The Drive you used for your PC is formatted NTFS for that and Macs won't write or save on it. You have to reformat the drive. I had that problem a few years ago. BTW would putting the hub on top of the Manc-mini restrict the Bluetooth and wifi antennas on the top of the computer?

I have had no bluetooth or wifi problems at all with any mini or my m1 air , only a select few complaints have happen and iam going with could be some defects there the iMacs don't get these problems and they are also all alum , I have seen the wifi in my mini interfere with one of my amps that has bluetooth/wifi so I got rid of the amp problem solved no more problem but the computers have had no issues at all. and yes I fixed my drive its under X fat now and no issues at all.

Nice review. Would a 2.4Amp charger be sufficient for a SSD 2.5" and NVMe? If not, any recommendation on Amazon? Thanks
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 Жыл бұрын
iam using a 3amp charger right now and its barely enough 5amp is what iam saving up for and that should fix the problems as iam not getting enought amps to the front ports to stay stable w ith having the 2 different drives in the dock and trying to do other stuff mind you the car readers dont seem to have any problems with the 2 drives at the same time but once i hook in anopther ssd or nvme to the front that drive goes on and off at randaom so 5 amps is what you want really but watch the 2.5 ssd for the amp draw make sure its 1 amp or less anything higher will cause stability problems with 3 amp or less charger hooked in .. computers these days are such a pain in the ass

@@KevinMillard68 Thanks. I spent a bunch of time trying to find a bigger external USB power supply. The Anker 735 went up to 65W total, but is still only 3A at 5V. The USB A: port showed: USB-A : 4.5V 5A/5V 4.5A /5V 3A /9V 2A/ 12V 1.5A(22.5W Max) So it looked like if you had a USB C to USB A, you could get 5A. Is it odd that the USB C can only do 3A, while the USB A can do 4.5A?

@@KevinMillard68 So you are essentially trying to power 3 drives then (internal SSD SATA, internal NVMe, and external SSD)? I found my iphone charger can get me 3A (not sure why 20W chargers only have 3A... W=VXA. Mathematically, should be 4A... Anyways, thanks again for bringing up the necessity for external power to help prevent issues!

@@KevinMillard68 Got my Qwiizlab hub in. I found the USB A port on the Mac Mini is 900mA (standard). It is far less than what just one SSD can need (as you mentioned). My Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe has a max amp of 1.8A average in burst mode and average of 1.2A. With two drives, somebody could go over 3A. The back of the Qwiizlab unit shows 5W/12W/20W for the power port. I am not sure it can take more than 20W. As long as you aren't reading/writing a lot from one SSD to the other internal SSD, I think 3A would be fine. If a larger transfer is needed , somebody could just take one of the SSDs out of the enclosure and put it into another enclosure which could get powered up by another port on the mac mini (obviously a pain). It would make more sense to get another drive and hook up to the mac mini if necessary. I also found the info below on the Qwiizlab site qwiizlab.net/a/p/community/post/2086828374 . Just trying to help anybody else out :) ------------------------- Qwiizlab response to a customer: Technically, the USB hub is supposed to work fine without any external power supply. We only suggest that it might need an external power supply when customer is using two drivers (no matter external or internal) in the same time. As for external power supply, our first recommendation is to connect the USB hub from the USB-C port (the port labelled as "5V Power") on its rear to the USB-A port on Mac mini's rear. If that is not sufficient, we suggest that customer connect it to a USB wall charger. Recommended adapters are : Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter Apple 12W USB-A Power Adapter Apple 5W USB-A Power Adapter

What about putting the Quislab hub on a power hub?
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 Жыл бұрын
the quiizlab is a powered hub and to attache it to another powered hub is not going to work out well without you blowing something or at the very least having alot of problems you have to buy a powersupply for this hub to run it on seperat power tho there is not enough power in the setup they tell you to do to do anything other then cause more problems and take up another port that you could make use of . i would reccomend 4 to 5amp powersupply i have been using a 3amp and i know how to watch out for over loads so im ok , how ever recentally i had a webcam pluged into it whch draws nothing really so totally in the safe zone but the camera blew and took out the hub with it.. so now iam on a different but better setup that works far better then the quiizlab hub at a fraction of the cost, tho iam taking more desk space for the new setup its wokring out far better in the long haul but no more plugging webcams into anyhting iam sticking with the continuity camera setup as iam runing a mac and have an iphone so all good to go

Problem could be the power to the two drives

It Looks Like You Used A USB a To USB C Cable T o The Computer Doesn't Your Computer Have USB C ??? That Maybe The Bottle Neck !! Also I Never Saw You Plug In The Power Adapter ????
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 Жыл бұрын
iam using a C to C Cable as well as the power supply is hooked in to the USB C power on the hub as well so no bottle necks you need to understand amperage of drives and bus lines as wel if you lack amps you slow down and over heat alot to a drive that wants more amps then you have wil run hot and slow and can burn up to devices will always try and draw what they want but the buss also has to support stuff properly as well and the 3amp power supply iam using is still 2 to 3 amps short of what i need to run stuff 100% proper ,,a type c port on its own or thunder port port same connector only has 900 mah tops that it can supply well most nvme m.2 drives will want to draw upto 3 amps to them self but when you have all these drive bays in there and all the ports the power is spread accross all of it so the amps are divided well when you run out of amps you do have much so things will try and draw what they cant have and will run hot and slow as well its reallt ocmplicated to type this out so a video perhaps is in order so you will then get it all .

Mine quit after one month and there was NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT, NONE! Could not get any help so Amazon from whom I purchased it refunded my money. Quizlab has a hell of a big marketing campaign going on with all these KZfaq videos, but it SUCKS. Buy a different brand.
