I had the vice principal of my middle school threaten to call the cops on me if I didn't go back to class- I was trying to see the guidance counselor because I was in the middle of a panic attack. I went back to class, dumped my bag in my chair, and cried in the corner of the classroom. They ended up making me go to a school for troubled kids, and he had the audacity to say he never told me that, and that I was a liar. Years later, he killed himself after it was found out he was doing pedophilic things to students. The guy was awful.

@@extremchiller410 try this anywhere else and you’re not gonna be teaching no more, but Utah is the one US state that is pretty much controlled by the church. Stuff like this flies under the radar way more often here because the church has the final say in whether it reaches the light of day.

​@@Ishlacorrin it's because there's such a tight schedule for the delivery drivers so outside of Amazon and USPS they have such a tight schedule cuz they're delivering for so many companies instead of corporate realizing we need more drivers or we need to loosen our schedules they just add on more and with everyone wanting same day shipping or as fast as possible shipping it compounds.

@@clonescope2433 Something about the US and deliveries is messed up. I get deliveries from Amazon and the Post here in Australia and our drivers are never trouble. I think most of them are subcontractors who get paid per delivery they make and have to cover the cost of their own fuel, so not delivering costs them money. Either way the system we have here works without these non-delivery issues or the "porch pirates" that the US has.

The issue with this is... Are you honestly saying you'd trust someone in a position that incredibly dangerous if something went wrong, when they're incapable of coming to the extremely simple conclusion that building a NUCLEAR REACTOR in their backyard is NOT a good idea? Dangerous Stupidity is a thing. A very, very real thing. I know multiple people that suffer from it... and believe me, I WISH the cops would throw them in jail. a couple years ago, i thought i had covid and went to the doc and the doc told me it was just allergies and prescribed some nasal sprays and i didn't believe him and was gonna go get a second opinion, but first i decided to try it and filled the prescription and used the nasal spray and it cleared everything right up. . the point of my comment is maybe your doctor can prescribe you somethign for allergy

When they said "my own website" I think it meant that it was just like, a site they used as a digital portfolio, i.e. they uploaded completed works for potential future interest. That's allowed since it's unrelated to school or w/e and it wasn't reused or anything like that.

@@elizathegamer413 - Even in that situation, it's typically considered plagiarism. A school would have no way to prove that the artwork was not already provided as paid work or submission anywhere else. Also, assignments require new work to prove the new lessons have been implemented.

@@foxbear60 sure but they could have check the upload date, like if I finish a project and publish it to a website at the same time as turning it in to the schools thing I mean that makes no sense to be considerd plagiarism

@@elizathegamer413 - The question from professors would be "Is this a personal project, or is this an assignment?" If it's the latter, then you shouldn't - and in many cases cannot - upload it to a personal site without it being graded/cleared first. Once it's online, it no longer can be claimed to have been created solely for an assignment. Also, I think the person in this story would have made that claim if it were so. It sounds much more like they used their old work for a class.

​@@foxbear60I haven't studied art specifically, but nothing I've ever received from my university about plagiarism included that uploading something online before it's graded means you've committed plagiarism because they can't prove 100% that you created the piece for the assignment. I don't even remember "you can't use something you created prior to the start of the semester" being part of the plagiarism rules - the only thing we couldn't reuse was work we'd previously submitted in another class. otherwise I could never talk about my history essays and the research I do for them online, because it would make me vulnerable to plagiarism accusations. and I certainly don't have that problem! we were allowed to submit writing we'd already done in my creative writing classes as long as they fit the assignment brief and hadn't been published by a third party or for profit before! even if art courses do have the plagiarism rules you describe and that's why the OP got in trouble, the professor should not have approached the conversation in the way it's described in the tweet. that's the way you confront someone you're certain has stolen someone else's work - if they just uploaded it too early, or submitted an old work when they were supposed to create something original for the assignment, the conversation would have been far less confrontational. assuming the story is mostly real (everything on the internet could be fake of course), even if OP did commit some kind of plagiarism, it was not the kind of plagiarism the professor was accusing them of, so the professor still jumped to conclusions about something they could have checked extremely easily.
