Dodge Grand Caravan - BACKUP / REAR VIEW CAMERA REPLACEMENT / REMOVAL (2011 - 2019)

Step-by-step guide on how to replace / remove reverse backup rear view camera on Dodge Grand Caravan minivan ( 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | SE | CVP | AMP | SXT | LIMITED | CREW | VALUE PACKAGE | EXPRESS ).
Replacing the backup camera is not too hard, but it does take a bit of time and effort. To remove the old camera you will have to remove the complete plastic assembly holding the camera and the Dodge logo. Before you can do that you have to remove the inner liftgate trim panel. Start by raising the liftgate. Now remove four phillips screws holding the inner trim panel. Pop the panel off and disconnect the liftgate panel light.
Once the panel is off, remove six 10mm screws holding the outside trim panel. Two middle screws are holding the liftgate handle and four side ones are mounted directly into the trim panel. Then remove four 10mm nuts (two on each side) on the side of the liftgate. Pop out four white clips (two on the each side of the inner side of the liftgate). Disconnect the camera and remove the outside mounting panel. Now disconnect the second rear view camera connector and remove two torx T20 screws holding the camera. That's it. Just changed out my backup camera today. I could not have done it so quickly without this video. I would have struggled for hours finding all the hidden bolts. GREAT VIDEO! The only thing I did differently was to pop out the interior light and unplug it first with a trim tool.

Thanks for the video! So I have an 09 Routan and the process was SIMILAR but not exact, turns out I ordered the wrong camera, the part number for the camera on the 09 Routan is 5026338AB and they want $500 for a new one! Hilarious! Well you can hack in an off the shelf backup camera. Look at the plug going to the camera, it should have 4 main wires, color may differ but hopefully you have Green\white = 12v Black= Ground Smaller gauge wire Black = video ground Red = video Signal You can wire in any 12v backup camera this way (May have to get an RCA pigtail or make your own).

Thank You for the video. Unfortunately for me 3 of the 4 bolts (at 4 minutes and 32 seconds), just kept spinning. Wouldn’t come off. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Looks like I’ll have to call the professionals. 😂

What can I do if one of the 10mm from the side spins freely? The mechanism that holds it in place under the plastic has failed.

Hmmm it can be quite a challenge as it might have to be drilled out if there is no other way to remove it. Things like this happen quite often especially on older vehicles and it adds a lot to the labor time

I have a base model grand caravan 2013. I found an original touch screen radio from another Grand caravan at the scrapyard. Now i want to get the camera too. Do you think the wiring for the camera still be in the trunk door ? Since my model is base i probably dont even have a camera connector over there. thank you

Hello, most likely there will be no wiring for the backup camera if it was not originally equipped. Your better bet would be goin with the aftermarket camera or you will have to pull all the wiring
