Quick n' Dirty: New smart fader feature in VDJ2023

This video shows the new smart fader feature that was added to VDJ2023 public build 7445
It also shows the new Echo Out MixFX, and gets into a few caveat you need to know about when using both features

Thank you for your awesome videos Klaus! I appreciate them a lot! I also noticed that the low frequency will not lower when using the smart fade unless you are in the traditional frequency EQ setting. I stay in EZ Remix mode and the smart fade option did not lower the beat (low).

Hmm.... It looks like the latest VDJ update has broke the speed ramp up between the two tracks. If not that It may have been my Numark controller that's not really compatible. Still its great if you keep within a few BPM. Cheers for the great video ;0)

Great Video Klaus. As an addition though, is there a button mapping option to auto start the opposite deck as well by moving the crossfader like fader start, but with the crossfader?

Yes an auto start feature already exists in the settings. I haven't tried combining the two

This is very clever. I use big BPM jumps from 124 to 80 ish house to hip hop. I normally have to go into the mater Tab or scratch and tick the tiny boxes at the top then do my transitions between the two, but this way I can see it’s gonna be much easier. So is this all built in? Sorry bit confused. Great video once again.

Yes it's now built in - mostly to support the new Pioneer FLX4, which has a button for it I just tested with 126 and 87 bpm. And if you move the crossfader slowly - and maybe start some auto-loops on the decks, to create more time - it may be one of the better ways to gradually go that far in bpm change. A bit like using an in-between drum track that does the gradual change But if the bpm difference is even bigger. like 120 and 62 bpm, it will syng using half/double speed - like it does with regular sync. However that goes horribly wrong when you then use the crossfader - which may be a bug :)

No, not unless you remap it, and put it in. Currently only the DDJ-FLX4 will have it out of the box

On the FLX4 an echo / echo out is already added to the smart fader mapping (like shown in the video) I think that'll probably be as far as it goes when it comes to the FLX4, since it has already been announced as supported But for your own mapping you can add any (color) fx you like. The easiest will probably be to use the Mix FXs for it. Then it will basically be automatic I think I'll do a separate video on that :)

This is awesome!! Klaus I have one question. What if you have, say 125 bpm and try to go to 90 bpm or vice versa? Im still new so I am assuming you wouldnt want to have that much of a different BPM in your setlist to begin with but just curious if it could be done or could you display a scenario like that?

@@klausmogensen8691 another question...does this still do the automatic key match with the smart fader if you have it set to on? Or do you manually have to adjust the key?

@@arwillis9623 auto key match is done on track load (if the diff / change needed is 1 semi tone), so that happens before smart-fader is enabled. So yes they work fine together
