Steel can burn like a candle irl. Just expose it to pure oxygen and sufficient temps.

I can only imagine corporations providing questionable nutrient paste, the only reason to have infestations is if it is part of your food chain. For me, insect and hay makes delicious kibble for my pigs who make delicious kibble for my prisoners who make delicious kibble for my slaves which grow my potatoes which make delicious nutrient past for my colonists. It's the circle of life, you have to respect it, but to be fair my people were vegetarian nature loving tree worshippers and these raiders burnt down our forest, so now they are doing community service to my newly radicalised transhumanists who are considering cutting out the middle man and converting people directly into chemfuel in order to fuel the wheels of industry.
