QuickyBaby - about PM for f2p-Players: Im such a f2p-player and im telling you after about 22k battles, rebalancing the pm-rounds will be a big benefit for us! About 7:30, you suggest, its the f2p-player, who would suffer under this rebalance, because we couldnt pen anymore some OP-tanks (or do less dmg, when using pm)...as we dont have access to lots of free-exp to overleap the stock-phase. But in fact - for us f2p-players this isnt the real problem. No (!) f2p player uses lots of pm anyway, because we need this cr for our next tank. See...if you play your f2p-account for some hours (or days), you can switch to your normal account with all the tanks, crews, modules and things you need, if your lowtier-tanks get boring. But WE cant switch. If we want a new T10 tank, we have to save credits, if we want some modules, we have to save... im NOT wasting 15k credits for a single battle just to kill an OP-tank. I prefer to die then - doing less dmg. Thats the game: Stockguns are sh*t. And while we dont use PM, our enemies will! This OP-tank i cant pen? He is spamming gold like a hippie flowers at a rockgig. And no matter how weak my armour is...there will be situations he is still benefiting from PM, may it be because of higher speed or because they dont loose pen over high distance. This makes this op-tank even more invincible for me/us!

I have never spent any money on this game and I've just been grinding out everything.. lemme tell you, the recent holiday ops helped out a lot, it already helped me get 3 tier VIs and 1 tier VII and it wasn't even a while back that I started playing.

T25 pilot, that was the only tier8 I managed to grind, ages ago, since then, those challenges requires so many hours, that it's, for us working joes, more or less impossible to achieve...

2:30 What you just describe is why I quit playing WoT regularly. When you are playing premium tanks not because you want to play them, but as a "Job" so you can play the tanks you actually want too... then screw that.

I spent the last month leveling up all the under tier 6 tanks I'd missed over the years. I didn't want to use all my free experience or cost myself a ton of money, so I decided from the beginning to stick with 50% crews and get rid of them after I moved to the next. So in essence, I had no advantages over any other player and probably was set up like most new players. As you might imagine, it was a dreadful experience. Griefers with Pz1C's and experience crews could be found in every game but it only got truly bad when I got to the tier 3 games and started facing derps on a consistent basis. Most of my games these days are Level 7+ so I'd forgotten how much of a pain derps are at low levels. They are ridiculous even when facing them at an equal level as one mistake means you are out of the game. It's not fun and they are a bigger cancer to fun for new players as arty is in later tiers. It might make some sense if HE were considered better as a tank weapon vs AP in real-life WW2 battles but there was a reason the Sherman moved from the 75 to the 76mm gun. I don't understand why anyone supports derps at tier 4 and 5 other than nostalgia reasons. I don't have an issue with derps from tier 6 and above are ok because by then tanks have more armor/hitpoints and players have more experience. I recently played World of Warships and was amazed at the new player experience you find there. Tier 1 is cruisers only and players fight bots. Tier 2 introduces destroyers and you learn the strengths and weaknesses of each ship vs the other. Tier 3 has battleships. Tier 4 has aircraft carriers. All of these games are played against bots in a relatively stress-free but fun experience as you learn the game. Things start to get serious at tier 5. Why not copy that same metric in WoT? The low tiers need to focus on new player experience. That means taking Heat out of low tiers. New players can't afford it. Take derps out of low tiers. It's not fun for low tiers to be one shot. Change the damage/armor metrics of tech tree tanks so they perform as well or better than premium tanks and purchasable tanks from tier 1 to tier 4 (the other tanks should be for collecting and not OP). Add bots to both teams in significant numbers. Player vs bot in tier 1. Player vs player with decreasing numbers of bots on tiers 2-4. Yeah, bots are stupid but killing them is fun for new players. It will give players a fun place to return when they hit the scary world of tier 5 battles and are learning the real game. It's amazing to me Wargaming hasn't done this years ago because the only way for them to improve profits is to attract new players and sometimes it feels like their early game is set up to drive them away.

