Quick Studio Tour - Starting a New Sketchbook painting Loose Gouache Flowers

Hey all! I’m starting a new sketchbook. It can be a bit intimidating - so I choose to make it fun and easy! No worries about perfection or if it will live up to any expectations I may have. I’m slapping on color and enjoying the process.
I’m also sharing a peek into my backyard cottage studio! It a work in progress and I am still figuring out where things are going and how it will work best for me. I even have my studio chickens make a surprise appearance!

The Studio building was purchased in 2012 it is a 10x12’ shed. I built a 4x10’ loft over the daybed /closet area for more storage. Almist everything in tge Cottage studio was repurposed or recycled items- i did buy a little sink and the USB rechargeable water pump new. If you want a more in-depth tour be sure to leave a comment!

Jealous of London….oh my giddy aunt what a gorgeous space for creativity, and I adore the chickens. Re your beautiful flowers, layers have always scared me in real life media, digital ones are my friend when I remember to use them, or switch to the right one! I think attempting a painting like this would give me extreme anxiety and heart palpitations! I am though sad that this beautiful piece is hidden in your watercolour sketch book as it would be gorgeous on a wall, and given Mother’s Day is coming up for some of you (it’s been and long gone here) I can’t help but think what a beautiful card design this would be. I know I keep saying this but you keep blowing my socks off and I have to tie on my bloomers real good if I watch your videos just in case they head off with my socks, your art is so refreshing and beautiful and a true reflection of you, I will never tire of seeing your content and enjoying every moment with relish and envy. Look after yourselves and thank you for sharing and brightening my week. Ps. Are those chickens expensive to keep? They look like they are high end expensive food eaters and demand only the finest in life?

lol! You and your bloomers! I love Hearing from you, I always have a smile on my face when you stop by! The chickens are surprisingly well behaved and self sufficient. Maybe they know they have it good and don’t want to risk being becoming playthings to a couple of rowdy little boys. I hear you about remembering to use the layers on the digital painting- I’m full of good intentions when I start a digital painting but if I don’t label the layers as I make them I’ll spend more time trying to figure out what layer a stray mark is on.😆 Cheers my friend!!

Hey Ian!! Well the cottage was in the yard but it was being used as a storage shed. It’s much better now and can even be used as a guest room!

Wish your lighting was better as there was a glare and it was hard to see the colors. With that said, I totally enjoyed this and I’m going to try it.
