'Fast' Eddy Clarke and Motorhead changed my life after seeing them play in my hometown , with Anvil opening the show at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto ...May 1981 ...!!! Incredible amount of raw power blasting out of those amplifiers into the speaker cabinets ....**Fuck I was bloody f**kn DEAF for 3 days afterwards with the performance of the Heaviest Metal Band in the World** .....Now forever seared into the memory banks of my thick skull ...!!! lol Seen many a wizard play the guitar only Fast Eddy Clarke looked the part and played like the natural talent that he surely was on that fateful day back in May '81...!!! Thanks Rageaholic for posting this tribute to one 'Fast' Eddy Clarke ...!!! Scarboro

My favorire Motorhead song! Saw first on The Young Ones episode "Bambi" (a GREAT episode). With the opening riff and bad@$$ look, I hollered "WOW! WHO'S THAT?" "MOTORHEAD!", my boyfriend proudly said. (Trivia: WWE's Triple H is a big Motorhead fan. He has 2 custom MH songs for entrance music and was friends with Lemmy.)

R.I.P. ... You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools, But that's the way I like it, baby! I don't wanna live forever, And don't forget the joker! ... Funny trivia, A long time ago, during a glorious Motörhead Event Lemmy threw a whiskey bottle aimed in the general direction of my forehead(it was more than justified), ofc, he didn't miss... conversely I do miss him.

Such a damn shame. I'd hate to be "that guy" who always complains about being born in the wrong generation, but you know what, fuck it, I WAS born in the wrong generation. I was born way too late to truly be a able to appreciate Motörhead, and by the time I finally got into metal in my mid teens, I didn't get around to discovering Motörhead until two thirds of the original line up had already passed away. To all of you folks who were fortunate enough to get to see these badasses live and were old enough to enjoy their work while the band was still together, I envy you. Rest in power Eddie, Phil, Wurzel, and Lemmy. LONG LIVE MOTÖRHEAD!!!

Thanks Razorfist, I knew we could count on you for a nice tribute. Just yesterday I was listening to Motörhead's early work, and it came into my mind that once Eddie passed then there would be no more classic line up. It was just a thought that flashed in my mind, and I carried on the day not doing a huge amount. Then I woke up this morning at 4:30am and got a message from a mate in UK giving me the news that Fast Eddie had passed away. Very sad. Gonna raise a few beers to the all four of the departed warriors tonight. Fantastic band, and a bunch of decent hellraisers too.

At the rate I'm going, if I make it to 70 I'll be shocked. That never really bothered me before. I mean, none of my grandparents made it to 80 (well, my dad's biological mother did, but I never knew her). But now I'm reaching a point where my own father hits 70 next year. That really makes the impending mortality hit you like a ton of bricks. Like, if my dad is like the other grandparents, I can probably count he amount of years he has left on one hand. If I'm really already over a third of the way through my life and I feel like I haven't done SHIT, maybe some changes are in order. Maybe stop living like Lemmy (which I do now) and more like... I don't know, who's a straight edge metal dude? Something like that.

Fun fact: The orchestral piece in the featured video clip is 'Mars: Bringer of War' from "The Planets" orchestral by Gustav Holst...This same piece was a staple in early Mechwarrior games. Specifically Mechwarrior 2 if I remember correctly. One introduced me to computer games. The other, to rock and metal. Both are still pleasures in my life today.. The Point: None.... But I will say that if Mechwarrior and Motorhead both agree on something you know it has to be pretty kick ass.. Rock in Peace Eddie Clark..

Thumbs up for pointing this out. You can literally feel the molten foundation of metal dripping from it if you watch being performed by a full orchestra - it's totally badass classical music. I think I remember seeing a vid where Geezer Butler was saying that this specific piece was an influence in the sound on 1st Black Sabbath album & you can see why.

Just as crushing as when we lost Lemmy himself :( I met Eddie, after Saxon were last in the UK Fastway were supporting and after the show I was out back waiting to see if I could meet any of the lads in the bands to tell them how much I enjoyed the show. Almost straight away out comes Eddie and he's there for a good half hour just talking and signing for everyone there before he has to go for food, said he'd be back but I had to go myself for the metro home. I got to tell him I was a big fan of his music and of Motorhead, that I really liked Lemmy's sound and attitude with the bass guitar. He asked me if I played myself which I said I do and he just seemed so happy to hear it. Really nice bloke and a crushing loss for the metal world D:

The great thing about Motorhead is that they never slowed down. So many of the old greats wasted away until they became naught but tragic self-parodies. But not Motorhead. In one form or another, they kept plugging on; kept doing what they did best, but somehow never letting it get stale. Performers like that only come around once every few hundred years. We mere mortals can only hope to have a fraction of the vitality and longevity that Motorhead had.

Fast Eddie had a huge impact on my life. Iron Fist was my introduction to Motorhead, and I was simply blown away by the utter ferocity of the entire presentation. A criminally maligned record, with the title track being in contention for their all-time best song. Fast Eddie had the cool look, and played in this tough as nails blues rock style that had zero to do with awesome technique and way more to do with attitude, timing, and phrasing. I appreciate the career Motorhead put together post Eddie, but to me the band was just never the same. The ongoing fued was a tragedy. When Eddie formed Fastway, the 1st album was KILLER and I can only imagine if the boys had been able to keep it together awhile longer, what they could have come up with post Iron Fist. They all lived to the hilt, and died early as a result. Its undeniable that Fast Eddie was a living legend. Wherever the three of them are now, I hope they have patched it up and are working on some killer new shit. And when I die, if there are masses of new classic era Motorhead to listen to, I will truly have reached heaven.

Wow cheers for the Iron Fist footage, i have dim contemporary memories of watching it on regional ITV. Then, as now, it was hilarious. Lemmy done up like. Henry V at Agincourt struggling around in the forest of Dean! Back to the bullet belts and biker jackets please! Thanks for the tribute, a good bloke and fine guitarist.
