Steam has officially returned to the Lehigh Valley, PA area after a few years' absence, in the form of a 4-6-2 blue Pacific-type steam engine. Reading and Northern's #425, after a few break-in trips and shorter excursions, pulled her second extended public excursion of 2013, an "Autumn Leaf Excursion" from the R&N shops in Port Clinton, PA to the picturesque town of Jim Thorpe, PA and return.
The weather forecast initially called for overcast skies and the threat of rain from a lingering Nor'easter - however, the system cleared out the day beforehand, and the afternoon skies beamed down a bright sunshine on #425 for her return trip. Turn up the volume as she powers by, and enjoy the sights and sounds of steam in the "coal country" of PA!
