EBR got our hands on the QuietKat Apex to review while at the Big Gear Show 2021.
An impressive bike that has equally impressive accessory options which can help turn this into a hunter/fisher/outdoor explorer's dream. QuietKat has spec'd this bike to be able to handle almost any trail while sailing over dirt, snow, and ice on 4.5" Kenda tires.
The Apex comes in either 750, 1,000, or 1,500W motor options and is stopped by 4-piston hydraulic brakes from Tektro.
Sam spoke with QuietKat to get a better understanding of this bike, while also getting hands-on with the Apex to test out the handling, motor, and brakes!

Bought the 2021 Apex 1000W, had nearly one yr now. Overall - it's a mixed bag. PROS: It did everything I could ask for during 8 days of mulie hunting using dusty, rough roads and even narrow cattle or cattle-ish trails thru sagebrush. I'm 205 lbs + 25 lbs pack w/rifle, so figure 230 lbs easy. Could go as fast as I felt safe loaded up (no helmet, so for me around 15 mph in 40-50 deg weather), and steep terrain was no problem. Range was about 15 miles/day out of it. All I needed. Game changer for when there's no action in the early morning & I wanted to quickly relocate maybe a mile or so to a new spot - day was still early and I'm still able to get into a second or even 3rd set-up to glass. Outflank elk moving away. Extends my range and opportunity. I'm older, and so not having to use my old mtn bike left more energy left for those crawling stalks, etc. CONS: day 8 chain issues started, had to retire the bike. Was wrapping up the hunt anyway, but...Now in the shop. Which leads to next point - good luck getting this thing serviced. You will need to find an independent bike shop that knows e-bikes. The chain shops generally will only touch bikes in lines they carry. And the 1-yr warranty is limited in coverage. Other issues I have are with fitment and details: rubber cover for charging port tore out after a week (elect tape cover now to keep dust out), the integral rear storage rack was welded nearly 1" out of level, saddle that I upgraded to is already wearing out, and battery cover hasp (plastic) cracked so I cannot remove the battery if I wanted to. Quiet Kat (Colorado) seems very corporate, hard to get a hold of the person with a good answer, seems like they are having growing pains (?). Also, they say do not charge this battery below freezing (this may apply to most lithium batteries, I don't know...but this could be a challenge for me in late fall). Overall, this bike is a monster in the field - when it works. But based on what I know so far, I'm pretty sure I will be nursing various issues for the duration of ownership.

I was on that road back in about 1987 On a Schwinn project com 10 I hit 60 miles an hour doing that downhill!!! With caliper brakes!!!! 😂🤣 I have the AREA 13 BlackBird with the inverted fork. Definitely not as nice of a bike as the Apex. But it’s half the money. And it’s a 750 W hub motor. With a 52W 17 amp hour battery. The bike is a lot of bang for your buck!!! But man I really want one of those 1500 W Apex’s!!! Nice demo video a little park city!!!

Why would any jurisdiction have a 750 W limit? If Ferarris And Nissan Sentras drive on the same road…. The limitations should be on speeds and behaviors. How much power the bike has should not be the government’s purview.

Unwatchable. 15 minutes of wind noise and still have no clue how fast this bike is w/ throttle only or with PAS.

No not really right now for the money that G-Force depending on what ampage you get for the battery it could be barely over $1,000 but up to 1800 depending on what ampage you want with the battery so no they're not all the same and that's a really nice bike for the money

@@donwilson350 what do you think is the best for the money at the high end? I’m after a Bakcou Mule type eBike that’s only 750w to minimize legal restrictions. So towing, hill climbing, and ruggedness is my concern over speed. Unfortunately I’m not tall enough for a Bikonit Warthog which I think are by far the best looking. I’ve been also looking at Biktrix Juggernaut Classic, Haibike, etc. I just don’t know components good enough to know which high end bikes are the best for the money. Unless you are making the general claim that there’s a significant point of diminished returns after a certain dollar amount. I just want a solid & tough bike like the Mule that can lug gear plus a trailer, even in tough conditions (no jumping or obstacle courses for me lol).

Well well sir there are a lot of e-bikes out there and it depends on how much you're willing to spend but really to be honest with you I think there's only a few Chinese factories that make these so a lot of these bikes come out of the same factories they look a little bit different here and there but you can tell that they're pretty much the same bike with a different name I think as long as you get a 750 W Motor magic Cycles are good they cost a lot of money I think pretty much as long as it's a 750 watt motor and that's what I've got in the two bikes that I have I've got a G-Force 750 watt t42 and I also have the tesgo Hummer Pro and they both seem to have really good power to get up and down Hills I mean it's all depending on what you want to do I guess all I'm saying is when they're all pretty much coming out of the same Factory why is one bike so much higher than the other because they get them over here to the states even electric bike they come out of China they put their name on it they've got a building I guess in California where you can go in there and test ride these bikes but they're still coming out of California and that's why the g-force t42 looks like the electric bike because they're coming out of the same Factory with two different names but I think as long as you did a 750 motor and the wattage makes a big difference now the tesgo ebike that I have came with a 14.5 amp and I have to charge it more than I do the g-force t42 20 amp battery and I can get twice as far with it I was really surprised that is really important when you're looking at an e-bike is the 750 watt motor and how many amps does it give you that's what you're paying for is the amps the higher the amps the less you have to charge it in between good luck and the more suspension you get on that bike the better it will ride do not buy a bike that does not have shocks up front that is very important

Way overpriced bikes when compared to any moder 2023/2024 ebikes... These were cool years ago but the lack of innovation and upgraded models makes this a poor purchase. Probably why you only see these in big box stores and not in actual bike shops

Definitely pricier. Not without reason though. The specs are quite different, but yeah, it's kinda crazy when you put it in those terms.

Over priced...these bikes are geared towards the guy that makes a good living...sad really for those that would like to purchase but is out of reach!! Pretty shitty if you ask me........
