Chives are very versatile and can be used on almost anything such as mashed potatoes, baked potatoes and potato salad lol

OMG i adore the smell of Thyme. It is easily my favourite smelling herb. As for taste it has its place but i think that as a flavour it is much better as a subtle tone.

Fresh dill and parsley cut fine and then sprinkled, with a good pinch of salt, over well buttered new potatoes is excellent.marjoram (pasta sauce) and oregano (pizza sauce) grow well in the garden, as does sage (red meats) and fennel (fish, white meats, onions).

Great video presentation and you two ladies seem very lovely, but I feel the title doesn't accurately represent the video content. You provided recommendations and personal favorites, which is great, but I was hoping for spice pairings (i.e. multiple spices in the same dish) and general rules of which spices should be used with certain meat types. If you have a video like this in your video playlist, I'd love to check it out.

guider, please i want to know the difference between chives and spring onion.
@anothername27302 жыл бұрын
Chives are milder, so you may need to use more to get the same amount of boldness as you would expect from spring onions. They are more delicate, so are better when minimally cooked. Either could be used for garnish. I would say you should compare them both in a dish so you can taste the flavors they bring. I would say they might possibly be able to replace each other if you only have one, but that depends on the dish. Also, FYI, spring onions are the same thing as green onions and scallions, they’re just harvested at different times.

Chives in soup ! Or chives pancake (idk what you guys call we just call it lempeng in Malay) or just chives as the main veges pair with onion.

why are there so few scientific names for these? There are like hundreds of basils, mints, chilies, corianders....
@SingingSealRiana3 жыл бұрын
@Meijin Kino Everytime I look something up especialy in different languages. Artemisia vulgaris, artemisia pinceps and artemisia annua all taste different and have quite different healing properties. Herbs, fishes, trees, they tend to have a lot of different names in one language that often are shared between compleatly different and often unrelated things . . . It realy helps for clarety. In this care not that importend, they did not even name mint and one look tells you, that the basil was not tsuli or something exotic like that, nur in general giving the taxonomic name in addition is realy helpful.

William Gabbert .......William, do you live on a ward? Who throws handfulls of herbs into food? Handfulls? Well sir. If you’re the kind of man who cooks a lady a nice pasta dish before hurling a handfull of basil into a single portion for 2 people, you may need 24 hour care.

For those that can be used in salads, simply throw into salads that's what they said. It's up to you whether you chop thinly or break into the salads, be creative. Use rosemary for meats, put it in early on your roasts with the rest of your spices or flavorings like garlic/pepper whatever you use. Use bay leaves in stews, let it simmer in the pot with the food and remove the leaf when you're done
