I never thought of doing quilt as you go that way. I always sewed all three pieces together

I always wondered about the holes along the selvage. Your instruction and definition of terms are very clear. I also appreciate that you brought things close to the camera, like when determining right side vs wrong side of fabric.

Thank you very much. I wondered about that as well and I did some research, thought my viewers would like to know as well.

Why don’t you starch and iron before sewing the back ? It won’t show any wrinkles. You can also use a hemostat to turn inside out and a crochet to push the corners.

I thought this was meant to be an instruction on QAYG. It’s not that at all - or have I missed something?

I like the way you teach nice and slow. Do you embroider. If you do I’d like to watch your sights

Great video. I always spell Selvedge this way.

Thank you, it is good to know how to spell that correctly.

“Selvage “ is the US spelling. “Selvedge” is British. Both spellings are correct. They come from the term “self-edge.” It means a self-finished edge of a piece of fabric which keeps it from unraveling and fraying.

How would you join these blocks? Making the blocks is the easy part joining the blocks is the tricky bit

Can you make a quilt with this method, sewing these blocks together right sides together?

Yes you can. Unfortunately I don’t have a video to show you how to make a quilt. If you type in QAYG you will find many tutorials on this. Good luck to you.

Why aren't you using a flat surface when adding each strip instead of on the small area of the sewing machine?

Thank GOODNESS you use the term "right side" and "wrong side"....the first time I heard someone use the term "Pretty side" I almost gagged...I mean SERIOUSLY???? We have to dumb-down sewing terms that are ages old???? I'd like to try this technique on pre-printed batting for placemats - but due to the designs, not sure if I can stitch in the ditch for the triangles/flying geese or how to quilt the center squares or designs w/o using tell tale threads and backstitching - not exactly designed for flip-n-stitch. Any suggestions???

Why not use a walking foot? Maybe your backing would be smoother.

Thanks for the comment. Since making this video I’ve learned and now use a walking foot. Ingenious tool. Love it.

It kinda defeats the purpose of quilt as you go.use some spray basting like 505 or smooth out just like you would if you were quilting a regular top

This is nothing like I thought ! QAYG TO ME IS A LARGER SIZE, made of several blocks ! This is just a square mat !, wasted my time! Table Mat …….very misleading ! Awful long winded! Thought I’d learn something new ? Really great for someone who has never made a mat ! QUILT to most people means a covering !
@emoscreativestudio-liz-qui3536

Yes, it is long if you are not new to quilting or sewing. No, it’s not misleading. Here is part of a definition of quilt use. This is taken from google…… “There are many traditions regarding the uses of quilts. Quilts may be made or given to mark important life events such as marriage, the birth of a child, a family member leaving home, or graduations. Modern quilts are not always intended for use as bedding, and may be used as wall hangings, table runners, or tablecloths. “. But isn’t a table runner a covering as well? Thank you for your honest opinion.

Wow I’m shocked at your reference to your better quality school and how your school could afford the better quality machines over the Singer Brother and such. As a person that went to all public school not being Catholic and all and I love my junky Singer machine. You should rethink before you say such and think about it affending the people you want to watch your channel. Sorry but some of us are affended
