Ouch! Have fun! I need to repair or replace my garbage can find Yamaha Natural Sound receiver. Someone dumped food into it. It kind of sort of works. We are still debating what the food was. Maybe spaghetti sauce & meatballs, maybe beef stew, maybe chili, or maybe meatloaf. Refried beans? Guitar amps usually get beverages dumped into them. This poor thing got the main course. I suspect kids or perhaps adults and alcohol. I'll recap it and see what happens. This is the 3rd integrated stereo receiver with dried food in it.

What are those relay's all about? Have an old Yamaha which clicks back and forth. edit: So it just disconnects the output on faults? I should really open the thing up, probably something obvious.

This one detects 3 things in 5 places. The quiescent dissipation of the output devices on each channel. The DC offset on each channel. And the presence of AC from the power transformer. It then has an approximately 4sec delay when all signals are good before closing the speaker interrupt relay.

@@BradsGuitarGarage Looks pretty similar. A couple of big caps, lots of links which look to double as resistors, inputs from transformer, speaker output and an impedance selector switch. I guess should monitor the same things and see what's triggering it (or if it's faulty itself). The inside looks to have a few hours cleaning needed too. Might put it back in the cupboard for another decade ;)
