Ravan was 'an asura' not a pure blood Rakshasa. He was descended from Hiranyakashipu (Maharishi Kashyapa's) line via his mother Kaikasi (Sumali, Mali and Malyavan were related to the Hiranyakashipu family line). Via his Father he was descended from Maharishi Pulatsya one among the Saptarishis of the 24th Mahayuga (this is the 28th Mahayuga running - Sri Ramayanam happened in 24th MahaYuga). He is called 'Ravanasura' not 'Ravana Rakshasa' . He was called 'Rakshas Raj' because he ruled over the Rakshasas. He was an Asura. What is an Asura ? "Aasushuramante iti Aasura" - Those whom consider the body as the ultimate source of pleasure are Asuras. The others are Devas or Suras whom consider Aatman above all sources of pleasure. So Ravanasura was "not a Rakshasa" . His mother Kaikasi was not a Rakshasi.

I really liked the podcast. I just have a doubt of one thing that I heard before. That is Golden Lanka was made for Parvati by shiva. In the auspicious time of Lanka, ravana was aa pandit and he asked for golden Lanka in initiation from lord shiva. That's how he gets Lanka.

Dude jus because he has written a book does not mean that it's the truth completely it's the perception how u look towards things. He is giving a wrong interpretation of dashanan itself. Before you guys publish some stuff like this. Rakshasa were never man eaters they were Rakshaks of Jungles. Shiv Tandav stotram he has forgotten. Apart from this there is a temple In Sri Lanka where in he used to worship Shiv. Moreover Uttar kand of Ramayan is another controversy. Plus Vedvati is not the first example of the lady getting herself burned. Sati pratha is followed due to Devi Sati burning herself. Half knowledge can be dangerous and such authors will dilute everything. Dashanan meant he could think In 10 different ways or in 10 different directions.
