My mother had a still birth (when the baby is born dead) 15 years ago, he would have been my older brother, and she was so frightened that I wouldn’t make it either. Every year on May 15th (his birthday) we go to the cemetery with a small cake and we all sing him happy birthday, his beanie that my grandmother was going to give him as a birth day present is mounted on the wall with a custom engraved plaque. And she wears a necklace with a lock of his hair in it. The loss of a child hurts for-EVER. People need to stop being so insensitive.

I've had 18 pregnancies. Five live births of beautiful healthy babies. I still go into funks... Depressed days because of all my losses and how they affect me today. I don't share that with anyone tho. As I've been told to get over it as I have five children now and they're healthy. I mean ya. I do. They're my life but losing a baby is hard to deal with.... Even after many many years.

A proper response to a miscarriage near my wedding would be: "I'm sorry about your loss. If you aren't ready, I won't be mad if you miss the wedding. I'll save you some cake!"

Exactly! And if she does decide to attend, a good thing to say would be "I'm so glad you're feeling up to it! Please let me know if I can do anything to make the day a bit easier for you. I know you've mentioned that you haven't felt ready to tell people what happened yet, and was just thinking about the best way to make sure you don't get overwhelmed with well-meaning inquiries on something that I know is still really fresh and painful for you".

@@Me-wk3ix Unfortunately telling people in advance doesn't always work, people are idiots. One time I got to a birthday party while having a horrible allergic reaction in my eyes. When I got there and everyone stared at me I declared it's an allergic reaction and can we please move on. Did they move on? Pffft they each came to talk to my separately about my eyes, one going so far as to explain to me what an allergic reaction is [at the time I was at the start of a PhD in biology, just so you know how stupid that was]. So I'm not sure informing people in advance would prevent the overwhelming well meaning inquiries

Indeed, which is even worse. Now, I don't know how miscarriages work in reality, but in the cases of a stillborn baby, you're basically giving birth. Yes, to a dead child. But still went through labor. A labor that should've given you a living baby. But you didn't get that living child. Which means all the pain and trauma of labor has basically went for nothing.

As the husband of a wife who went thru this, its something you will never get over. Something will just trigger it and for me at least all that pain comes back. She takes it the hardest which is to be expected. So people who say 1. I thought you'd be over this - You never will be. And 2. You dont need to be upset - F you. You dont know what that person is been thru. Just thought I would throw in my feelings on the whole thing as someone who this has happened to.

I have had 2 miscarriages. In both cases, the baby had been with me for only a few months, and I never got to meet them, but they were (and ARE) in my heart. Many, many women have also gone through a miscarriage, probably more than you realize. It is a silent loss and pain which will always be there. The bridezilla...*shakes head*. I am glad she was outed as the (message redacted) that she really was.

8:49 As a fish keeper, this made me really bloody pissed. She claims to be an animal lover but wants to put fish in a glob. Are you out of your mind?! Not only would they have no place to swim or hide but they would be severely stressed to the point of death. And even if they did survive and gust took them home who knows what kind of a hell hole the would be put into. Gold can live for up to 25 years on average when taken care of properly. They are intelligent and make great pets and can even recognise faces and learn tricks. Also, they grow huge 20 gallons each is required. People who use animals as decorations are the lowest scum of the earth and deserve to rot in hell. Thankfully Sun was able to survive.

It’s not just the bride, EVERYONE makes it about them, so can you blame them? It’s ingrained into us as a society that a wedding is all about the bride and what she wants, and the groom is just her accessory, and were all there to tell her how beautiful she is and how happy we are for her. I HATE weddings. In my opinion weddings should be small, private affairs. Hell, I wouldn’t want anyone else at my wedding but me and whoever I marry. No one really cares. They’re just there out of obligation.

Yes, I taught mine to do tricks. And they can live a long time, some have made it into their forties. They need a large tank (at least ten gallons per fish with a good filter) as they produce a lot of waste for their size, keeping them in bowls is cruel.

She probably felt flutters and even knew she was having a girl so at this point she was a stillborn and the process to get the baby out at that stage is awful... Not only did her baby die she had to go threw other hardships that would remind her constantly that she is gone... What a horrible human that bride is if you can even call her that!

Sarina Lain I’ve had both early miscarriages and a stillborn at 40 weeks. You don’t get over either, but losing the stillborn does hit harder. Because it went further. And there’s the trauma of giving birth to the stillborn. They are both terrible to experience. I saw red when I saw the words “it’s not like you knew her”. I now have healthy children but I do miss the ones I lost.