A nice tech tree tank to play on a Free-to-play account is the American heavy tank called the T29. Get the upgraded turret, then find a nice spot to go hull down, and plink away against the enemy. 😁

Yes, finally, weak points are what this game needs again. Under the prem round changes tanks without frontal weak points, such as the type 5, the 279e etc, will become even further over powered. Weak points used to be a key gameplay factor, good players knew where to aim, but that required skill and knowledge so wargaming stopped doing it, instead they started adding easy to play tanks without weakpoints

You are so right Quicky. Which is why MY favorite free to play tank is the VK 3001. Like you said it is all about the non premium AP values and the VK 3001 has a gun TWO tiers higher (the squeeze bore) on a fantastic gun platform. The Tiger I (H) is great as well and so is thew JagdPanther! These tanks are my ringed gun ace tanks. Consistently make me equal + vs premium players! JS I and the derp Sherman and Hetzer work great as well!

I am still waiting on the overmatch mechanic changes proposed when the Swedish tanks were coming out.

I've been playing about six months and I've received six premium tanks so far. But, my favorites are still the regular grind, middle tier mediums. The premium tanks are stuck with the gun they come with and there's no upgrade. I have several tanks that I can put a derp gun on and I LOVE playing my derp guns! Fast mediums with derp guns keep me in the top ranking and I regularly score first or second in XP and damage!

I bought two bundles of premium tanks from the Black Friday sale. Tanks are T34/Super Pershing and IS-2M/IS-2. I love them! Probably paid about 80 to 90 dollars total for all four of them which isn’t too bad I think.

I was so glad they rolled back the HE changes.

I was with you QB, on the NA server February was so stacked with missions that by the 23rd when I finished them all, I couldn't even think of looking at the game. I was so burned out and mad at the game.

Great F2P mid-tier TD: the chinese tier4 Su-76G-FT, its got decent mobility, camo, and view range with binos, and an amazing gun. HE can murder with 43 (i think) pen in the low tiers, and even bottom tier you'll be causing decent damage.

Weak points is what made the game fun. I can remember back in the day (13-15) when I'd face off against higher tier HT's. Sure, I'd lose out on those one on one engagements, but the satisfaction of getting my 150 alpha shots into that IS-3's lower plate from my Comet was great.

Marder, Marder 38, the infamous "toaster", Nashorn (what an beauty), the only contoversial one the Sturrer Emil with its awkward topspeed, the scorpion G but squashed Rhm Borsig, my favourite one the WTF Pz. 4 with an fantastic gun and an truly unique gameplay, and the grille. Nothing but great selections here, and all free.

The F3's pretty awesome, unlocked SPG 3-15 using it in less than 60 games for my first female tanker.

QB, something I don’t think you’ve ever done is a video about specific play styles, such as Top 5 most rewarding, most fun (by polls), unique (by similarities), and/or most difficult (by polls) play styles (derping, arty, scouting, brawling, flanking, sniping, etc). Also I think a historical reference/guide to each “real” tank inside the game would be cool. With this one, I am reminded of XboxAhoy’s COD Weapon Guides, which were 10-15min videos detailing the history and in-game characteristics & suggested play style of each weapon. So you could do the tanks history, it’s in game characteristics, and the way you suggest the tank be played (again this goes only for real tanks which were produced in any quantity, whether they served or not)l I think with your experience, this could be a real boon to history buffs and a huge help to new players within your viewership. it took me over 12 hours for 5 days to get half way through to the tier 8 event mission, gave up cause i couldnt play so long one day after another, my average exp is nearly 500, i can say its hard to finish these missions but besides that, there is a game that i won that I'd love for you to see, im not the best player out there but still, where can i post it? a T71 DA, 11 kills on ensk

as far as "best" - it always comes down to play styles. the tank i love the most is the tier 10 progetto 65. a close second is the tier 6 vk30.01P

I combined marathon with tank rewards premium time and its helping with progress a lot.

but QB, having premium rounds do like 5% less alpha damage would make armor matter in the game cuz sometimes you give everything to have armour, but you still get people just firing gold, irrelevant of wtv they are shooting but if people have to think about damage dealing it'd put some thought process to their 2 neurons ofc gold rounds would have to have a rework to their cost and stuff like that, but I feel like it'd be a good change

So, I understand your point on the diminishing returns on the Premium tanks, but at the same time, I have been in some terrible matchups during this grind as well, nothing you can do but play to your best ability, then move on when your team flops lol

