Quick and Easy Ways to Propagate a Tropical Garden with Banana, Canna Lily, & Elephant Ear Plants

These are all the methods that I use to propagate my tropical garden in California. I have over 70 varieties of tropical plants in my California garden and I propagate many of my plants. My garden consists of mainly Elephant Ear plants including Alocasias and Colocasias, Canna Lily plants and Banana plants.
In this video, I show all the ways that I propagate these plants to produce a lush and beautiful garden with hundreds of plants. Propagating tropical plants is easy because they grow rhizomes, corms, or tubers that can easily be divided or separated from the mother plant. Watch how I created my garden through propagating these wonderful plants.

Great video! I grow cannas from seed and bought two varieties as corms: canna stuttgart and canna Striata. I overwintered two of my maureliis in the dining room. they are amost 6ft high. :)

Thank you! Those two variegated Cannas are some of my favorites. Fortunately, I can leave my Maurellis outdoors for the winter, and not have to grow them indoors.

Thank you! It seems like my longest videos get more views. I did a 30 minute video on Canna Lilies last year kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8B-Z9qfmJu-ZH0.html and it’s still getting lots of views. I like making short videos that get to the point so they don’t get boring. If this video does well, I guess I’ll have to make more like it. But I would rather spend the time in the garden.😁

@@Tropifornia I can understand that, on my son's channel the shorter videos do better, but is also focussed on another audience hah. 2 of the stolons you send are sprouting, also some canna seeds did germinate. Do the leaves from the russian red get more reddish after some time in sunlight? Till now they're still green so hoping it will get more reddish when they can go into the garden. How are your seeds doing? Looking forward to your next video!

The Russian Red should turn color as it matures, The seeds from you took a while to germinate, but they are growing. Usually the canna seeds I soak in water show the root after a week, but some took over 1 to 2 months until I saw a root. I never gave up on them, so they are almost all growing.

@@Tropifornia I don't know what the problem is, mine took forever also to germinate, last year it was easy to get them germinated but this year the seeds are tough:) hope they'll gove you some gorgeous plants, from your seeds the russian red, alaska and flaccida did germinate and are growing, the musaefolia's are still in water, orange punch I saved for later:)

I don’t know why it’s taking so long either. The Wyoming seeds germinated all at different times, 1 month, then another around 2 months then another at 3 months. Usually seeds all of one variety would germinate within days of each other.
