I've gone back and forth on the supercharger for mine. Part of me really wants it. The other part thinks I bought it because its reliable as the rotation of the earth and that messing with that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The 4runner is a truck I can jump into right now and feel confident that I could drive to almost anywhere in the world, and that it would bring me back. I can imagine being in south america somewhere and doing the pan-american highway, only for the supercharger to develop a fault. That whine is intoxicating though

Awesome video! It doesn’t really matter too much for this low pressure application, but the push-on style hose and fittings are made to be used together without a clamp. When you clamp it, it actually cuts the working pressure in half as per manufacturers hydrostatic testing! Definitely use a clamp on the knurled tube ends though :) love these build series, keep it up!

Great install video gents! Only thing I can advise is to get some constant torque clamps for the new coolant reservoir. Seems to be the main component that gives people issues aside from properly adjusting the vacuum actuator. Would also be a good idea to get it tuned at your local tuner for a more refined setup. Also, if you plan on keeping the rig I highly recommend getting the aluminum oil filter housing. Just make sure to swap the center column from the original! Keep the 4Runner videos coming!

Getting the power you want usually necessitates an engine swap or messing around with a whole slew of power adders and supporting mods, expensive dyno tuning, troubleshooting etc... What a PAIN. That supercharger kit is testament to top notch engineering from Magnuson and the overengineered, unstressed nature of the 4.0 v6. It's a shame this wasn't (commonly) an option from the factory!

As a precaution I recommend fluid filming or putting a lube protectant on the PRNDL switch on the passenger side of the trans. The salt corrodes them and then they shift hard into gear and throw check engine lights.

@EUC-lid
@EUC-lid 3 жыл бұрын
You really shouldn't put any on. Most modern spark plugs have an antisieze coating on the threads. Adding any lubricant makes stripping the threads much too easy during install. NGK claims that most damaged spark plugs are a result of using antisieze and the subsequent over-tightening. That said, I'd trust any seasoned mechanic to know what works for them and their own built-in torque sensor. Amateurs should probably save the copper antisieze for exhaust bolts and studs as recommended by the service manual.
