Quick Colorado Day Trip to Pick Up the Thrush

We had to take the Thrush back down to CO in September to get some work fixed and we decided to test Cally's XC skills when we went to pick it up. We left ND in the morning and made it back before dark. Thanks for watching!

KEEP AN EYE ON THE WINGS OF THAT THRUSH . FAMILY FRIEND WAS FLYING ONE IN ARKANSAS AND WHILE COMING UP OUT OF THE FIELD AND IN A TURN FOR THE NEXT PASS THE WING CAME OFF. YOU KNOW THE REST OF THIS STORY. MY DAD AS A CROP DUSTER GOT HIM IN TO THE DUSTING. I LOVE IT AND BEEN AROUND IT MOST MY LIFE . WE FLEW IN ARKANSAS AND MISSISSIPPI DELTA FOR YEARS . SOME AS WELL IN OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS AS WELL AS TEXAS . BE SAFE YOU ALL. GLAD I FOUND THIS I WATCH ALL THE TIME .

You should add aftermarket shoulder harnesses to that PA-28. The reason I bring it up is there was an accident with fatalities near my home last summer and both front seat occupants were killed from brunt force impact to their heads. It was an old aircraft that was not fitted with shoulder harnesses. They are available as aftermarket STC. Had the shoulder harnesses been installed and used, they would have survived.

Thanks for posting, enjoy following along! Cally you did great, that is a long x/c for your amount of hours! And.....5 hours in the air in a Cherokee, didn't realize it carried that much fuel? Anyway, keep it up!

Thanks for watching!! It ended up being about 4.5 on the way down and 4.25 on the way back if I remember correctly. Landed with plenty of reserve fuel!

Haha! Yes, there is a bit of traffic up there! It was blowing pretty hard when we were there so we didn't see too many folks. We actually were seeing Lowell, he's the mechanic at the Crookston Airport.

It's the type of fabric that's on the roof exterior. That's not condensation

@@AgAviationAdventures lots of bumpy bubbles on the roof exterior, from the video could not not discern, if its water, (0.20) no big deal just dumb curiosity. flu a bunch in 80S ayres 2r radial engine, and slanted wing tips, no pt6 for me. congrats you guys rock

May I ask what a typical annual inspection cost for your thrush? Also where do you take it for annual inspection/repairs and how do you find them?

It really is so variable because it depends what is due on the aircraft/engine. Could vary from $20,000-$200,000. We know several mechanics relatively close to us just because we were in MN for the last 12 years. Tyson is also an A&P and the guy we bought the biz from is an IA and helps when we need it.

I meant to ask this a few days ago,when I first watched ur vid,,,very entertaining by the way!!,, and read ur comments so if this question is redundant I apologize... But,, how come u couldn't pull the throttle back on the thrush and tag along with ur wife's Cherokee?? Fuel burn lollygaging like that be more? Or u just don't wanna!!?? Lol

Haha! Why go slow when you can go fast ;) It's really not comfortable to sit in for long periods of time so we'll go with that as the main reason. You can't just sit back and relax, you have to be on the heavy controls constantly.

White planes are very hard to spot especially little passenger ones. Now if it was yellow then you could definitely see it.

Why a Thrush from the Air tractor

Leland Snow made thrush then sold the company and quickly formed air tractor. Both planes came from the Olney Texas plant which is like 5 hrs from me. 100 thrush planes where built in Texas before the buy out.
