R.A. the Rugged Man started out his recent VladTV interview by saying that he thinks the Soulja Boy and Chris Brown fight will happen, but the conversation quickly moved to NY hip-hop after Diddy's name was brought into the mix. R.A. praised Diddy for his ability to mold Biggie like a true A&R and get him to the level that he achieved during his short career.
During the interview R.A. also shared his thoughts on why he likes J.Cole over Kendrick, and why Salaam Remi should've hit Vlad for saying, Nas, is the worst beat picker. Hit the above clip to hear the full conversation.

I never understood why the Chance the Rappers or Kanye or Kendricks of the world always win. But dudes like YG or Game can't even get a nomination. Hell even Tip in his prime never won rap album of the year. Fugees won over Pac in 97, Outkast won over 50 in '04 rap album of the year is a joke bruh.

Who even takes the Grammys seriously when it comes to Hip Hop, especially after they gave Macklemore the award over Kendrick, and after they gave Puffy the award over Wu-Tang Forever. You can tell the "judges" aren't really fans or experts on Hip Hop. They basically look at which albums had singles that topped the Billboard charts for the longest, and then vote based on that. And yeah they go for more accessible mainstream albums rather than darker albums, or grimier albums, or deeper albums.

That's all opinionated, IMO Cole has yet to release an album close to the caliber of GKMC, nonetheless TPAB one of the greatest albums of the decade. Kendrick reminds me of 3 stacks in the aspect that they tell great stories well and tell it from multiple perspectives and the stories are usually parables to teach people a lesson about the hood and how to avoid it.

They're both wrong about Kendrick, if j cole and Kendrick ever do the rumored collab album you'll see clearly they're both top mcs of our time and Kendrick isn't behind j cole as far as lyrics go. J coles songs are easier to comprehend Kendrick might say some shit you won't be able to figure out right away because of the complexity and technicality. Both are definitely top 5 lyricists of our time right now.

"Just because you can't understand him doesn't mean that he's nice." Not saying that Kendrick isn't nice but a lot of you think just because a rapper makes lyrics that are hard to understand it makes them better than other artist or it makes them more "lyrical" and it doesn't.

He should prove to you hiphop isnt a matter of race. Do you get honorary white status for posting your insignificant opinion on social media so well. Or would It would it prove no race exclusively speaks for social media. People prove themselves worthy as hiphop artists. They arent proving to be black.. This honorary black bllshtt has to end. It should only matter who represents the poor not just the black. And almost anyman given this status is successful and no longer is poor or one of us. They may speak for us, to a degree, but they arent us. Black white red. Doesnt matter if you own a car worth more than anything i will ever own. Which is the main reason DRUG DEALERS , pimps, and gangbangers dont really represent the streets. They like rappers, profit off the struggle. They dont represent it normally
@benjaminjeanes998
@benjaminjeanes998 5 жыл бұрын
Explain to me how it is not racist to speak for all black people? Explain to me how others arent speaking for you by you repeating this cultural bs? Yes. I am saying you are being racist and a sheep, that isnt speaking for yourself. You have to think for yourself for that to happen. And ive heard this bs many places. You did not come up with it. And you are not only one who speaks for their whole race.. Honestly you share a greater bond with those of like experiences, not skin color. Which is why you connect with this man, not because he should be the color you are. That is dumb
@benjaminjeanes998

I wish I would have someone in my life that knows more about hip hop than me but has other opinions on some shit I think. I mean I know a bit but I was born in 1994 so the fact that I mostly listen to 90's underground shit has a completely other effect on me and my knowledge about it thatn someone who came from that time.But my goal is to know more and more good shit, know the lyrics and understand them because Hip Hop is life and it's the only kind of religion I exeprienced in mine. To hear the lifestorys of other people who have other opinions than you, who went threw other shit than you and to get a look in thier minds is so fascinating to me and it tells yourself who you are and builds your character in a way. Sorry if some of this shit is spelled wrong the thing is that I'm from germany and I have far less practice with the english language than I wish I have. But in my opnion german rap is a shitshow compaired to the original. Here 90% of the rappers aren't real or play a role or bite each other and trap is getting bigger and bigger day by day like in america. The difference to America is that you have tons and tons of stuff from the past and the present that is worth listening to everyday you can find something knew that blows your mind. My problem with trap is that people still look at it like it is Hip Hop but for me it is a whole knew music genre. When everyone would look at it like that everything would be much easier and the real Hip Hop artists who are killing it, who noone knows would have the chance to get heard more often or could get the credit they deserve.

Kendrick is way better than Cole. Out of the Black Friday Tracks Kendricks was the best. It isn't criminal J Cole didn't win a grammy because his album was second best compared to kendricks. You don't get participation awards. And I love how RA is trying to act Like Kendrick had this free flowing flowery album and that's why the grammys picked it. Kendricks was more aggressive than Cole's album. I swear yall are trippin. And Cole's new album was boring, and you're talking about he's a better songwriter than Kendrick. GTFOH. J Cole doesn't have one album better than kendrick. I swear this guy seems like a hater, and just because people consider Kendrick such a good rapper too, like why are you mad at him for being good I don't understand.

I like both of them, but I agree Kendrick is a better artist. His concepts are great with songs like "How much a dollar Cost" and "These Walls" dude is a beast. Cole is more traditional I guess you could say with his style which is fine but I think RA and Vlad are kinda hating on K Dot. He has dropped 2 classic albums since his breakthrough in the music biz.

Kendrick is a true artist. Yeah he did a throwaway verse for TS but we'd all agree he probably didn't consider TS when making GKMD and especially TPAB and UTUM. He paints pictures, he story tells, he tries to best convey emotions when he's making HIS music. Kendrick probably isn't a top 5 lyricist but from changing his voice, to the production and lyrical content makes his much more interesting and creative than those people who can only rap well. Music is subjective but saying Kendrick isn't a true artist is a bit ridiculous.

I don't think Kendrick is a word play rapper nor is he trying to be one. His purpose is to tell stories and steer people away from the evils of the world by telling stories about people that have fallen to those evils, sometimes even himself. I don't think Cole is a better song writer, Kendrick has yet to release a bad album, 4yeo as a whole was definitely a bad if not average album at the best. The songs themselves were decent, but for it to be a concept album the album wasn't cohesive.

You kinda wrong about Salaam and Amy. Yeah he worked on 12 songs of Amy but he wasnt her "main" producer, most biggest hits actually were made by Mark Ronson. Mark Ronson wasn't executive producer, he actually made the biggest Amy hit "Rehab". And Salaam worked with Mark many times together. Also Salaam wasn't song writer, he was music producer for Amy.
