The Fire Assembly Point is where you're supposed to go if the building has to be evacuated, so they can count heads and see if anyone's missing. One surrounded by wood isn't a good idea - but probably better than a place I worked at decades ago: it occupied two buildings separated by a narrow alley, and the assembly point was "across the road" from whichever building had been evacuated, where a collapsing building would certainly come down on people.

2:23 somebody told me once, gates and fences like that aren't meant to keep people out, it's for legal reasons, so if you sneak in they can say "hey, we put a fence up there, you went around it so you can't sue us!" to cover themselves

The doors with the peep hole I think I might have an idea for. If the wood part of the door is standard and the windows can be interchanged to be like stained glass or frosted or some other type of “glass” that’s less easily seen through

I was also thinking of people who paint over the windows and maybe scraped the paint off - but yes the changable windows also make a lot of sense.

The glass was added later, the original door would have had wooden panels like the ones below the glass, this is very common.

1:10 that's a shark cage for cats, the only escape is by the one controlling the cage. If you drop it in a deep bathtub, the weight of it might sink the cat.

Kind of a "not my job" sort of thing. You look at the blueprints, think "Ok, 🤔 well... What??? They want me to do WHAT?? Ok, no, yes, yeah, no, yesh, nuh, yup, nuuuuuhhhh..." Then your mind has a seizure, shuts down and you just start building whatever the picture tells you to build. I once built out an office with a crew of six people. We looked at the prints and woke up a few days later with a wicked hangover and about 1500 square feet of one of the most bizarre layouts I've seen outside of The Backrooms and Government Offices. It all matched the prints, and the client was very happy with it, but damned if any of us could make heads or tails of what was what or the why of any of it. Door frames and pass-throughs were in random places; a couple of exterior windows inside at strange heights; desks and counter tops at staggered heights; outlets and junction boxes at random places, including a coax cable routed through the middle of a window frame to the exterior. Poking fun at the crew's designated Conspiracy Nut, the boss joked that the clients were aliens. 👽 We all gave a nervous chuckle and stood around for a few moments in nervous silence before just leaving. We never talked about that job again.

@@taitano12 not saying I necessarily believe this, but it's definitely a good story and I'm glad I read it. there is probably a suitable subreddit that will really enjoy a more detailed version of your story.

@@ArcanineEspeon Well, the waking up a few days later part was an exaggeration. But the whole experience was very surreal. To this day, I have no idea what the layout was for or what the client did, and when it was over, it felt like a fever dream. We just proceeded with no clue as to what in the world we were building, collected our pay, and moved on. The aliens comment was real, though; and reaction was just a shared sense of humor. We really did avoid talking about it though. It was genuinely creepy. The whole Backrooms thing always reminded of it, even though The Backrooms came out nearly twenty years later. I imagine it was like that for many of the builders in this video. "You want me to what?? Umm OK... It's up to code, I think. So, sure. I can do that... Don't know WHY... But, sure, why not."

3:05 I feel like baige smells like nothing, like you know that one cleaning product thingy where they had to add a chemical scent because it cleaned so well that there was no smell left and it weirded people out? It would smell like that, it would remove the smell of the everything else.

2:25 the primary school I went to had a field and a massive gate at the end to stop people from leaving. The gate wasn’t too wide but there were trees on either side so no one could get out anyway. A few years after I left I walked past the entrance to that field where the gate was and for some reason they had decided to cut the trees down, making the gate completely useless because people could walk around it and the tree stumps that had been left behind

8:55 is a visual word puzzle. That one is indeed "Downstairs", although it'd usually be drawn from left to right. Another example would be | R | E | A | D | I | N | G | which the solution for is "Reading between the lines". I used to have a book full of these when I was a kid.

Lol that Spongebob shirt gave me a major flashback. I was in my late teens when I owned a shirt with Spongebob on it that said 'Sexy, yeah, I get that all the time.' But my hair was at the longest it's ever been and it covered Spongebob and the y in Sexy. I got pretty used to the 'WTF" looks I was getting, so when I saw it I would pull my hair aside to show the rest and got a look of 'Ohhhhhhh OK."

A Crappy Desing that I know... In the clinic in my part of the city, the building is small, it only has space for two people to attend. Now, when you have an appointment, you have to arrive more than half an hour before, go to the window to activate your appointment. Well, in that place... instead of having one of the windows to activate the appointments... You have to arrive, skip the line, go to the person who is being served at the window and say that you are coming to activate your appointment...