My mum had a stillborn baby when I was almost 3. He should have been 18 now, and we all miss him and there’s still a lot of grief for my parents. You definitely don’t get over it, even as a sibling who at the time wouldn’t have understood much. I’ve had the whole ‘my loss is worse because I knew [person they lost]!’ Argument and it’s heartbreaking. Loss is hard no matter the relationship 💗

The one about the bride with all the requirements to be girly kinda broke my heart, my friend of 13 years just had her wedding and i was a bridesmaid, she always said she was just happy i was there, and meant it. I had all my tattoos showing, along with some scars that i wasnt proud of but i had gotten more comfortable with, the side of my head was shaved, my nails were horrendous and i had botched my hair colour which thankfully didnt show due to my hair being curled. Her kindness and not caring if i turned up in a paper bag as long as i was there by her side is what really made the day special

a miscarriage is most definitely not something to just "get over." when i was 15 years old i was raped by my then boyfriend, got pregnant, and ended up having a miscarriage. i wasn't far along, but enough to see skin in the blood that my body discharged. i have PTSD now and almost 5 years later i'm still trying to "get over it." i couldn't imagine having been further along and actually knowing and loving that baby. poor girl. i feel so badly for her

I waitressed for a baby shower one time where a 3 year old girl got hit by a car right in front of the restaurant. It’s was crazy and disturbing- a ton of cop cars and ambulances, the mom screaming crying, the driver that hit the little girl screaming crying (it was not her fault.) You couldn’t not see it. The lady who the baby shower was for was really classy about it, but I felt really bad for her. The whole day was horrible and her family spent so much money for her to have a party.

In the first episode of Sherlock, they use main character being confused that someone was still upset about her stillborn baby a few years later as a sign that he’s lacking in empathy. He didn’t say it to her face (she was dead, to be fair), and shut up immediately afterwards when he realized he had said something Not Good. When you make the guy who beats corpses with a riding crop look warm and understanding, you’ve really fucked up.

H H - “Barely alive” I get (I’m pro-choice), but one has to remember that she’s not just mourning a bundle of cells... she’s mourning all the hopes and dreams she had for that child. One of my friends is expecting, and our entire friend group is already talking about her daughter like she’s a person already. How we want to kiss little baby toes, and cuddle her all day. They’ve remodeled a room in their home, and I’ve crocheted two baby hats, while another friend is knitting a sweater. If Sarah’s baby died, we’d all be losing a part of our lives, and she’d be DEVASTATED. She’s felt a new life growing inside her for months, and now? Add that to the cocktail of hormones rushing though her body (google “postpartum depression”), and that bride needs to sit down & shut up.

If you love the person you are marrying the wedding will be as memorable as if you spent millions of dollars, and, Im not even gonna talk about wedding dresses and planning, ugh. I agree, but I also have a bit of mixed feelings... I’ve seen pretty sucky people who go up to the stage to “make their speech to the newlyweds” and propose to someone. I feel like it IS the newlyweds wedding night, not the best time to propose, not counting the fact that proposing in public is evil and the other half basically can’t say no in front of this whole crowd.

I’ve been to a wedding with goldfish bowls as decorations. I think anyone who plans to do this should do something similar. I know they’re just fish but they’re still living creatures. The couple who got married had a goldfish/koi pond they had built by their new home. After the wedding they turned the fish loose into the pond. A lot of those goldfish are still alive to this day since the bride absolutely adored goldfish.

Goldfish naturally live a very long time even up to 35 years depending on the breed, people just don't know how to take care of them and think they are supposed to die in a week and just need a bowl no filter and don't realize just one goldfish needs 20 gallons. It's so sad how common they are and people don't know how to take care of them. I'm happy something actually worked out and was well planned.

Let me tell you if I was the person who just had a miscarriage and someone said that to my face I would slap them so hard. That's so horrid. My mom had two miscarriages before my brother and I were born. Unfortunately she didn't know the genders but I do know that I have siblings up in heaven and that even if I didn't know them and wasn't even born when they died I still love them because they are my family and can't wait to meet them someday.

DFQuartz IDN There was a pond on my grandmother's farm where my step-grandfather put the two goldfish he'd been given. He had kept them in a bowl in the house, but felt bad they didn't have much room. 8 years after granddaddy died, those 2 fish were huge, and still happily swimming.

If I had a wedding, and someone I invited had a miscarriage, I would express empathy. I wouldn’t be sure of what else what to do other than comfort them, even if it was at my wedding.

If a close friend was unfortunate enough to have that happen, I wouldn't give a shit about the attention, they can come, and I'd actively show my support to them, as well as ask guests to do the same.

I would message them saying if they do not want to go to the wedding that it's ok not to go and not to feel obligated if you still need time to move on. But leave the choice of whether or not they want to attend up to them.

