Years ago, my grandma made the mistake of saying how much she loved a gift. The gift was pig related for some reason. For the rest of her life, she received pig related gifts regularly. She told us years later that she didn't really like pigs, but the gifts were sweet, so she just went with it. She had pig paintings, statues, and even a small crystal pig I got her. Her house was full of pigs. 😂

"OH well now you can have the kid back, she's born wrong bc she's YOURS" The kid turns out gay? Blame OP and the husband's 'bad genes' or something. Also where they ever gonna plan to tell the kid? Or just lie and tell the kid she can never get a DNA test. Or what if the kid turns out to be a spitting image of ops husband? Story2 I believe Kay was actually harrassing Op and not trying to help at all, for whatever reason. @bwpersona6718
@bwpersona6718 Ай бұрын
And even worse, say Kay was right and OP was being abused. How does repeatedly calling the cops going to help? She had no evidence except for bruises OP already explained away, never talked to OP like THE TEACHER SUGGESTED, and somehow, sending cops to OP's door is going to magically save OP from abuse?! She's in lalaland if she thinks it's that easy. If OP was being abused, OP could easily lie about the bruises and the cops wouldn't be able to do anything, because he refused to tell the truth! And if OP was being abused, wouldn't that just mean the abuser would get angrier at OP, since they'll automatically think OP called 911 or told someone about the abuse, AND ABUSE THEM HARDER?! But of course, she didn't think about that. And FYI, I'm pretty clumsy myself, and I have vision in both eyes. Not "I'm always covered in bruises" clumsy, but enough that I occasionally find bruises and little micro-cuts from bumping into furniture, door handles, and even wide-open doorways.

Story 2-Kay is going to get everything she deserves for not letting things be after the first call. She KNEW OP was saying she had a disability that causes the bruises, but she not only called the cops once (once might be legitimate concern that OP is lying) but multiple times, even after being told to stop and being moved classes for harassment. What was her goal though? What was she trying to achieve? She was told so many times that OP wasn't being abused and had a disability that caused the bruises, and that if she didn't stop, she'd get in trouble eventually. But she kept going until the police filed charges against Kay for harassment and misuse of police. Also, if OP WAS being abused in this case, Kay wouldn't have been helping. A lot of abusers get worse as the police fail to help, both sue to the power of not being arrested and out of revenge against the abused for "reporting them" even if it wasn't the abused party. And the others had a point. No abuse victim is going to willingly show the marks of abuse. It's seen as shameful and many victims believe they are at fault for being abused. I just don't understand what the end goal was here...

Also, NEVER go to the Bishop for advice in marriage and relationships. Honestly, the Church is a bunch of hypocrites in some capacity depending on where you are. My sister was suffering in her marriage to her Ex and the Bishop told her to stay with her Ex and try to work it out, that they needed to work it out for the children. Y'all, wtf? Ex refused to work on himself, believing nothing was wrong. My sister left for her own sake and it was like she had the plague after. No one contacted her, people she thought were friends dropped her, and no one contacted her to see if she was okay. No, they all flocked to her Ex, lamenting how my sister had 'abandoned her kids and duty as a wife and mother'. They would rather she stay in a relationship that was detrimental to her health than have her leave so she could actually be a better mom. She's much happier now with her new boyfriend who treats her kindly and doesn't get mad at her over every little thing.

Abuse should NEVER be tolerated in our community and it makes me sick that people would suggest staying with an abuser. I agree that bishops are NOT qualified to help in cases of abuse and can often give horrible advice. If my kids or myself have issues of any sort I will be taking us to THERAPY not a bishop. I am angered sooo much hearing stories about judgemental horrific members who treat others like dirt. They are the exact opposite of how we are supposed to act. I hope your sister is thriving and happy in her new life and I am sooo relieved she got away from her abuser. I agree, a bishop is a spiritual leader and that's it. One interesting thing to note with Bishops in the Mormon church is that it's not a full time permanent position. The bishop is literally just some guy from the congregation called to serve in the position. Every few years, a new bishop is called and the previous one is released. If the Mormon church insist on being in charge and controlling the lives of their congregation to the point they chase them down years after they try to leave, then they can act like the so-called community leaders they claim to be and support their community by helping families, protecting their congregants and being available for counseling with an actual open ear. Y'know, like churches do historically? Instead, it appears they just do their best to keep women as second class citizens and tout their supremacy over other sects while raking in the donation money.

