It's possible he was brainwashed by his wife (op's bio mother) and his son, that nothing like that happened, or that she was lying because she didn't like her step brother. And when this terrible thing happened again, he finally realised how much of terrible person his son is. Because people don't like to believe their family members, especially kids turned out to be killers or pedos

I think the step-dad was probably in denial. It's natural for a parent to want to take their own child's side when bad things happen, and when your spouse is feeding you lies it's easy to disconnect. Sometimes lightning needs to strike twice for you to be aware you're in a thunderstorm. He still wronged her, though. No question about that. But on the scale of 1-10 with 1 being "perfect saint," he's a 7 whereas his wife is 10.

I think you mean "barely knew", since OP contacted her half brother. It's most likely the case of the half siblings knew each other, but doesn't have much contact or relation, mostly due to OP's mother not wanting anyone else have control or support for OP.a typical narcissistic behavior of removing anyone that could possibly help or support their victim, so that they are gonna be very easy to manipulate, control, use and abuse...

Also when you add in the fact that he very easily could have been bitter and angry that OP’s mother was a part of the reason his parents divorced. I’m not giving the stepfather any kudos for finally stepping up to stop his degenerate son. He happily allowed Chris to harass OP for years and condoned his disgusting behavior. I’d bet the reason he’s testifying against Chris is to wash his hands off the situation since with OP he could just sweep the incident under the rug, but with the niece she actually has people that would fight tooth and nail to get justice and stepfather doesn’t want to face any consequences.

I think OP needs to help his boy cousin and show him alot of presence of care, love and attention, that is if he is willing. If not, that boy is doomed, he's gonna grow up a very very messed up guy who is going to be either easy prey for abusers or worse, be the abusive one, I don't think there is anything in between, if the boy didn't get help soon. Legally, there is no child abuse happening, provided the bot isn't being physically abused by the mother. Short of the child sealing her nose and mouth shut with some substance, it's impossible to kill yourself by just "holding your breath". The body won't allow it. Even if you actually had the fortitude to make yourself pass out by doing so (which a 2yo doesn't), your body would immediately start breathing on its own. Let the kid hold her breath. Tbh, OP calling a 2 year old "evil" turned me against them pretty much right away. Kids can be little monsters / borderline sociopathic if they don't have parents who take the effort to teach them to care about others. The odds are that OPs younger cousin won't even remember this party, but someone NEEDS to step in with the aunt, who is the real problem here. It's not too late to make her into a decent kid before she goes to school just by starting literally any kind of discipline (for example, I used to teach preschool/day care, and there were 2 girls in my class, 3 and 4, whose parents were good friends so they were best friends too. The older girls parents pulled strings with the center to have the 3 year old in the class with the four year old, even though she was supposed to be in the younger class. They were both pretty entitled and bratty, but it was obvious when you met the parents what had happened there, where basically the 4 year old was spoiled beyond belief and believed rules shouldn't apply to her or her friends, and because her parents had influence with the day care, we teachers weren't allowed to do anything when she misbehaved, including biting other kids, except writing up an incident report, not even allowed to put her in time out, and her attitude had rubbed off on her 3 year old friend who wasn't even supposed to be in that class. The difference was, sometime between the 4 year old's parents pulling strings and the time I got there, the 3 year old's mom had noticed and was trying to correct the behavior with a unique punishment system where she would ask us teachers if her daughter had behaved that day, and if the answer was no (as in, beyond the normally expected bad behavior by 3/4 year olds at a day care, like causing an incident report or repeatedly not listening all day to the point of disrupting the flow of class for the other kids), the mom would change what she had planned to make for her daughters dinner (foods like macaroni and cheese, pb+j, chicken nuggets, etc, typical kid friendly favorite foods) to a bowl of oatmeal with fresh fruit mixed in, so it was still something nutritional and tasty, not a bad dinner option, but it was the least favorite food her daughter would still eat, and that would be the girl's only option if she wanted to eat dinner, her favorite snacks like cookies would be off limits for the day too, but she could have the healthier snack options like grapes or goldfish, or she could choose to go to bed without it. That method was actually pretty effective without being abusive, the girl knew exactly why she was being punished because her mom would talk to her about what happened when she picked her up and why she would be punished, what the punishment would be when she got home, ans still had a full meal at dinnertime and snacks available to her, even if it wasn't what she really wanted, she could choose to eat or not and go to bed hungry, and the slate would get wiped clean each new day. Meanwhile, the other girls parents didn't do any sort of behavior control for their princess, wouldn't let us do anything either, and ended up getting me fired for not smiling big enough at them when they came to pick her up, usually only 10 minutes before they would start getting charged for late pickup, so this girl was one of the last ones picked up every day. Ugh, I hope wherever she is now, either she or her parents learned how to treat other people.)

Yeah I was like “she’s 2 and you think she’s evil?!” At that point it’s almost entirely the parents fault (sometimes there are difficult children who are difficult no matter what). I know I could be a hyperactive monster when I was a kid but one good thing about growing up on the lower end of middle class or upper end of poor is that I never expected gifts for nothing. IMO that made the gifts I did receive more special and meaningful. I still have the raggedy Ann doll my aunt made for me when I was 3 and the beanie baby my grandma gave me when I was 5 because gifts should be special and cherished for the memories and love that come with them. Spoiling a child like that doesn’t do them any good and it doesn’t make them love you more, it just makes them entitled to the point of no matter what you do it won’t be good enough because “they deserve it so you are doing the bare minimum “

Since it looks like everyone else is going over the more serious aspects of story 1 already, I'll go over a less serious one. "My mom said I owe her because she's my mother and it was my late father's missed child support." I agree with rslash. WTF? Unless I missed something, OP's father died. He didn't leave them and start a new family or something. So no child support is owed. Best case scenario, he had life insurance or mom and OP got survivor's benefits or something. Even if it weren't the case that OP's dad was dead, but a deadbeat who wasn't paying child support, OP STILL wouldn't be responsible for paying that back in any way. You take the deadbeat back to court and garnish his wages, not steal from your kid. Ugh. Edit: spelling and wording errors. Also, finally finished the story abd turns out dad left OP an inheritance the mom was stealing and she STILL was trying to say OP owed her more. How incredibly greedy

Furthermore, let the brat hold her breath, literally she'll just pass out and start breathing voluntarily in her unconscious state. When she does anything to him, she gets seriously punished, and when she tries using the Revenge hotline, everything she asks for happens to her instead. And keep in mind, this girl is twelve. Micah is seventeen. But at least he only stole her underwear to humiliate her and didn't do anything creepier than that.
