Nope. He totally missed the point of the question. He asked why he choose to go to Yale University and his answer should be that he is going there for studies. Telling the visa officer that Yale is one the best schools and you're cousin lives there is very unecessary and off point and shows you're not likely to return after your studies in the usa. And also you have to make sure every answer you're giving is related to you returning to your home country after studies.

I learned recently that it's actually important to make sure the interviewer knows you are not by all means interested in staying there. Like, give them the impression that you want to go to get your education so as to immediately come back, and get back to building your own life, helping your family, getting a job in your home country etc.

@karthikprabhub6048
@karthikprabhub6048 2 ай бұрын
@@user-ge4vy2zp7vwhen a person interviews for a non immigrant visa status, by US law the visa officer must assume the person to be intending to immigrate unless the person can prove so otherwise. Hence, in that brief interview the person must present a case to the VISA officer as to why they will not immigrate. Visa officers don’t care where you are going what you are doing or your well-being in the US. They ask these questions as indirect questions to judge whether or not you will immigrate there or not. Telling a visa officer that you have relatives in the US can indicate that you have support in the US to immigrate there if you ever want to. It’s also very easy to change status inside the US especially if you have a brother or sister who is US citizen as they can petition for status change. But that does not mean that you lie. If you are asked if you have relatives in the US do not lie to them. Just do not be forthcoming with this information unless you are very specifically asked.

I'm guessing 214 b. From what I've learned, everyone is assumed to be an intended immigrant. You have a matter of seconds to demonstrate that you intend to return to your home country after your "temporary" stay because of your strong local community ties. I have heard that family ties in the US is not an automatic disqualifier but talking about saving on travel expenses could have implied that you're not financially stable whether or not it's true. I have no affiliation, but Argo Visa @ArgoSocial would be a good place to start your student visa journey. They are not cheap but wasting your money on failed attempts and getting a permanent visa denial mark on your record is more detrimental IMHO.
