In this video, I give a few tips for getting started surfing back side. Most people learn to wakesurf frontside, with their toes facing the wake, but if you have a boat that can easily switch sides of the wave surfing backside can be a blast to switch things up.
It's a bit trickier since your back is facing the wave, but it opens up a lot of room to learn and improve if you take the time to give it a try!
These tips are just a few of the things that I see commonly helping people get started with backside surfing and learning to control the board in the wave. The main ones for me are standing up tall and opening my chest up to the boat in order to drive the board down the line of the wave.
This video may not be the answer to every question when it comes to wake surfing on your heelside, but hope it serves as a good starting point if it's something you're hoping to try out!
