Cutting glass can be very easy or very difficult if you use the wrong techniques. In this video, I show you how to use the glass cutter and how to hold and glass to break. Proper scoring the glass is also critical. Too often this is done completely wrong.

You are so welcome! Mirror is harder to cut than regular glass. Please be careful.

If you're still working on this project, you may want to cut regular glass and then paint one side of the glass with mirror paint. Might be much easier than cutting into a mirror.

I need to replace a glass top to a side table. Are there thicknesses of glass I should be aware of or if it's just holding a drinking glass any sort will do? Does this technique apply to mirrors also?

Yes, there are different thicknesses of glass. For a table top you need to get thicker glass and it should be tempered. The edges should be polished so that there is no chance of getting cut. Cutting mirror is more difficult because of the coating on the back.