I've been doing pretty well in my LT's this week. I picked up the B C 12t on Sunday and already have a first mark of excellence on it, about 60 games in, and I'm close to unlocking one of the three T9 tanks. I've also completed a few of the missions in the two campaigns related to it. I think I like the tank... it suits me well I guess. What I notice is that there's a lot of gold spamming going on the last few days. I guess the tournament is over or something? Is was especially bad last night and for the first time in a while, I felt that I never got better than a T10 match in any of my T8 tanks.

maybe instead of keeping the "premium ammo" system, they should switch to a variable ammo system where you have a pure damage shell with low penetration like HE, a pure penetration round with low damage like HEAT or APCR, and then a shell with penetration and damage in between the two like AP

The Sherman III or M4 packing the 105mm gun is a good F2P tank.

1 year later they listened to community so improved HE by buffing hull down beasts and encourage HEAT spam, that's what WG thinks about improvement

I've paid for several Premiums and have 58 in my garage although I picked up several from TankRewards and Christmas gifts.

I unlocked the Bourrasque in 7 days on my mostly F2P account (I only bought a premium T8 and some low-mid tier garbage premiums that looked cool years agos), but yeah I played like 8 hours a day, good that I had the time. But I also mostly used my two only tier 8 premium tanks to do that so I could grind credits, crew and free xp with boosters. I used my old and trusty IS-6 (I told you I bought my only premium T8 a long time ago !) and my AMX liberté recently bought with bonds from ranked (I finished silver on the second iteration, never touched ranked again lol). So yeah the bourrasque challenge, my first marathon, it's fine that I had the time to no-life through it, but without these pesky premium tanks that I had, I wouldn't have done it. Either you get really good and you gain free premium tanks through mission marathon or ranked, and so, you can get more free premium tanks thanks to that ; either you are forced to pull out your credit card to have fun... But the fun as a F2P to overcome a challenge designed to make you use your credit card will always be greater, there is a sense of pride to get so good that wargaming can't force you to pay anymore. I paid as a young wot player, I bought an IS-6, a pz IVs and a RAM II in 2015, I also bought some boxes to unlock one of the tank cosmetic style that was catching my eye, but I don't want to ever again give a penny to WG and I'm glad I'm good enough at the game now to keep that promise ! I hope my experience was at least mildly interesting to read, sorry if anything was phrased weirdly, I'm french thus think my words in a different way than english speakers, but since QB's audience is composed of a lot of europeans with a vast panel of different languages, you are not perfect at english either and didn't catched my mistakes anyway haha !

I REALLY want to see a comparison including of free to play (NO gold ammo at all no premium consumables at all) vs fully premium loadout even improved equipment i.e a fully pimped vehicle that money can buy crew skills should be roughly equal though. There's so much debate on the forums thats its all about skill and pay2win is not a reality but I'd really like to see an objective comparison say at least 2 x 200 battles same vehicle to compare winrate, average damage, average xp, win8, hit/pen ratios, credits etc. And I think you're the man to do this! its a very important comparison. And people value your objective credibility.

I might buy premium time to get my crews up, I still fire standard ammunition...even at Tier 9. It's frustrating not being able to pen a Mäuschen in my VK 45.02B (same top gun), and still don't get a pen on the cupola or lower plate. Gold hardly compensates either lol but it can be ridiculously frustrating to be F2P, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I definitely agree on the IS, it’s definitely one of the best f2p tanks in the game. I’m no pro, a casual f2p player (my winrate% is only around 51%) but I two-marked the IS on my way to the IS-M and got the third mark half a year later on my way to the IS-3.

That is 2 gameplay was insane

just adressing something you might have missed, becouse wheeled vehicles are also amazing for free to play players. (i am one myself)i love to play my tier 7 ebr hotch. amd in the over 70 games that i have played in that vehicle i maybe fired gold rounds in just one game, and when you meet a high tier heavy you can just circle it and your pen does not really matter.

Among the tier 10 mediums, Leopard 1 and k91 will have the highest standard pen and are probably good F2P. I have a k91 and you can definitely do pretty well without dabbing the "2" key.

I get my french premium tank from marathon yesterday on a f2p account. I would probably advise that play f2p like me to play CROMWELL the best f2p tank i think. By the way t25 pilot was given by marathon before any vehicle qb mentioned i think.

