Some say the shortest distance between point a and point b is a straight line, but because LGBT aren't straight they bend the fabric of the universe in order to take the CURVED route of choice. That's why they take half the time.

That can't be true, that would imply they're moving across a geodesic which is mathematically straight in curved space due to the lack of tangential acceleration.

Fun thing about the "exploring a black hole": You'd actually see, a LOT. You'd see all the light of the universe falling INTO the black hole, relativisitically accelerated to maximum plaid due to time dilation, as long as you were looking in the "out" direction. You'd essentially see a hyper-accelerated version of all of Time Itself, like the forwards-only time machine in Futurama. The bottom of the ocean? You ain't seeing shit other than anglerfish, briefly, before the water is clouded by your own poo. "Oops. _Teeth."_

I'd love to experience a black hole, the immense time dilation, you'd see the universe slowly speed up, and also, it just seems so cosy to fall into a black hole, sure it's lonely, cold, and you'll die eventually, but it's weirdly comforting.

14:28 That is not just a Yu-Gi-Oh card. That's Change of Heart. It allows the player to control one of their opponent's monsters for one turn - using the monster against its master, for example by attacking one of said master's other monsters. In other words, it does the exact opposite of what the guy is saying - that card is about *taking away* someone's (some monster's) choice about being good or evil. It forces them to (temporarily) become the opposite of what they are.

I had a crazy Titanic phase in middle school. It was weird how obsessed with it I was. I mean yeah it was a great tradgedy and hundreds of people died, but I'm pretty sure my middle school brain didn't have empathy about it. It was like "woah big boat split in half when it sank and you can still see it underwater" which in hindsight Is kinda neat but I was like, tracking down every book I could find on it hoping to find one more crazy radical tidbit maybe the other books missed. But no. It was a big boat that split in half when it sank and you can still see it underwater. And lots of people died. That's about it.

I had that Egypt phase. And an Aztec phase. And a Norse phase. And a Celtic phase. And an anthropology phase. The phases never went away because it turns out I’m autistic lol. I was really into learning how they took out the brains through the nose with a hook before they mummified them. And how the Aztecs cut peoples hearts out with a ceremonial knife while they were held down and then threw it into a fire for the gods…. Then let the body fall down the steps of the temple. Death and horror just fascinated me from a young age. Haven’t grown out of it lol.

I’m taking an art history class in college and we were talking about the sphinx. The professor asked us for some fun facts about the sphinx and I said that there is a Pizza Hut across the street from it. She didn’t believe me and googled it on the projector. The absolute confusion on her face made that class pretty entertaining XD

As an Argentinian I understand why that Brazilian girl ended up resorting to English after getting tired from attempting to speak Spanish, we tend to really struggle with their accent, even tho Spanish and Portuguese aren't particularly different it's the Brazilian accent the one that makes us go "¿Qué?" every two sentences. I once met a Brazilian girl at a party that explained us that after living here for a few years she just gave up and learned to imitate our accent and that did the trick.

10:50 This is a communication error. The questioner almost always means "Is the power out in the entire grid or is it something we can solve in this building?" (like flip a breaker or switch) We've shortened that question over decades to "Is the power out?" (meaning the entire grid) and hope the listener just understands that there are other explanations possible for what's happening.

Yeah, if you black out when you stand up, definitely consult a doc. Turns out I have dysautonomia (POTS is probs the most famous type of dysautonomia) and I really should have been medicated a long time ago because it's had a huge impact on my quality of life. It's also why my chest feels weird if I go more than a day without some electrolyte water. Take care of yourselves, people!
@TheCommenterrr
@TheCommenterrr Жыл бұрын
Tell me more please. My sister has been having similar problems and I’m not asking you to diagnose, just if there were any other symptoms of what happened
@aismakessounds
@aismakessounds Жыл бұрын
@TheCommenterrr For me, it was a bit different than for most people. Long story short, I damaged my heart and lungs with a bad case of pneumonia several years ago, and we're still figuring it out. For me, there was a lot of chest pain, and after standing for a few minutes (especially in heat) my heart would start racing, I'd start panicking, and then I'd pass out. For most people with POTS, which while a rare-ish condition is most common in women in their early 20s, they don't necessarily get that panicky feeling. With that one, there's usually a drop in their blood pressure when they stand. Normally, bp and heart rate rises a little upon standing, then evens out. A person with either of these issues is often prone to dehydration, which is why my doctor recommended electrolyte water to me. It really helps! To get that particular thing checked out, though, try getting into an electrophysiologist. Cardiology can help with heart problems in general, but an EP can be more familiar with this sort of condition. I had to get recommended to my EP from my cardiologist. I will say that, if you get a 3 day heart monitor and an echocardiogram (as opposed to a stress echo; two different things), there's a chance they won't see anything. Originally, I received anxiety medication because that's what it looked like to them. More recently, I kind of had to push the issue with my EP. When I was first seeking treatment years ago, the 3 day monitor didn't show anything, but I was still in heart failure at the time. A stress echo, 3 week heart monitor, and a tilt table test were needed originally to figure out the right treatment. When I pushed, the nurse did a simple test of looking at my heart rate and bp when laying down, standing, and then a minute after standing to figure out that my heart rate jumped by 40ish bpm after standing for a minute. It could be different for a lot of people, though! Getting treatment for it, though, is so worth it, imo. My quality of life has become considerably better due to the new medication.

@1:22: While I do agree with Robin here, they do allow people to see places they wouldn't otherwise see. Granted it was when things opened up after COVID (and they were stupid cheap), but I took one in September 2021 from Seattle (I live in Virginia, so first flight too) to Southeast Alaska. I never thought I'd see Alaska, but I did. It was AMAZING! Had it not been for a cruise ship, I never would have saw it. But I do, definitely, understand Robin's point.

They make a stop in either Victoria or Vancouver, BC and then on to Juneau, Sitka, and Skagway or Ketchikan (depends on the trip for the last two). Then back to Seattle. So beautiful, pictures do not do it justice.

there is an actual valid and significant argument to make against going back to fully-rigged ships that isn't just "they were used for bad things and people got sick on them"! fully-riggeds are fragile, incredibly difficult to steer against established windroutes, and have poor storage capacity, on top of being much much worse for seasick-prone people to sail on. not to mention actually managing and sailing the ship is incredibly strenuous and maintenance costs are wild plus the resources needed to build enough wooden ships to service the world is just plain wild

Trust me, you don't want to revive the Greek mythology phase. Every other story is just, "That one time Zeus raped someone. Most people don’t remember the first time they heard bohemian rhapsody because the first time they heard it, they were too young to clearly remember. I actually managed to somehow never hear bohemian rhapsody anywhere until I was old enough to actually remember the first time I heard it, and it was MAGICAL. I was at my grandmas house listening to the radio and she had colorful curtains and all these stained glass things hanging from the ceiling that sunlight would shine through, so I spent the entire song laying on the couch watching the colors dance across the walls. That’s a core memory for me.