@wingracer1614 Oh I don't know, call the police? Back her up? Have the congregation he has control over to help/support her while she tries to leave? Believe her? I don't know, be Christ-like? I get he's not a therapist, but being a good friend can, and often is, good enough for him to be to the members. I'm so sorry you had to go through that without the community that didn't really act like one Barbara. It is quite hypocritical when one of their own needs their help the most, they often either ignore it or throw "the blemish" out. If it wasn't obvious enough, I'm an exmo and have seen this bullshit play out with my own parents (though nowhere near as severe as your situation). I hope you're in a better place now./gen

Whether they’re able to provide a better life for OP’s baby is a completely different matter compared to OP’s aunt constantly harassing her by trying to steal her baby in the name of religion! If I was in her aunt’s shoes, of course I would want OP’s baby to have a better life, but I would never force her to give her baby up to me ever! Also, that LDS Bishop is spineless if he refuses to chastise OP’s aunt for not allowing OP to do as she pleases for her own baby! It’s not OP’s aunt’s baby, it’s OP’s baby end of story!

That first story does remind me of the strongest display of faith I've ever personally seen... The youth minister and his wife at a church I used to go to believed God had promised them that they would have a family between the two of them; i.e. natural birth as opposed to adoption or surrogates. So they got pregnant once...and it was stillborn after a couple months. They prayed again and got the same response. So they tried again...and it was stillborn after a couple months. More discouraged, they prayed yet again and still had the same response. On the third time, they got past the "danger phase" of the first two pregnancies, and finally felt their prayer was granted. They got everything ready, went through all the normal parents with new baby preparation, and got almost to the end of the seventh month...and a stillborn. Now, being a Christian myself, at that point I would have concluded that I wasn't really hearing the voice of God and just my own imagination, and I would have considered this time to give up. Especially since at this point they were emotionally devastated and hopeless; ESPECIALLY the wife. Now they have two kids and I thought I remembered them hearing they had a third along the way.

Second had an update, kay continued to call, and possibly had other people call to report abuse as the cops mentioned multiple reports, cops stopped showing up at OP’s request and began noting names and numbers, Kay was charged with misuse of police resources and harassment and has been suspended because of the charges and when the charges go through she’ll be expelled. Kay’s mom went on a hunt trying to find OP to make them drop the charges, but the county/state is bringing charges, not OP. They made the school aware and are being escorted by security to class and everyone is on the lookout for Kay and family as they aren’t allowed anywhere near OP.

Anyway, evil cousin rented the house next to me to nice family with two kids. And called CPS on them multiple times for no reason. And told them that I did it, which they didn't believe. She just liked hurting people and used abuse reports to do it, ironically while being an elder abuser herself. . She went to jail for stealing huge amounts of money from nice old lady.

Story 1: As a member of this church, I would like to add some more information. While the aunt is correct that we believe a child should be raised in a strong, stable, and loving home and taught church doctrine. We absolutely cannot and should not force other families to do the same. Let alone try to take a child. That is way outside of the teachings of the church. Also, going to the Aunt's bishop was an interesting choice. Our bishops are unpaid, volunteers, and have very few options when it comes to discipline. Like all people, they are imperfect. They are also not police officers or therapists. When it comes to harrasment, it is much better to contact law enforcement or lawyers before going to a bishop.

For the first story, while I also have religious differences from the aunt and cousin, I don't like seeing potential parents suffering. There might be a simple reason the cousin is constantly losing the baby, and I want to bring this up because it caused me a few miscarriages before successfully having my daughter. Blood type incompatibility. If OP sees this, talk to your cousin about the possibility about blood type incompatibility. There's this shot they make you take twice during pregnancy to ensure your baby survives, called the RhoGAM shot. What could be happening is the baby's blood type could be different from the cousin's, and the cousin's body is treating the baby like a disease as a result. I'm not saying it's definite, but it's something for OP and the cousin to look into.

