For the "Replace the grass with fake grass" thingy While it could be done, fake grass needs to be replaced every now and then (at best every 10 years but since golf courses have cars going around, it would be way less), and since its mostly made out of plastic, good luck trying to do something about the crap-ton of plastic grass that a golf field would use. This is ignoring that it tears over time wich means it might need replacement more often, and that it still needs to be cleaned so itll waste water either way. Also, it damages your soil which could lead to microplastics building up and causing the area to be infertile. Basically, artificial grass is just a worse idea. Golf clubs have a very solid and well-deserved reputation for putting holes in whatever surface you're playing the game on, any time a golfer misses the ball. Holes in a layer of dirt with some grass growing in it, are a heck of a lot cheaper to repair than holes in fake turf. Enough so, that even the cost of keeping the course properly watered would be WAY less expensive in the long run.
