Wouldn’t that just take the silver plate off? How about baking soda ?

It doesn't "look silver;" it just looks shiny. If you polish copper or brass to a mirror finish, it's hard to see the metal's color because it's so reflective. But you've removed any remnant of silver plate with that file. This is a destructive cosmetic technique and damages the piece. Replating is the only way to restore it.

@@JustJani, I only create videos about topics I'm knowledgeable about. I don't know how to replate silver. I was searching for that knowledge when I came across this video.