The door story makes me think of an anecdote from a former employer. I worked at a mom and pop pizza shop and the owner lets call her Linda, was a fairly short woman. (I estimate maybe between 4'11-5'3?) Linda was very much a hard working, boots on the ground, lead by example type boss, and she could practically run the kitchen herself if needed. I bring up the fact that she's short because the pizza oven was very tall and fairly deep, and as a result of its size relative to her, she had her fair share of burns from her arm grazing the bottom edge when it was open. During a slow day one time she told me that she once had somebody who was a licensed counselor express concern about her "self harming" because they noticed several horizontal red lines of varying ages and degrees on her wrists and forearms.

And Kay is doing, or _started out_ doing what we've all been taught the last twenty years; if you see something, SAY something, right? That said, she reported the first time, an investigation was done, and *that should have been the end of it.* Kay's duty was done. As someone who is LDS, that is not how someone of our religion should ever act, nor are they encouraged to be like that. Although we may believe that children should be raised with good morals and where they understand how much God loves them, that doesn't mean that people aren't entitled to their own agency. And in fact, that is one of the advantages of our religion, is believing in people's free will.

I was raised mormon, so teenage pregnancy was a HUGE no-no. My Young Women's leader told me that her sister (who lived across the country) was struggling with fertility issues and that she had a "personal revelation" that I was supposed to give my baby to her sister. I told her that I felt in my heart of hearts that I was supposed to keep my baby. Even though she was my youth leader, she stopped talking to me after that. As if I wasn't worth her time because I didn't want to give my baby to a stranger who lived several states away.

I have a similar story to the bruise story. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, but since it's a more recently discovered condition, I wasn't diagnosed until I was 23. At the age of 9, I started having my joints pop out of place and excessive bruising from the smallest things, like lightly bumping into a table or a cat putting too much weight on one paw while in my lap. I started seeing a chiropractor, and after a year of readjustments every 3 or 4 weeks, she asked me if my dad was physically abusing me. Now, my dad can be quite a jerk, who speaks his mind (and not in a good way), so I understand why she asked, but I was extremely offended and pissed off that she assumed that; as a child, my dad never treated me poorly, quite the opposite actually. I firmly told her no, that my dad would never hit me, but she would not drop it. Her asking nicely wasn't what really upset me though. She actually blocked the door and told me that I couldn't leave until I "told her the truth". After several minutes of trying to convince her, and her practically yelling at me, demanding that I confess, I finally was so angry and scared of her, that I pushed past her HARD, and went out to my dad crying. I told him what she was accusing him of and how I had to force my way out of the room, and he confronted her, only for her to say that I was lying, that she hadn't accused him of that or tried to keep me from leaving. He told her that he hadn't raised a liar, and that we would not be coming back (to be clear, my dad had been going to her for over 12 years at that point). A few days later, my dad gets a call about the reported "abuse", and I was forced to be checked over for any "clear signs of abuse", and I had to talk with a therapist. The doctor ultimately ruled that I was not being abused, that I had early on-set arthritis and my bruises did not look like they came from abuse, but rather "from normal child clumsiness", which is what I genuinely thought it was. Fast forward to after I got diagnosed with EDS as an adult. I made a point to go to her office to tell her to her face about my diagnosis, and to tell her how I didn't appreciate how she had trapped my 10 year old self in the room and harassed me over and over to "confess", then called social services. That she could have ruined both mine and my parent's lives, and if she had suspected abuse, there were much better ways she could have handled that, instead of scaring the living hell out of me and refusing to let me leave. She just stood there, silent and dumbfounded, and I left.