My favourite free to play tank is probably the caenarvon because it’s DPM is insane and you can just track people that don’t know how to play the game.

I think they should really look into their premium shell balance too, with lower dpm, mainly how it’ll effect a t8 tank facing a t9 or t10 heavy or super heavy ... they will pen you with standard shells at full dps, while you’re forced to lose 25% dpm just to have a chance to pen them .... I don’t think that’s fair especially considering that until one plays t10 that scenario is pretty much 3 out of every 4-5 battles anyone plays

Shame that the marathons got so difficult. I got the T25 Pilot 1 a long time ago, and that marathon was fairly easy. Just by doing semi-easy daily missions, you could get a tier 8 premium for free.

Next marathon, see how far you can get if you have a "real" job, not playing 9-5 pm, and still getting some sleep etc. Would be an interesting experiment to see what the realistic upper limit is for f2p.

Having gone down the Italian line to get that (in my opinion) overpowered Progetto 65, I've found the tier 8 and 9 to be amazing. The Panthera is incredibly good with good pen and mobility, while the Standard B is so much better when you get the top gun, which is only 200 kg heavier. It's an easy line, although 1-7 is boring.

Why not lazy-mode the HE changes- run the calcs both ways for each shot and use the better result? That keeps bigger HE the same but allows smaller calibre HE to have some use.

+1 for bigger maps, nowadays almos every tank can get its view range up to 445mt and more, medium tanks even outspot light tanks... Either having less wiew range or increasing the map size would be a good change imo... Ensk for instance is way to small

Ive been trying to get my T9 tanks (Jap and UK Meds) for far too long. Its a love/hate relationship with WoT these days, i get a couple of good matchups where im top tier and then the rest im always fighting T9/T10's. Freely admit im no pro-gamer, i'd like to think im decent enough for F2P but playing T8 just doesnt bring in the cash. I have a handful of T8 Prem tanks though because i like WoT enough to support it here and there and because who doesnt want a Sabaton or Offspring Tank etc? and they serve me well enough to bring in a few coins, even with a loss, but i find that regular T8 tanks, even on a win still doesnt net me enough to break even for the (regular) ammo i use up. I aim for weakspots on tanks as much as poss but still have trouble penning and even with gold rounds i can bounce which only worsens my end of game income, thus i end up sticking to regular ammo to avoid the loss of income /shrug And when it takes as long as it does to grind up, i lose interest in the game because all ive done is make a few measly xp points out of the many thousands required to upgrade/research a tank

Free to play player here. It will take me about 60 hours to do the Marathon. Though I'm actually having fun this time during a good portion of the Marathon oddly.

I really appreciate you creating a Free to Play account to illustrate what is possible without spending money in-game. What would be more relevant to me is an account that is affordable, but best bang for your buck when you can only afford 20-30 minutes of playtime a day. What tanks are optimal to grind for when it will probably take months or even years? I feel like it is more realistic for the average person with a 50-60hr work week and kids. I would totally buy premium, but I it just doesn't make sense to me when I only play a handful of matches.

Just Started Stage 5, have a Full Work Schedule and an 1 1/2 Hour Commute Both Ways.... Been Grinding my BC 12T mainly, Unlocked the 13/90 and now Working ro the AMX 30 Proto..... I have a Premium Account and Thanks to Xmas and the Boxes, I'm Good for 278 more Days, but I have been Grinding my x3's in my Tech Tree Tanks and afterward Credits in my Premiums, I also Stockpile Convertable XP for those Emergencies.... For the Dynasty Wars and Chinese New Year, I Mainlined my Deathstar on a 50/50 Load of AP/ Premium HESH.... I prefer the AP and the 310 Pen/1150 Avg Damage to the Slotmachine 230 Pen/ and Maybe Damage..... That 310/1150 could reduce most Any Tank to a One Shot for oretty much Anyone else on the Team, and at 2200 per Shell, it's a Good Tank for still Making Credits vs 8K for a Gopher Killing Shell..... While you're doing some of these other Video's on Tech Tree Tanks and such, maybe it's also Time to Update some of your Older Vid's of Reviews and Game Play Value..... Like you said, and I've been here since Patch 9.4, this isn't the same WoT we started on.... It's ALL Changed, and that includes the Value some Tanks have anymore in the Game.....
