-best to start with "this is not a tutorial" lol
-after making a few Santa ornaments and having the day off i decided to just film the carving of one and if so inclined it's pretty simple to follow along and carve yourself
-i started with a Basswood square 1 1/2" and cut it in half sideways and then to a 3" length.I carved the whole thing with a 1 3/4" Helvie roughout knife and then finished with craft store acrylics

we rarely get snow but it was 29 in the ol garage yesterday. I carved some xmas sweaters and started some owls for coworker gifts. Rice University mascot is an owl . oh and have a moose planned for my wife. she has a thing for moose and squirrel. cheers Dougie.

Doug, You have talent beyond just the knife work. No pencil lines or visual references. I'll have trouble doing this following your video with pencil marks everywhere and it won't be only 20 minutes. Tnx's

Blown away by how quick you did that. That was probably 1 1/2 hrs of carving for me. Love watching people just carve. I can just turn on my Christmas music and sit back and watch. Very calming, thanks for all the great videos!
