Raab and McDonald have backstage spat over party racism after BBC Question Time debate

Foreign secretary Dominic Raab on Friday clashed with shadow transport secretary Andy McDonald, who called on him to push for an independent inquiry into Islamophobia within the Conservative party, stressing that they should listen to Baroness Sayeeda Warsi who has been vocal about anti-Muslim sentiment within the party. Raab quickly hit back reminding McDonald about the accusation of anti-semitism within Labour. The brief but heated conversation took place after Raab and McDonald were interviewed following the BBC Question Time leaders' debate.

I saw Baroness Warsi speak on this at the Lib Dem conference back in 2019. She has long been talking about these issues yet no one in the party has listened. Shameful arrogance.

Problems is, there is no evidence of these islamlamic issues with the Conservative Party. It is seemingly a rouze by Labour to combat the antisemitism in their party going all the way to the top of the Party.

F*** what You think I too support a hard brexit, I’m not a racist either, that argument won’t ever work with me. The tories arent perfect but they will ensure the economy thrives and they are always the party for businesses which is important for me as I truly believe they are valuable to the economy. Plus I agree with most of their current policies and their cabinet is pretty great with Patel, JRM, RAAb etc

@@bjnz For starters they've stood antisemitic candidates in this election (Leeds and Aberdeen), their leadership have engaged in antisemitic dog whistle tropes (mogg and patel), and they willingly choose to associate themselves in Europe with antisemitic parties in their conservatives and reformists group

@@wanklefish Well they have both been suspended - one was about something he wrote 7 years ago "taken out of context", the other was a former UKIP candidate. Labour, adversely, have not stood down some candidates who have said equivalent things. Also, it can be argued not antisemitic, but Corbyns fundamental views on Israel and Palestine (I.e. very pro-Palestinian) is just not a view that any Prime Minsister of the UK should be holding, in my opinion.

I'm a member of the Conservative Party - I'm an active campaigner. I've never come across any racism at all. I'm not sure what an investigation would do - turn up and go home? Lady Warsi has done increadibly well in the Conservative Party considering she's never been elected as an MP!

@@severinseverin268 I've since left the Conservative Party. However, none of the UK political parties are particulary racist. If they were, we wouldn't have a net immigration rate of over 600,000! Boris enabled more immigrants to come here than ever. Apparently, we have a shortage of dancers and musicians in the UK dontcha know!
