanced than that. Dooku blamed the Jedi for Qui-Gon’s death since they didn’t take the threat of the Sith returning seriously. Plus it’s pretty clear that Dooku was planning on killing Sidious and taking over. The theory is that he wanted to create a new order that would’ve never allowed Qui-Gon to die

@MrBell-iq3sm In episode 1 the Jedi didn't consider Maul more than a one-off. They didn't want to consider that there was something bigger at work and by the time they did it was too late. In a way, this is exactly how Sinestro became a villain he believed in the Corp but believed the guardians weren't doing enough and he had to go against them to push them where he thought they needed to go.

Yeah, Qui Gon wouldn’t join him. He respects his Master, but seeing his character in the first film, he was the most pure Jedi I have ever seen next to Yoda. And he believes that Anakin is the chosen one, and that he was willing to take Anakin under his wing to make sure he would learn the ways of the Jedi, even though he was already training Obi-Wan.

If Qui-Gon was alive, he definitely would not have joined Dooku. If anything, he would try to convince his old master to turn his back on the Separatists and the Sith and try to help him come back to the light. However, I can only imagine it ending in a duel between the two. Then again, I wonder if Dooku would have joined the Separatists at all if Qui-Gon was still around.

Qui-Gon jinn is basically Dooku’s Son when he died at the hands of Darth Maul that was the last straw and he left the Jedi order and never came back and he became a Dark Jedi but with a Jedi’s approach to things. Training under Sidious for 10 years being a pawn of him from the very beginning and commanded the CIS and General Grievous met his Grandson Obi-Wan in Episode 2 and Fought him Multiple times during the 3 year long War and never wanted to Truly kill him. Then in Revenge of the Sith he finally realized that he was just a Pawn in PALPATINE’S grand plan just before he was decapitated by Anakin Skywalker.

*FUN FACT:* Qui-gon would absolutely join Dooku. Anyone claiming otherwise is simply wrong/lying. In TPM Qui-gon already dislikes the Jedi order and more or less does his own thing. Dooku is very similar to that but a bit more extreme. More importantly, Dooku intended on overthrowing Palpatine but he knew he couldn't do it alone and that's where Qui-gon comes in or would have if not for his death. Obi-wan was a fool to reject Dooku without even properly considering his words.