She did a shitty thing but ruining an entire wedding which takes months or even years to plan..they are still celebrating their love, i don’t think the crime fits the punishment, even tho I don’t like the bride, she was insensitive and rude, but op already posted and tagged them on fb, I wouldn’t go as far as to purposefully messing up the wedding day

I had a miscarriage 9years ago, it still rips my heart out... one of my cats passed last week and it hurt so much and also brought up the memories and feelings of loosing my baby. OP I’m so so sorry for your loss, I know how much pain you’re in and I’m so so sorry you have to know the pain of losing your daughter too, that bride certainly wasn’t ever your friend! I had toxic, selfish people around me too that made the situation so much more traumatic. Sending you much love and gentle hugs. I’m so so sorry for you and your partners loss... I honestly wish I had words to offer.

I work in the wedding industry and I told my boss something last week that I think sums it up. She was talking about how some weddings are doing the trendiest things that just aren't formal anymore. “In the 90s and before, weddings were for marriages and family. Now weddings are for Instagram.”

"Goldfish don't live long." Honey, tell that to the goldfish I've had since kindergarten that I got at a FAIR. I'm currently going into the eigth grade and that baby is still kicking. Along with another fish breed that I had since I think second or third grade. I'm either a good fish parent or lucky, but I know from my personal experience that fish, if properly taken care of, can live for a WHILE.

Bless OP for trying to take care of the goldfish. In my experience, most goldfish are somewhat delicate and don't live long, but every now and again you'll find one like Sun who defies expectations and goes on to live a (for a goldfish) long life.

When I was a kid in the 90s we got our pet goldfish from a wedding centerpiece. There were two, but mine died in the bag before we got home. The other one lived a pretty long time. My brother named it Data from TNG. Idk what became of all the other ones. Most of them probably died during transport like mine. No matter how gentle you are, it’s a big shock to their little bodies.

I literally wanted to punch her through the computer screen as soon as that popped up. I still remember how fascinating it was when my wife was pregnant and I could feel our children moving around inside of her, and how excited we were to finally be parents. If we'd lost a pregnancy and someone said, "It's not like you knew her," I'd probably punch them in the face, even if they meant it in a good way. That's basically saying, "It's not like it was a real baby."

I'm childfree, but oh my god I wanted to throttle that attention wh0r3 of a bride. Obviously the parents loved that kid, and to them this is a crushing blow to lose the baby, especially to a stillbirth, but the bride's dismissal of their pain and basically saying it didn't matter is disgusting! You don't say that kind of sh*t to a parent who has lost a child, no matter how young the kid was, if the parents considered the fetus a baby at day 12, then that is their kid and if they miscarry on day 14 their child has died. How could anyone act as that bride did shocks and disgusts me. I hope the husband leaves her after seeing this, because you have to be an incredibly cold and selfish human being to act this way, especially to someone who is supposed to be your friend.

I disagree with the bride. She was very rude. However, she was right. A miscarriage is traumatising, but it’s better if the traumatised person doesn’t go. They would be hurt by societal pressure and comments, and the celebration would be ruined if they caused a scene as a result of too much pressure

My mom's first miscarriage that she had I was six. It was around Christmas and I still tear up. Miscarriages are a big deal. I have a tattoo to represent my brothers that have passed away. My heart goes out to every momma that has lost a baby. Much love to you strong women.

My stepdad passed a while ago. I was 6-7, now I'm 12. I can tell you 3-4 *years* isn't enough sometimes. People need to figure out what empathy is before humanity buckles.

I was devastated by my grandpa dying, and it took me more than half a year to get over it. And I was 8/9.. I can't imagine losing your baby daughter. (knowing it was a girl meaning it was already a late stage too).. 2 months enough? No f'ing way

My story is nowhere near any of the comments and can never be equated to the OP's story (its basically 3 kittens and a cat), but I can somewhat relate to the pain. 1. I lost 3 kittens at once in ~Dec 2018. They just strolled outside the house and never returned. I've never felt such pain because they were little kittens (the equivalent of a 5yo I think) and I had no idea what would happen/had happened to them. If they died, then I'd at least know they died. If someone found them, then at least they have a roof under their head. But I still have no idea where are they now. That was in 2018. Two years now. I'm still not over it. 2. Shortly after ^^^^, my other adult cat got hit by a car and died on the spot. That was in 2018 also. I'm still mourning her. After 2 years. This bride can get fucked. I hope she undergoes what the OP has been through. Then someone mock her for it.

"You didn't even know her" As I know a women who tried for FIVE YEAR to even get pregnant that line hit hard. Say what you will lady but just because you didn't know them doesn't mean you didn't love them with all your heart. This women had tried to have kids the moment she was married, just seeing the words pregnant made her cry with tears of joy. Shut the f up lady, you have no idea what it's like to be pregnant than have that ripped away, just be happy you didn't go through the same

Agree with this! I didn't even know I was pregnant before I had a miscarriage and it hit hard because I knew what I'd lost. So knowing your pregnant and then losing your child would hit 100x worse. That bridebitch was waaaaay outta line.