My mom bruises very easily, so do my younger brother and myself. When I was a toddler we moved from a small apartment into the house my brothers and I would grow up in. If you have every moved, you’ll know that you get bumped around a bit moving furniture and other things. My mom got pretty bruised up moving into the house. One day she got pulled aside at work by a coworker, who was concerned about her wellbeing, thinking my mom was being abused by my dad. The coworker gave her a bunch of information on women shelters and other resources for battered women. My mom had to explain that she wasn’t being abused. She just got bruised moving into the new house, that she was fine, and my dad would never hurt her. The coworker was very skeptical. My parents have been married for 40 years now. I can only think of one time I’ve heard my parents fight, And it was because of the neighbors. As I said I bruise easily too. I was a hyper active kid. With little to no fear. I also have a very high pain tolerance. So I’d climb a tree, fall out of the tree taking out all the branches on my way down. Then get back up and climb the tree again. I was always bruised and cut up because I was unstoppable! Needless to say my grade school teachers noticed that I always looked like I got into a fight. One day a group of them were discussing if they should call CPS on my parents thinking I was being abused. Our next door neighbor was a teacher at the school and over heard the conversation. She stopped and asked “are you taking about Jack MacDonald?” After to group said they were talking about me. My neighbor assured them I wasn’t being abused. I was just crazy hyper and that I was always crashing into things, falling out of tree. And my parents were great people that never hurt my brothers or me. I still bruise easily, but I’ve calm down quite a bit.

First story: yeah OP's aunt and cousin being part of the Mormon church explains a lot. Their "counseling" is made entirely by either other Church members, or by 'professionals' the Church has a list of recommendations for, because they always side with the Church's leadership or their beliefs instead of giving proper help; The Seven Passengers/Ruby Franke situation showed that very well: the "specialist" that Ruby was taking advice from and supporting, Jodi Hildebrandt, was on the Mormon Church list of support professionals even after all the complaints and controversies prior to her recent arrest, and another professional who was on that list said she was removed from it for not following the Church's views on sexuality (like being gay being a sin); It's also a pretty big case of financial abuse on their side aswell, since they pay for professional help only if the member goes to one of the professionals in the list, so yeah no wonder counseling didn't help OP's cousin at all, and I feel it's better if she cuts contact with her own mother and get actual help, for not only OP and her child's safety and wellbeing, but for her own aswell.

I’m happy that op finally decided to pay attention to the red flags but she was also just too needy for a man who sucked as a person in general. So no she’s no victim. She volunteered to be a doormat because she loved him more than he wanted her.

My friends daughter slipped and fell on the ice in front of a small town business in their hometown. The daughter broke her arm, once at the hospital the girl and the mom were crying and my friend's husband was pissed. The nurse decided to call the cops on my friends husband for child abuse and assault cause he looked pissed enough to hurt his daughter. They hadn't even gone in to see a nurse or a doctor yet. When my friend and her husband were waiting in the room for their daughter to get back from getting X-rays a cop and a nurse came into the room to get to the bottom of the broken arm. That doctor was so pissed at this nurse and the doctor knew my friend and her family since their daughters were friends and were in the same grade at the same school and the doctors wife had falling in front of the same store two days earlier. This store has always been awful about putting ice melt on their sidewalks during winter and lots of people get hurt there each winter. The nurse was arrested for making a false police report and I think she was even fired from the hospital she worked at. She told the police she had talked to my friends daughter and she said her father had broken her arm, when in fact she never once spoken to him.

My girlfriend is blind in one eye. It's been that way since she was a young child. She doesn't remember a time when she had two working eyes. Yet, she isn't constantly bumping into anything. And she's never mentioned anything like that to me. Did the OP of the second story go blind in one eye later in life? Is that the difference?

Ooof nunchaku can bruise you like no one’s business! I did martial arts as a a kid/teen and I was covered in bruises because my training partners were my friends and we always went hard with each other. My arms were mottled. Luckily I always wore t-shirts and no one ever suspected anything about abuse.

I think that Kay might’ve ‘liked’ OP and wanted to “save” them like a person helping a beat-up abandoned puppy. That or just a straight-up hero complex.
